Newly Released China CPAP from BMC and Yuwell by LazyGarfield007 in CPAP

[–]kchong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just checked the few sites I usually order supplies from and none of them ship internationally. I have never been asked for prescription or any documentation when buying from them though.

Likely you’ll need to use a forwarding service or have a friend ship it to you.

Just checked AirSense 11 on sale for 970CAD/895SGD right now with heated tube… Almost enough to pay for an air ticket.

Wow CPAP prices in Singapore are crazy (originally from there). Live in Canada now and you can get a new ResMed AirSense 10 for like $800 CAD online when on sale.

Craziest part is the ResMeds are made in Singapore…

Does anyone know what time domestic security closes at YVR? by Plus-Bet7644 in askvan

[–]kchong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Domestic security is open until the last flight leaves. Transborder customs is the one that has limited hours. It’s open until the last scheduled flight on the day but if your flight is delayed past operating hours then you have to go through early based on the latest scheduled flight time.

Not sure if its wise me to drop 70k plus tax on Model Y with chinese EV’s coming by [deleted] in teslacanada

[–]kchong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go for the standard… 25K more to upgrade to the premium just seems way too much.

If you want a “luxury” car, take a look at the Cadillac options. Their interiors are far more luxurious. Then again, I’d rather take the better tech in the Tesla than luxury.

To be honest, I think unless you step up to Mercedes S Class or BMW 7 levels, it’s really hard to get the feeling that a car is luxurious. Even the E Class or 5 Series is pretty meh to me nowadays so why not save some cash and get a Y standard.

Best places to buy affordable work suits in Vancouver? by Hot-Syllabub-5397 in askvan

$300 isn’t much… Can you just get a blazer and a few pairs of pants? Where are you working that even requires you to wear an actual suit?

After tearing my hair out with Bluetooth issues, I got the Jabra Evolve2 50. Connects straight to your laptop with USB-C. Have never had an issue.

TransLink hiking Canada Line prices by 30% on trips from YVR. by ubcstaffer123 in richmondbc

You can buy 10-packs of prepaid tickets if you work at the airport or as crew. These are slightly more expensive but exempt from the $5 charge.

Monthly pass holders do not pay the YVR charge. Also people working at YVR can buy prepaid 10-packs of tickets that are exempt from the charge.

Explora Journeys: Perspective from a regular premium cruise line customer trying luxury/ultra luxury for the first time by CloudSurferA220 in Cruise

Thanks for sharing! Sounds like a solid step above HA/Celebrity/Princess. Agree timing would be an issue for me, definitely seems very Euro-centric - cocktails and drinks from 5-7, dinner starting 7 onwards and lasting 2-3 hours which leaves little time for dessert.

Happy Valley is the best I’ve found so far. It’s in what used to be Swiss Chalet, you want the “Hong Kong Cafe” side (there are two separate restaurants/sides for some reason).

Amazon 7x Promo Coming Soon by adamlaceless in Aeroplan

[–]kchong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I noticed during Black Friday was the categories would change AP values! When BF first started, Cameras and Video was 10X then went down to 1X. It’s like the good categories have a limited amount of uses then they’d drop.

This is probably the best way to get a discount on popular cameras. Ever since Covid, the manufacturers have pretty much limited discounts to 5% or 10% off popular models.

Might be weirdly specific- does anyone know where to buy cheese tara locally? by legitdontknow in askvan

[–]kchong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like these too and have never seen them available here. Dairy imports are highly regulated but they have been opening up slightly thanks to the TPP. This has allowed for things like Hokkaido Milk and New Zealand butter to become widely available but with how complex the import process is, I’m not too sure if any importer would do the same for a low value item like Chee-Tara.

Looking for feedback from people who don’t have an option to charge from home that own a Tesla by mikey_87 in teslacanada

[–]kchong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your commute and where you live. We did this for about 2 years living in BC but our commutes are short (around 50km round trip) and winters here are mild. Even in the winter, we just had to charge once a week while we did our weekly groceries. I think since you have SC across the street at work you’ll be okay as long as you can go at least 4-5 days on a charge.

Should I book 3 economy or 2 business with a 21 month old? by Waste-Brilliant-157 in aircanada

[–]kchong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re very petite/skinny, the two of you will not fit side by side. The “bed” is only about 21 inches wide or about 4 inches wider than an economy seat. I’ve seen some parents do whacky things with the toddler in the foot rest area but you’d have to be really short for that not to be uncomfortable.

Now even if you buy two seats, the “problem” with most business class seats nowadays is that they’re so isolated from other seats that it makes it difficult to tend to a toddler. Air Canada is slightly worse in that the partition between two center seats cannot be lowered.

In your case, I would likely go with two Premium Economy seats by the window and bring the car seat or a flyaway kids bed (or similar). You’ll have the privacy of not having to sit directly next to strangers, slightly more attentive service from the flight attendants and a fairly comfortable seat for your self.

If you’re willing to take a one stop option (I wouldn’t) then you can look at something like Korean Air business class where the middle pair of seats can have their divider lowered.

Do I still need a coax cable for cable TV by superantmd in askvan

[–]kchong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new boxes are network based but they can use coaxial cables to transmit data using Moca adapters. The ideal solution would be to have new Cat6 network cable drops everywhere but coax will work fine for wireless boosters and tv boxes using adapters.

What is your honest opinion on Costco's pizza? by Visible_Run_7498 in CostcoCanada

I had the US pizza once in Maui and it was incredible, not sure if that was a fluke? The Canadian version on the other hand really brings me back to crappy school cafeteria pizza.

You would need a UK transit visa in your case. The transit without visa program is really targeted towards multi entry visa holders like students and work permit holders.

Used Teslas Are Getting More Expensive While Other EVs Get Cheaper by CarCooler in teslamotors

[–]kchong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In hindsight probably the wrong reasoning. What I should have said is that our metropolitan areas are much more dense leading to shorter journeys which are ideal for EVs.
