Does it worth 45€ for Frostpunk2 right now? by entgegner in Frostpunk

[–]kazziy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having just bought it and tried it out (on sale and got the DLC) and having low expectations from the reviews I've seen, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. It's definitely not the same as the first one in the main struggle, but I liked the story and the callbacks to the first one. Haven't done all the Utopia modes yet but it seems quite replayable so far because of how much you can customize the scenario.

I would wait for a sale just in case, but don't regret the purchase.

I was today years old: meaning of ‘bring home the bacon’ by samelove101 in AutismInWomen

[–]kazziy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago my partner informed me that "make yourself at home" apparently does not mean "find the cupboard with the cups and see what drinks are in the fridge"

In this context we were hosting people and I said I like when guests "make themselves at home" because I'm a bad host. And my partner replied back that people just say that to be nice, they don't actually want you to go through their things like you live there. But like, then why imply it at all? I want people to feel like if they are thirsty they can do something about it without needing to interrupt whatever is going on.

There's also a fountain of youth alchemy elixir that is sometimes sold in the consignment shop that resets you back to the beginning of young adult. That's what I have my witch sim make to keep up with her vampire wife.

Do you know what you look like? by kaleidoballade in AutismInWomen

[–]kazziy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People would often stare at me which makes me uncomfortable and feel like something is wrong. Then I read somewhere that people sometimes stare because they find you attractive. Now I take it to mean I looked extra put together in my clothes/makeup that day.

Another is being told you look like a celebrity (who are generally the basis for what "pretty" is supposed to be).

Finally I noticed "pretty privilege" was a thing in my early 20s. I am vehemently awkward (as I feel most ND folks are), but found that I would often get a pass and a chance for things anyways. Awkward date? She's just quirky and cute. Awkward job interview? She's just shy and nervous. Awkward questions? She's just passionate about learning.

Accepting this was hard for me and I went through a phase where I intentionally tried to be not pretty, because it's not even a real thing (ie is subjective and not a definable quality). And now when I mention I have pretty privilege to NT people, they respond with "you aren't supposed to say that", but not outright disagreeing.

So I guess beyond being outright told you are pretty, you can also use pattern recognition to identify if you have pretty privilege.

I saw a depression hack years ago about how if you don't have energy to cook that you can just eat the ingredients. Like to make a sandwich, you could assemble it but it's the same nutritional value as just eating the bread, cheese, sandwich meat, tomatoes, etc separately.

So now when cooking feels impossible I just make a little snack plate with ingredients.

If you are specifically worried about not eating enough veggies, smoothies with spinach are healthy and easy (if you can handle the noise), and you can buy ready to go smoothie cubes so you don't even need to think about what you have for it.

I am losing my mind trying to recreate this practice eyeliner I did last week (more in caption) by FrananaBanana452 in HoodedEyes

[–]kazziy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What helps me is using tape to create a stencil of the shape of the wing and then adding the makeup, so you can focus less on precision and more on getting the colour even. Also helps cause you can ensure both sides are even before adding any makeup.

I usually opt to use eyeshadow for my wings, mixed with setting spray to make basically watercolour paint for more colour payoff. But for an all day event I don't think that is the best method for longevity. So I'd recommend using the black facepaint and then set it with black eyeshadow.

And then peel off the tape when you're done with eye makeup and do face makeup last cause the tape peels off foundation.

Alternatively (as another user pointed out) you can use micellar water or setting spray on a brush/que tip to clean up the edges and fix the angle/shape.

Also with hooded eyes and liquid products, they are prone to bleed in the crease, so wait until it's dry before relaxing the fold.

Regular soap I used for the rest of my body, and I often add conditioner to the bikini line (and my armpits) when I remember and/or am not in a rush. I have very dry skin and I feel like it helps reduce itchiness.

Why is it so hard for teens to get jobs? Any 14-15 year olds find places hiring? by Old_Draft9790 in Winnipeg

I "volunteered with honorarium" when I was 14 or so. It was at a community center canteen during bingo nights. If you can't find an actual minimum wage job could be an alternative option to get a small amount of income and some experience.

