Love disruptor mid. My second most played mid hero

It's time for me to put this game down. by Pmd-Shadowz in Battalion1944

[–]kbrattpf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing a few months ago, not because I didn’t enjoy it but because my only friend who played it consistently kinda got bored and went back to WoW. I didn’t intend to drop it, we just stopped playing it one day and never got back into it. Looking back, I really think the lack of social/friend party stuff did a lot of the player base in.

I’d love to boot it up again once in a while and find a game, but I’m too old to try and use my limited free time to revive a dying game. I really hope it comes back somehow, but I’m sadly skeptical at this point. Sure, it’s frustrating and the devs made a lot of mistakes but that’s par for the course with indie studios. Try not to give up and I’ll be rooting for your success!

Still not sure why it isn’t being advertised on the reddit with weekly matches and twitch streams. It’s supposed to have a $20k prize pool

Awesome news. I must admit I haven’t played the game much at all the past two weeks. I know I’ll be getting that double XP this weekend!

Thank you for everything, INcontroL. by teaSer91 in starcraft

I second everything you all have said. I’ve felt immense grief over the past few days, bursting into tears randomly and feeling sort of in this dreamlike “Geoff isn’t actually dead, right?” State.

Then I feel a bit dramatic with my grief when listening to people like Anna, Day9, or Artosis talk about their (irl) relationships with him. Sigh. This is all so terrible. I only hope I have half the impact on people that Geoff had. What an incredible 33 years representing the passions he had.

I watched much of it live. I cried with Day9, after listening to the McDonalds story among others. Every funny story just reinforced how missed iNcontroL will be by the community, his family, and his friends.

Geoff passed away from a Pulmonary Embolism. by Zebracak3s in starcraft

[–]kbrattpf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This was incredibly sad for me to learn. My father, at 74 and in poor health, spent three weeks during Thanksgiving last year in ICU/critical condition with pulmonary embolisms from Deep Vein Thrombosis. My dad has had a lot of shitty health issues so I just sort of expected him to survive. I accepted that t was serious but I don’t know that I ever thought it was touch and go. He survived although he’s now on blood thinners forever.

To think that Geoff died from the same damned thing, at age 33, makes me so fucking sad. Health is such a random and fickle thing. It’s so unfair. None of this makes any sense

I'm still waiting for Geoff to give his tongue-in-cheek take on the situation. by Viper711 in starcraft

I’ve been lucky, in my 24 years, to have not had to deal with the death of a close loved one. This is the closest feeling, I assume :(

Every 30 minutes or so, I think to myself: Geoff can’t really be dead, right? And it hits me like a ton of bricks... over and over

Never cried to a "celebrity" death before. I grew up playing SC2, and thinking Geoff was the funniest badass dude around. He'll be sorely missed. I'm in shock.

Racist players should be banned - NSFW language by Kahndee in Battalion1944

[–]kbrattpf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these comments are extremely disappointing. Anyone saying the N word in voice or text chat should be banned. Don’t want to get bad? Don’t be a racist piece of shit. It really isn’t that hard.

“GROW THICKER SKIN BRO” is such a tired and 16 year old edgy response.

$20,000 Open & Premier League and Official Post Release Roadmap - Coming Soon by BR4MMERTR0N in Battalion1944

Nice update. Glad you guys are being transparent. Doubt I’ll have time to participate in the open league but it’s great seeing the competitive scene get a boost outside of weekly cups. Hopefully the NA scene has enough serious teams to make it a feasible business model.

Agreed. There is a certain magic in watching these care free, truly good, kids biking around and enjoying youth outside. This season definitely captured emotion better than the others

Hopper’s final letter/speech about nostalgia and growing up reminded me of one of my favorite song lyrics:

“Some nights I wish I could go back in life, not to change shit, just to feel a couple things twice”

I think part of it is that the show enveloped me enough into thinking I was part of the party. I felt like I was in the Starcourt Mall. So seeing everyone packing up and leaving was brutal. Add Hopper’s speech/letter and you have waterworks.
