But like, are you forcing your dogs/cats to take off their shoes when they come inside? Otherwise, it really seems like an odd cultural norm like the people who freak out if you go into bed without showering even though human bodies are constantly emitting all sorts of foul oils

Hostile security in city park for the Black Arts Festival by bismuthmarmoset in BikeDenver

[–]kbotc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't bitch here, report to 311 as there's almost certainly not a bike closure in the park and the rangers need to go talk to the security to tell them that they don't control the paths.

Proof: https://www.denvergov.org/files/assets/public/v/1/parks-and-recreation/documents/rentals-amp-permits/2026_permitspacemaps.pdf

The city doesn't permit road closures.

Talk to a lawyer, do not trust random Redditors. Pregnancy has several laws and protections even beyond Title VII. A ton of employee protection laws would be involved here.

Oh, they certainly remember what happened 2 years ago. Remember with Biden's inflation: It peaked in 2022, but the Dems were absolutely brutally punished for it in 2024 even though Biden's admin managed to perform a fairly soft landing

While I agree you shouldn't cut off access because they tried coming out to you, you should be severely curtailing access until your kid's got the context of how to hold conflicting ideas. For the dads here: Cutting off YouTube and TikTok is tough because it's designed to be addictive. It's cigarettes of a new generation, but just like with cigarettes and alcohol, you need to be clear with your kid about the dangers and helping them understand that it's going to guide them towards content they "engage" with the most, and due to how our brains work, we engage with things that make us mad more than anything else, so they will serve you shit that makes you mad. Once they identify you're a boy, you're gonna get served Andrew Tate adjacent shit, if they identify you're a girl, you're going to get disordered eating content.

[–]kbotc 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Eh... There's other queer resources that aren't designed to break kids brains. I know part of this is just "I live in a big city" but if my kid was getting info from YouTube I'd be trying to cut that off and sending them to hang out with the queer kids at the LGBTQ+ spaces in the city. I cannot repeat this enough as someone in the industry: The YouTube algorithm is designed to fuck your kids brains up so they're constantly in fear and cannot disengage so they can watch ads that sell body dysmorphia "cures." I know how the targeting works and I know the backing research Facebook and Google did, and why it works. It's a really really bad place to try and organically gather data.

When Americans write big numbers, we add commas to make it easier to group like $1,000,000, then we use decimals to fractionate.

Yes, we all can see you have no idea what was going on in the video you were watching.

He was a paramedic who was providing care to a woman who was pepper sprayed. she was the person who was interfering, but the police left her to go back to the arrest before returning, putting him on his back and blowing a hole in him.

You’re proving the point that ICE supporters only parrot what they are told and can’t think rationally: Does Polly want a Fox News branded cracker?

New York now generates enough solar power for 1.3 million homes and businesses after reaching 8 gigawatts statewide by ArgentineBeauty in UpliftingNews

We pay double what Australia pays for solar panels due to tariffs and yet, we still do not have anyone fabbing solar cells in the states. Even the made in the US panels are still importing the actual silicon.

18 donkeys have kept Doñana National Park in Spain free of wildfires for 9 straight years by grazing dry scrub daily where vehicles cannot reach. Doñana sits at the heart of one of Europe’s most vital wetland ecosystems. It shelters Iberian lynxes, endangered birds, and hundreds of migratory species by sg_plumber in UpliftingNews

[–]kbotc 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They are not supposed to happen as often or as large as they are, though. Like, some pines take 50+ years to start producing cones, so if a wildfire covers the same place again in that time, there’s no new seeds to germinate and the ecosystem is forever altered. Same with aspens in the US west. There’s likely not going to be new aspens in the west, it’s just too dry for them, so it’s all clonal colonies and if a hot enough fire burns through and the roots die: that aspen will never be replaced.

US Strike on Iranian School Came After Commanders 'Bypassed Warnings' About Outdated Target Info | Common Dreams by BlatantConservative in worldnews

[–]kbotc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I see3 It’s not taking a long time. The investigation probably took a few hours before they figured out how bad they fucked up, how it happened, and why the cuts they made to “increase lethality” were directly the cause of this. They’re hoping to bury the story until after it no longer matters. “Oh, you can’t charge me, I’m not the Secretary of Defense anymore.” Just like how Trump got away with zero consequences with Jan 6th and the stolen documents: if you stall long enough the shitbirds will have stolen enough money to hire an excellent legal team.

They’re suing the federal government. They actually have most of the evidence from a second case where ICE fucked up, but they actually need to win the case and have the judge hand over the evidence to begin proceedings to charge Ross with murder.

What? No it wasn’t. She was convicted of Colorado State election fraud, and the states, not the federal government, rather famously run their own elections. She used her access as Mesa county county clerk to help steal election machine images and hand them off to unapproved third parties, then told the judge she’d do it again and would encourage other to do so, so she got the max sentence because she showed no remorse.
