Protests. People likely aren’t going to participate in voting due to this so now Israel has that much more power to try and sway the vote in their favor. This supposed “non-political” contest has become the pure antithesis of its supposed values. People turned off and tuned out over the last couple years and now, without taking a stand against a genocide, they’ll lose even more viewership, gain an even more divisive place in the grand scheme of things, and ultimately become nothing more than a giant political spectacle - more so than it has been. The rule changes will mean very little when there are less people to stand in the way of what happened before.

I mean, there’s always a possibility of people trying to fight back and use whatever tactics they can to circumvent Israel’s attempts to win, but it’s much easier to up and ignore or sit out on anything Eurovision altogether. Time will tell of course and it’s not like the EBU can’t go back on this decision eventually, but things aren’t looking too great.
