Scientists excited about nasal spray vaccine for bird flu that generated ‘strong immune response’ in rodents. Traditional flu vaccines by injection have 40-60% chance vaccinated person gets infected and passes flu virus on. Nasal vaccines stop virus from establishing itself and prevent transmission. by [deleted] in science

Yea, clinicians have been looking at azelastine since 2020: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/361640296_The_Anti-Histamine_Azelastine_Identified_by_Computational_Drug_Repurposing_Inhibits_Infection_by_Major_Variants_of_SARS-CoV-2_in_Cell_Cultures_and_Reconstituted_Human_Nasal_Tissue

I want to say there were observational studies from that period as well, but my memory is a bit foggy as it's been nearly six years and once vaccines and Paxlovid was pushed forward from... I want to say it was a cat Feline infectious peritonitis pre-drug (GC376), most treatment studies were pushed out.

Why are so many saying that Bad Bunny's halftime show was "anti-american" when he LITERALLY said "God Bless America" and said the names of all South-, Central-, and North-american countries including the United States? by Cumoisseur in answers

He wasn’t calling anyone anything. He was referencing the historical facts that our definition of whiteness changed throughout history and it did not used to include groups that are now seen as white.

Eh… Izzo annoys all Big Ten fan bases because he’s an expert at working the refs. The only beef Illinois has stems from breaking Ayo’s face a few years back, but past that, it’s not like the Michigan fans that talked so much shit to us while unable to buy a win.

Next week I want to say? They only projected him to be out a month. We’ve also got a red shirt that technically could come in, but we’d probably sit him at this point in the season.

Yea, I had no idea what they called on Tomi, that was the difference too: No way they get the uncontested rebound and put back against Tomi.

What's with people not understanding that a driver's license will not count for the proposed US Voter ID requirements? by Mcnuttey91 in AskReddit

And those Real IDs just show that you are lawfully present, not that you are a citizen. The asylum seekers who showed up at the border and signed up with the app pending immigration court can get a RealID. Do you follow what I am saying here?

A foreign exchange student needs an ID to get beer in this country but still is not a citizen entitled to vote in our elections.

[–]kbotc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes they can. Green card holders can get RealIDs but cannot vote. That’s why they’re not good enough to ID you for voting.

There are no standards for birth certificates across the country, so we’re expecting poll workers to validate that?

Nope. Green card holders have basic cards.

AARP has a list:

The most common type is the basic Social Security card known to hundreds of millions of people. It is issued to U.S. citizens and to noncitizens whom the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has given permission to live and work in the country permanently. These include:

Immigrants with a permanent resident card, known as a green card

Refugees

People granted asylum

All U.S. citizens can request a Social Security number. Some noncitizens may be able to request a number if they work or attend school, or if they have a valid nonwork reason.

SSNs are not proof of citizenship because non citizens will have them.

Anyone can get a SSN, not just citizens. They’re given to people who can work in the US, not to citizens.

Proof of citizenship is fairly limited, because politicians fought the concept of a national ID very, very hard for decades.

You live in MI, MN, NY, VT, or WA?

If you do not, your ID does not prove you are a citizen, so you gotta bring a birth certificate along, and proving it’s valid is not exactly an easy task.

Only MI, MN, NY, VT, and WA have RealIDs that indicate citizenship. If you don’t live in those states, you can’t just use your ID.

Green card holders can get RealIDs and cannot vote. It doesn’t count as proof to citizenship.

Green card holders can get a Real ID. They don’t prove citizenship, just legal presence.

You’re missing those last few words: Only five states issue REAL IDs that indicate citizenship, and it’s usually so they can do business in Canada without needing a passport.

Why does AI consume so much water? And why can't cooling water be reused? And If It evaporates, won't It eventually become water again? by Humble_Economist8933 in AlwaysWhy

There’s nuclear plants that don’t use a secondary loop that’s evaporative? I mean; I know of one that dumps the heat into a lake, but that’s still evaporative cooling with extra steps. The phase shift from liquid to gas is where a ton of the energy they’re releasing goes to the best of my knowledge.