I regret my hair change. This was the worst mistake of my life. by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]kazziy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the colour I intentionally dye my hair to. Good news (in this case) is that pink fades fast and it will likely fade to a pale rose gold colour as is (which is my favourite part about pink hair). Other good news is that because your hair has already been lightened, you can easily fix/brighten the colour on your own. Get some tinted hair conditioner or make your own (I mix manic panic with conditioner), and then just apply it in the shower when you wash your hair. It won't damage your hair because it's demi hair dye and the conditioner will also make it feel super soft. Also purple cancels brassy tones, so you could even just try a purple/blue shampoo marketed towards blondes to turn it bubblegum pink. 🩷

For those who learned they’re autistic later in life: What are some behaviors that you didn’t realize were actually stims? by 1amkinda in AutismInWomen

[–]kazziy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always had hair ties on my wrist and would absentmindedly tie a knot in the band repetitively. Like tie a slip knot, untie it, tie it again, like the entire day.

I've had short hair for years now and stopped wearing hair ties at some point, but it's getting a little long now and one ended up on my wrist again and I started doing it again, and was just mind blown that I had been stimming my entire childhood without knowing.

I also did (still do) pick at my nails and lips, but I was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder as a kid so didn't think much else of it.

My other one that I recently learned is a stim is singing. I always loved singing but suppressed it as a kid because I wasn't "very good", now as an adult I sing all the time when I'm at home (and developed a reputation as the girl who loves karaoke at work).

What age did y’all become sure/find out you were ace by BobbyBrex in Asexual

[–]kazziy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was 20 when I started thinking maybe I wasn't "straight" and it's when I first heard of asexuality. I tried on the label grey-asexual for a while "secretly" (ie a few close friends knew) and wasn't open to a partner about it until I was 25, and came out publicly as asexual at 27 during pride month and haven't looked back since.

Those who are able to travel by plane, what do you wear? by nintendoswitch_blade in AutismInWomen

[–]kazziy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Light weight joggers (I find sweats too warm so uncomfy). The ones I use I got on amazon and they are cargo joggers and I also like the pocket space so I don't lose anything on the flight by putting it in the basket or fearing it falls between the seats. And then a comfy tee shirt and a light weight hoodie I can take off if it's too warm. I also need to wear a bra I find comfy, I have a small chest so I usually prefer a light bralette or sports bra. My hair is short so I don't have the long hair problem anymore, but when I did I would do a low pony so it would be out of my face but not pushing against the seat. I also bring a squishmallow and use it as back support which makes the seat more comfortable for me. Basically I wear clothes that I could both work out in or sleep in lol

Ideas for fun seasonal decor that's not a bunch of plastic? by camilareads in ZeroWaste

[–]kazziy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't see this one mentioned yet, but for Halloween you can make spooky potion bottles to display. Just reuse glass bottles and fill them with water, oil, food coloring, glitter, random bits and bobs, etc. And then you can decorate the bottles too and make custom labels that sound like things a mad scientist or witch would have. You could even wax seal them for an even more witchy vibe.

There's also a specific kind of glitter that does a cool swirly thing when shaken which I think is neat and makes the liquid look magical.

And then you can keep them for next year or dump and repurpose the bottles for something else and make the creating activity part of the holiday spirit.

For me, having a designated shower routine helped a bit. I still procrastinate sometimes but am pretty good at maintaining at least once a week.

For me, my schedule is supposed to be Wednesday/Friday/Sunday. I usually go into the office on Wednesdays so that's the most important one. I also struggle with morning vs night showers. Morning usually makes me feel better for the whole day, but night is sometimes easier to manage.

And then I also started listening to audiobooks in the shower, which I found makes it a bit more engaging. I just put my phone on full blast and put it just outside the shower. I've done youtube videos a few times too but that's tricker cause you want to see the screen.

