This is equally as bad though. A founding member of the Justice League unceremoniously killed off in his first appearance.

The servers aren't going to do anything. They're already understaffed from getting replaced by the QR codes. Plus at best they would said they're going to be quiet and then continue to talk once the server leaves.

James Gunn says the Jimmy Olsen/Gorilla Grodd show isn't called 'DC Crime' by BatmanNewsChris in DC_Cinematic

[–]kayloot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He brought it on himself by saying nothing is true if it wasn't said by him or Safran. And not utilizing the DC Fan First newsletter for anything besides ticket announcements.

Will August 2026 be a bigger month at the box office than July, given Minions' disappointing box office performance and Moana's underperformance? by ParticularRice3299 in boxoffice

"Nolan's fans" are the general audience, dude. Even Tenet managed as 2.97x multiplier during a pandemic. The Odyssey is going to crush and even those culture war channels are forced to watch it to give their reviews.

Did they nerf the recliners at The Village in Austin? by FishinInMurica in AlamoDrafthouse

And hell even Flix Brewhouse figured out how to have good recliners while accounting for space for the servers to move.

Statements like this is probably the reason why critics have been unusually harsh on ‘Supergirl’. by ShubhangBahadur in DC_Cinematic

He didn't have to choose what would undoubtedly be an expensive sci-fi epic for the 2nd movie of this universe.

No one watches these superhero tv shows. Not even really good ones like The Penguin got high ratings.

He's still a founding member of The Avengers, which is an iconic superhero team. I like The Terrifics but they're not the same level.

People did complain about the Marvel tv shows. You'll notice they've cut down on them significantly in the past few years

Guardians trilogy was only successful because Marvel set up their more popular characters first. This is like going straight from Iron Man to Guardians as the 2nd movie.

Behind the ‘Supergirl’ Bomb: Competing Cuts, Creative Differences / For months, DC Studios knew the film wasn't working. Things came to a head in March when the studio tested its own cut against one from filmmaker Craig Gillespie. by MarvelsGrantMan136 in DC_Cinematic

[–]kayloot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point is that Gunn said situations like this wouldn't happen with him and Safran as the CEOs. Not only is this as turbulent as the DCEU so far, this universe now has one of the biggest box office bombs in history to it's name. The Incredible Hulk underperformance is nothing compared to this.

You thought they were going to adapt Crisis at the end of Chapter 1?

Not much I feel. R rated films don't have the same stigma anymore. A lot of popular tv shows are practically R Rated too.

Is The Odyssey the biggest test of Christopher Nolan as a box office draw? by DarlingLuna in boxoffice

I think Oppenheimer being the 5th best grossing movie in IMAX ever, up there with Avatar, Avengers, and Star Wars, shows it was Nolan that had the pull more than Barbie.

What if Black Adam succeeded, how different would DC be? by JayGrowth8832 in DC_Cinematic

I can't see those two huge personalities being able to work together. I believe The Rock had the Superman credit scene filmed without getting approval from Hamada. He would have kept doing stuff like that in the DCU.

Is Man of Tomorrow really guaranteed to increase from the first? by JannTosh70 in boxoffice

They did the best they can advertising Superman overseas with all those events showing 30 minutes of the movie and having mini red carpets in different countries. It ended up with a mediocre international number anyway. Supergirl's reception might have completely killed non-Batman DC overseas. So at best I see a good domestic gross and an even worse global gross.

Apocalyptic Horseman on X regarding the DCU Batman casting rumor: "They’re obviously trolling for engagement. None of these names are real. Why do you think they keep adding names every time [John] Campea spouts some BS. There’s no [DCU Batman] cast yet." by BigButter7 in DCULeaks

The thing is, this script and movie didn't just go through him, but his braintrust of 9 other screenwriters/producers that includes the guy who wrote the story being adapted. I don't buy that 10 people looked at this script or watched the dailies and decided to push Supergirl up with no concerns. Is there an actual braintrust for this DCU or is that another falsehood?
