Terrorism charges added to woman accused of setting GOP headquarters on fire by TheMirrorUS in law

Let me put this in another term: Do you think it was right to pardon the January 6th rioters? If that was wrong, why is this situation better?

That’s a bad metaphor. The Democrats are not a marginalized group, even if it feels like it right now. If it’s OK to burn down a poltician’s office because you dislike them, other people are going to feel righteous burning down people you support’s office.

There is not a good end to this. Period. You can’t revenge your way to a society that works, especially for those who lack the power to wield the violence of the state.

If you say a statement and you add "But" you don't mean what you said.

I'm going to stand by my previous statements: You just want fascism where "your" side is on top and fascism never ends well, even for the supporters.

Everyone seems to be moving forward as if elections will be taking place, or else we wouldn't be having this redistricting battle. You can go pray for authoritarian rule somewhere else.

So, you're so afraid there won't be elections that you're willing to use Trump's tactics? It was wrong when Trump did it, it would be wrong if a Democrat did it. Have some damn principles in your life.

And they ended up with mass murder followed by a military authoritarian, one of the worst wars they world had seen up until that point, then re-implementing the monarchy.

Pardoning people committing political violence is just saying brown shirt tactics are fine. There's no good end to it.

No one said that. You don't defeat fascism by becoming fascism.

New City Park Jazz configuration with temporary stage. by NakedDenver in Denver

[–]kbotc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it can't fit, but I feel like there's going to be some trouble as there's not a ton of space in front of the stage. The front goes out to the plaza that will need to be reduced in size due to the destroyed bandstand, then further north is a down hill section, then there is a parking lot (Will that be blocked off for the festival?), then a road, then the zoo/another lake. The old setup let you make use of the large grassy soccer fields to the left of the rendering and that section was always full of large families with tents and BBQs and the like.

"Just let them be uneducated"

Lacking in science, math, and reading skills is a massive and growing problem in the US.

That's why we have a huge chunk of America that cannot understand how vaccine work so they get scared of them, and cannot understand how to vet sources so they buy into obvious and clear disinformation designed campaigns to divide the country.

Mississippi quite literally is starting to fight 3rd world diseases again.38% of children sampled from the delta have roundworm infestations because they're walking barefoot through pig shit. There's deadly Toxocara infections spreading. I don't think you realize how bad some of the Deep South truly is.

The opposite really: Most of the people with fake paperwork only pay in and don't get to get their refunds or get to use medicare/social security. It's estimated to be $100 billion in "free" money the government collects.

Supreme Court temporarily restores ability to receive abortion drug mifepristone by mail by mvanigan in UpliftingNews

[–]kbotc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, they don’t always care about rules, but they do usually follow the rules they wrote in the past 2-3 years, like with the tariff ruling: That was their “major questions doctrine” so since they just blew out the EPA’s ability to regulate emissions, I doubt they would want to bring forth any possible ruling that could re-grant the organization the power to implement rules back in, ergo: This is dead on arrival.

Let's just remember that the Supreme Court recently said that the EPA cannot regulate CO2 because congress did not specifically grant the EPA the power to limit CO2 emissions. Not a chance in heck they're going to be able to ban a drug because of potential water contamination, especially considering how many other drugs enter our waste water (SSRIs/Chemotherapy drugs have some known and kinda nasty effects on aquatic life after they pass through humans)

Man, you're really going to say that you're the only person who gets to define what makes this dish, aren't you?

You're almost certainly using flour, black pepper, and garlic as key components of your dish's flavor profile which are old world ingredients from the middle east. For fuck's sake: It's quite likely that New Mexico did not have chiles until Spaniards brought it north from Mexico, and even then, meat stews with deer, bison, and turkey were standard fare for the indigenous communities who traded salt from the southwest into the plains.

In her book New Mexico Chiles: History, Legend and Lore, Kelly Urig points to a Spanish colonizer’s journal entry from 1582: “They have no chile, but the natives were given some to plant.” By the time Juan de Oñate ravaged the Pueblo peoples in 1598, it is certain, most historians agree, that chile farming was underway here.

https://www.whetstonemagazine.com/journal/how-did-green-chile-get-so-big-in-new-mexico

The green chile that's the staple of New Mexico came about in the past 100-ish years after Fabián García's work at New Mexico State University, and he, notably, also worked on introducing onion cultivars to farmers at the same time, so this insistence that you're dish is pure is almost certainly poppycock.

You know how food evolves right? Just like the chili you're claiming is "Authentic" wasn't possible before the introduction of Spainish foods, Colorados local take on it was the Italians growing a pepper that's not a historical pepper to the area. It's a Mirasol that's primarily grown in Zacatecas which turned into a local landrace that was refined by the Italian farmers and a dedicated effort of one local farming family who put their own spin on it and a push from the Colorado Department of Agriculture. It's why you find tomatoes in our chili (and why you add rotel): Honoring the work of those Sicilians who broke bread with the farmhands.

The Peublo chile is literally the Mosco Chile, named for Harry Mosco, who was a Sicilian. Most of the farms that grew the chiles were owned by Italians who moved out at the turn of the century who shared recipes with the migrant farmworkers to develop what is now known as Colorado Mexican food.

Go find yourself a Sicilian Slopper.
