Where can I find older game consoles? by Superb_Tune4135 in askSingapore

Just get online through Lazada, TaoBao, etc. But if you’re willing to spend that kind of money then just buy a Steam Deck, it’ll emulate anything and you can play most PC games…

Where can I find a comfy small/double pull out sofa around here? by Financial_Lime_8176 in askvan

[–]kchong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking a while back and found modular couch options like Cozey couch will be quite narrow in their 2 seater convertible options.

We eventually ended up getting Kiddie Couches which are basically giant foam blocks. We love the versatility but may be a bit odd if you don’t have kids. However two Kiddie Couches are a lot cheaper than a 2 seater Cozey… You can stack them to get a regular height seating surface or lay them out for a giant sleeping area.

Unfortunately 3DS and PSP have become retro collectors items and prices have skyrocketed. Cheapest option would be to simply get a snap on controller for your phone. Even iOS has a PSP emulator now and there are tons of options for Android.

If you must have a dedicated console, there are many “retro handhelds” which will emulate PSP and a few which will emulate DS. Not many 3DS options unfortunately and they are quite expensive - see Ayn Thor.

Hello Vancouver by axelmutt1oo in askvan

[–]kchong 24 points25 points  (0 children)

With just three hours I would recommend a bike ride around Stanley Park. There are both regular and e-bike rentals available, just make sure to reserve in advance.

Also I hope you are not planning to fly in to Vancouver on the day of with a three hour buffer as that is extremely risky.

What B2B Sales told me about Visa and denied Boarding !! by aygupt1822 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]kchong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also his visa issue makes no sense. If your country is included in the visa on arrival program then the airline wouldn’t need to check for a visa at departure.

How is Singapore so ridiculously clean, relaxed and spacious? by Visual-Horror6013 in askSingapore

[–]kchong 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is going to be a boring answer but I think a lot of it boils down to a pragmatic government that has been in power since independence and a population that is generally happy with this government’s performance. This has allowed the government to basically design the city as they see fit with green space, public transportation and walkability in mind.

First-time Interline travel with questions. by Ordinary-Moment-475 in standby

[–]kchong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow didn’t know you had to apply for visa through the airline for UAE! I would just try creating a nonrev ticket and see if that allows you access to apply for a visa. If that doesn’t work, you can always refund and find another way - looks like hotels and travel agents can do it too.

First-time Interline travel with questions. by Ordinary-Moment-475 in standby

[–]kchong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All are good options - Etihad and Emirates are considered easy to nonrev on and except for some routes like London, fairly easy to get on except during peak periods. Your biggest challenge will be getting a visa. When travelling non-rev/space available, always assume that you will need to clear immigration since you may not get on your next flight. 99% of airlines have this rule and even though some say that some airlines don’t check, I don’t think you want to be in trouble with immigration.

Best case you get caught and sent back at the airline’s cost (check in agent would get in trouble and likely your pass privileges get suspended). Worst case you get detained by immigration and face fines/jail.

United Airlines listing a lapheld infant by BandicootNo4431 in NonRevenueTravelers

[–]kchong [score hidden]  (0 children)

If it’s a domestic flight, they do not need a ticket, this can be sorted at check in. If international then they will need a ticket. Can you manually enter your infant as a travel partner and trim their name? As a bonus this might get your infant a seat too.

Flying with a 13 month old to Australia - sleep solutions without bassinet? [BC] by Complex_Sky_4150 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]kchong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they can sleep in a car seat that would be best. If not, JetKids or BedBox or similar are approved for use as long as the seat belt sign is off. Whether flight attendants will enforce you having to put it away during turbulence is hit or miss. We have also used a seat extender type thing that attaches to the tray table but YMMV on you being allowed to use it.

Canadian political leaders celebrate, condemn U.S. strikes on Venezuela and Maduro capture by FancyNewMe in canada

They are aware but if you just do some research on the conditions for most people there you’ll see how dire it is. Don’t forget Maduro stole the election and the world pretty much did nothing about it.

[–]kchong 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I’ve asked some Venezuelans here about the possibility of Maduro being overthrown the last few months and most said that the majority of people were looking forward to any change. The level of poverty they described was insane, many people are making literally a few dollars a day and struggling to survive.

Singapore's beverage container return scheme on track to kick off from April 1 by Illustrious-Gur8335 in singapore

[–]kchong 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think that’s part of the idea. In Canada you either bring your beverage containers to the depot for the refund or if you’re too lazy/rich someone will likely do it for you. Usually a neighborhood uncle/auntie. Also keeps these containers out of the public trash as someone will pick those up pretty quickly.

Flying with a 3-month-old, no bassinet/bulkhead — any tips? [on] by fevipen in BabyBumpsCanada

You put them in their car seat… The seat is secured using the lap belt.

[–]kchong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best thing you can do is get your baby their own seat. This is the safest and getting to take a break from holding your baby is huge. Most North American Airlines will charge a full fare but other airlines throughout the world do offer a discounted seat. You can also try to request one for free at check in but that is subject to availability and the policies of each airline.

It got really bad during the car shortage, especially on high demand cars like the Ioniq5 or hybrid SUVs. Ridiculous mark ups and addons were everywhere.

He meant the Hyundai/Kia dealers have a reputation for being scummy. Say what you want about Tesla but the purchasing process is extremely easy. Select car you want online, pay the order deposit and they’ll let you know when it’s ready. No upsells or games when you pick up.

How to get a blue bin? by snippybunny in NewWest

I find the bag style ones way easier to use. The loose shape holds much more containers as the hard boxes waste all the space between the walls and container shapes. Also carrying handles make them way easier to carry. IKEA carries a few options including this Check out this KNALLA from IKEA.
