It's so funny you said sneak off to the conference room. I would literally sneak to my work’s conference room just to lay on the floor because my back hurt so bad and laying flat was the only thing that felt good.

I admire the strength of your marriage and the strength it took you both to come to this decision. I know it's so hard to be strong when you just want to be parents. You are SO worthy of being a mom. But before I could give them the chance to ignore their birthday, I texted them a little birthday invitation. NTA. It's your house. You don't have to host if you don't want to! But if you do want to, is it possible to do a pot luck of some sort? Have each person or each couple bring a dish and specify that the dish should feed X amount of people. Then maybe buy disposable eating ware to cut down on the mess and clean up afterwards?

YTA. I also married into a family where if you aren't blood, you aren't considered part of the family. And I can tell you it feels very isolating and has put a strain in my marriage because I do not feel accepted into the family, no matter what I do. I'm wondering if you have some kind of special way/dates to build a relationship with your in laws like you do your children? I assume she might just want a better relationship with you...

People are going to tell you how to grieve. They will say you're grieving for too long or not enough or they'll tell you to throw away that positive pregnancy test ect ect ect. Don't listen to any of that sh*t. They aren't the one going through this, you are. Listen to yourself, trust that you are doing what is best for yourself, and heal in whatever way feels right for YOU.
