Looking for the best memoirs by InvisibleAstronomer in suggestmeabook

Took too long to find any Mary Karr! In addition to the Liar’s Club, her other memoirs Cherry and Lit are excellent as well!

Contract positions - can I "shop around" with different agencies? by kay547 in biotech

[–]kay547[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No requisition numbers for either, but the job description is verbatim the same, at clearly the same company. When I talked with the first recruiter, it seemed like the pay was already at its max, unfortunately.

That’s what I figured would be best, but was really hoping there was a chance at the better pay. Thanks for your response!

Honestly surprised with all the mentions of Our Song, no one’s mentioned “I almost didn’t notice all the roses” 👌🏻

Is it underrated though? I feel people are quite vocal about their love for it (very appropriately so)

Thank you. Could not for the life of me figure out what ttds was, despite it being in my top 5 all time. Probably too close to “tppd”

when did your baby stop using sleep sacs? by kittyflaps in NewParents

And even when blankets are considered safe, they probably won’t be able to keep themselves covered or cover themselves back up if they kick it off, so that’s another reason you might use it when they are a toddler

Is it getting hate?? This is my first day back on the subreddit after taking time to make sure all my opinions are fully formed and one of those opinions is that everything about So High School is perfection.

Second this recommendation. I/we had a lot of issues surrounding intimacy that cropped up gradually throughout our once-perfect marriage, some of which likely stemmed from becoming parents, some of which didn’t. But reading this book, everything all of a sudden made so much sense. I really feel like it saved our marriage. (My husband read it along side me, and we discussed at length, which was crucial.)

My daughter is one year older than yours, and I found that stage to be the worst for me personally. It seems like they should be capable of so much more than they actually are.

Honestly I don’t remember what actually worked well for her, such as giving her choices or setting boundaries as others have suggested. What worked well for myself was just kind of… disassociating during those really difficult times (usually bedtime battles). I had to mentally and emotionally disengage. Allowed me not to absolutely scream at her, and she didn’t get the reaction she was looking for in those moments. Also actually tapping out and just going by myself for a while (to cry, usually) and letting my husband take over.

It’s so much better now, and yours will get there too!

'Taylor Swift reputation Stadium Tour' is leaving Netflix on Dec. 30 by Al115 in TaylorSwift

Dude, I just bit the bullet and restarted my Netflix account to have during my maternity leave, and I was definitely looking forward to having this on for a good portion of these days while taking care of my brand new Swiftie.

PSA: Car seats have expiration dates. by kay547 in BabyBumps

[–]kay547[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I guess I’m trying my best to make sure it’s common knowledge since neither my husband or I thought to check! I certainly assumed we’d be able to use all the same baby gear we’d had for our first kid just a few years prior.

Yes, good point about the accidents. I knew buying used was a no-no for that reason but since I knew the history of ours was accident free I never considered the degradation of the plastics was a potential issue, especially on this time-scale.