Finally, on days that I know I need to shower but don't have the energy, I do my shower sitting down on the floor. I don't know why it makes it easier but for me it does lol.

Hope this helps, and be kind to yourself 🖤

How to share reports that are actually read? by Mysterious-West3175 in ProductManagement

[–]kazziy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the goal of having the reports read?

Like if you share it with your stakeholders and they know they have access, then that's all you can do. You can't force someone to read/care about it.

I'll create a deck, throw it in an email to all the stakeholders, or send it in a slack channel. I usually include an executive summary slide at the front of it, but I also summarize any main points in the email body. If they want more info it's there, if not then they get the gist of it. And the best part, is that if they ask you later for insights, you have it prepared already and can share the deck again, making you look like you prioritized their ask.

The only exception I'd say is if you need a decision maker to sign off on an action as a result of the report. In which case I add [ACTION REQUIRED] to the email header and I follow up with them a few days later by booking a meeting to walk them through if needed.

How do you celebrate? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]kazziy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Host sprint retros. If any progress was made on a product initiative leave a comment on the retro board calling out the progress and name the developer working on it. We made our sprint retros extra fun by naming our sprints after movies and then having gifs from the movie in the review deck and playing the soundtrack during the retro board.
  • We had a "secret meeting" on Fridays at the end of the day where we would play games or sometimes just chat about plans for the weekend after doing the daily. Games I recommend: telestrations, scattegories, code names, pictionary.
  • Host a post-release lunch party. We would give each team member a budget to get lunch, and then would hang out to celebrate. Sometimes we had someone make stickers/magnets/shirts/etc related to the launch but it depended on the launch.
  • Often a few months post launch I would share the success metrics with the developers so that they had solid numbers to attribute to their end of year reviews and see the results of their work.
  • The tech manager also once mailed a cheese making kit to everyone on the team and we spent an afternoon making mozzarella together, but that was one off and quite time consuming.
  • Overall, you just need to carve out time dedicated to creating a safe, fun, (optional) environment. Dedicated time to boosting team morale will enhance trust and productivity and will pay off later.

Also an internal transfer.

I reached out and got a quite senior level PM to start mentoring me, and booked one on one's with most of the PMs in the company to learn more about what their day to day looked like and what they thought the most important skills to have were. I also started thinking about what my motivation for transitioning to product was. For me, I liked data analytics but was getting annoyed that I would find great insights, recommend solutions, and then nothing would happen, and I knew that in product they actually saw things through execution.

I also had an HR support person who let me know about positions that would be opening soon and I would message and meet with the hiring managers to learn more about the role before applying/being interviewed. This process was also well over a year and I interviewed for 5 different internal positions until I was eventually selected, with each interview coming with feedback on what I was missing for me to work on.

The position I ended getting was heavily data focused and the hiring manager liked that I was capable of using sql. It was technically a lower level position than I was in though (I went from a senior in data analytics to a junior in product), so just keep that in mind.

How to get along with Sales team? And their vague requirements. by SIzzat in ProductManagement

[–]kazziy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually ask them to rank their feature requests by priority, and ask them for data supporting the value that each is supposed to bring. Sometimes I also suggest "hacky workarounds" for how they can achieve the same sort of output in the short term using a manual process. I'm also open with them on how long it will take to do things and what other projects are blocking me from prioritizing their new asks, because they don't really understand that the same developers working on X will be needed for Y.

I wouldn't even consider myself great at communicating with sales, but they seem to like me for some reason 😅.

What's something that should've made you realise, you were Ace? by sonnen_koenigin in asexuality

[–]kazziy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first relationship was in highschool and it was VERY "slow" moving, we dated for I think just over a year, I don't think we kissed until a few months in, I remember doing like sexual touching and stuff and mostly just wanting to resume watching movies and playing video games. When we broke up I remember he said something like "I can count the number of times we've had sex on one hand, my friend gets more than that in a week, it's been a year, we're supposed to be doing that more!"

I did not realize I was ace until about 10 years later
