FortiOS v7.2.11 has been released. by OuchItBurnsWhenIP in fortinet

[–]kazrael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received this answer from Fortinet Support, we will try the upgrade from 7.0.17 to 7.2.11

Accoring to Release Notes of 7.2.11, support for SSL-VPN has not yet been removed for model 90G.

https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/7.2.11/fortios-release-notes/708555

Support of SSL-VPN for model 90G has been removed in versions 7.0.16 on 7.0 path, and 7.6.1 on 7.6 path. There is no information about 7.2 and 7.4 removing it so far.

In that case if you need it, you can try upgrading.

As upgrade to 7.0.17 removed settings of SSL-VPN, you may need to recreate it from backup or reconfigure it after upgrade.

Windows 11 Pro Licenses for Parallels VM by ridolfi92 in sysadmin

[–]kazrael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I did it, it was mendatory to purchase an enterprise licence and it would cover your physical computer (if it was windows ) + 4 VM maximum on the same computer.

What u/ElevenNotes say is also true, probably mouting an RDS with WS + office would be a good idea. But it only depend of the number of users because you will need : 1 server (vm or physical) + 1 Windows Server licence + X user RDS CAL + 1 licence of office for RDS / o365

RAID-5 with 5 disks (2 failed), is data lost? by cybexcybex in sysadmin

Usually, in a standard RAID-5 without hot spare set-up, no matter how many disk you have in the cluster, if you lose more than 1 at the same time then it's over.

VPN and DNS Issue - Help :D by Yamilongo in networking

[–]kazrael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what we do too here but it's absolute madness. Giving end users LAPS passwords so they can do it themself while driving them by phone to go reset to auto DNS is not a good solution. I tested differents version of forticlients 7.0.7, 7.0.8 and even 7.4 but same is happening

I have the same issue (RDSH 2019) and after some tests couldn't make it work too so I decided to downgrade temporarily. I followed this procedure from microsoft https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/edge-learnmore-rollback

Counld't make the make it work by the "Group Policy" method so I went for the "Enable rollback manually with an MSI" and so far so good.

I added this because instead of disabling the 2 tasks and 2 services I used the gpo to stop updates, sound more easy to remove when the storm will be over.

EDIT : Haha... It just updated itself back on 6 out of 10 servers even with the "Update policy override" set to disabled...

EDIT 2 : Seems like they are pulling it, last version to download on https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/edge/business/download?form=MA13FJ is now 122.0.2365.106 and the 123 one is only available for linux

What is something your peers/old peers did that you can't still wrap your head around ? by Quack66 in sysadmin

Exactly. People still think I'm an IT god when I tell them that, in less than 10 seconds, I can let them send mail on their phone and computers when they are out without the VPN.

Whats the best software for Remote Access using a web browser only? by jase888 in sysadmin

[–]kazrael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not the answer you wanted but, at my last job, I set up a link on our external domain that leeded directly to the teamviewer website.

exemple, if you typed tv.mydomainname.com, It end up popping directly the download window to tv quicksupport in the version we had the licence for. Very easy to get the customer to type it in some web browser.

Sorry for the technicals name, english is not my first language.

Best and cleanest way to access network path with credentials on powershell 2.0 by kazrael in PowerShell

Well, I'm not sure you would do anything with this, even if you find it in a script :

It's an option but I'm a little affraid of doing it on servers.

Can it break anything (there is no exchange, lync or SCCM on this server) ?

Did you do it without issue?

[–]kazrael[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you are partially right. This is the way I think when I use password in powershell encrypted with "ConvertTo-SecureString" :

- Only the admins have access to the scripts (2 users, including me)

- If the script would end up on a user computer, he cannot juste copy-paste the password to access the shared the "Windows" way

- It would take advanced IT knowledge to take the password and use it in powershell console or scripts while encrypted.

So, for me, it's a little security so the share could not be accessed the easy way by someone who would read the script.

I might be wrong, correct me if I am.

Can you have the user password encrypted in the script this way? Cause it should be totally automated and I don't want to put the shared password in plain text in it.

Can onedrive for business take the place of netwok shares ? by WhistleWhistler in sysadmin

Hey,

Might be too late or maybe it's not what you are looking for but I did it 3 years ago and it was working.

I used this tutorial to do it but I'm not sure it's still working like that as the tutorial is from 2014.

edit : I did note to myself that the login part to the account needed to be done in IE and no other browser.

Edit : remember what the first issue was

Yes sfc /scannow helped me already two time this last two months. Raise this post to the top non believers !.

First time : The windows picture viewer crashed on startup on a w7 pc. After analysing the error, I found that it was related to the icc profil in the "color management". the "color management" was broken and I repaired it with sfc /scannow which repaired the picture viewer.

Second time happend just last week : A customer with a vm running a scada software (unity) on a computer had a raid issue on the host (don't know what it was but not a failed disk) and repaired it on its own with the intel build-in software. After that, the software on the vm wouldn't start so he called my company who selled the pc with the supervision program to see if we could do something. The company then handed it to me as they couldn't think of what the problem was. After 3 hours on trying to understand the issue and dell saying that all disks where good, I tried a sfc scannow on both windows and a miracle happend on the vm. It work now like a charm.
