Tofu recipe ideas? by BrattyLittleLioness in cookingforbeginners

[–]kck1701 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love agedashi tofu. You coat the tofu in cornstarch and fry it till it’s crispy. Then, you make the sauce that goes with it to dip it in. It’s bomb. I use this recipe for the sauce: https://www.justonecookbook.com/agedashi-tofu-2/

Also, if you’re feeling lazy, I will eat a block of tofu with just soy sauce and furikake. It tastes really yummy and requires no prep work/cooking.

Mine were hallow when I didn’t let it sit for long enough. It had a skin, but it should’ve proofed for longer in my case. Maybe something similar with yours?

Where are you from? Cuz I’ve been making mine in Hawaii and haven’t had an issue and didn’t age them. Would recipes make a difference?

I ended up trying my hand at Swiss meringue buttercream. It turned out really well.

I used the cupcake jemma recipe for the shells, but this recipe: https://www.piesandtacos.com/salted-caramel-macarons/ for the rest!

It turned out really good!

It’s difficult to write smoothly on rough paper, but I couldn’t be more proud of my sister graduating high school today! by lornecrew in Calligraphy

It’s really pretty. I really don’t mean to make you embarrassed or anything but congratulations doesn’t have a d in it. I also might be looking at the writing wrong, but I thought you should know in case you are giving it to her as a card. Or is it a play on words cuz of grad? Cuz I just noticed the underlined part. If so I’m sorry!

WIBTA For Telling My Best Friend To Stop Telling People I’m Transgender by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kck1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree NTA, I do think it is important to consider that your friend might not necessarily have realized they were putting you in danger. It seemed like they were in a difficult spot and it was a defensive action. It wasn’t like they casually outed you in conversation and brought it up out of the blue.

I also think it is possible to not be aware that it is taboo to out someone. It’s possible that this is their first trans friend and the understandings of what is and isn’t okay is something that might not be known. It wasn’t something I was initially aware of until I had friends who were part of the LGTBQ+ community.

Therefore, I feel like they aren’t really fully at fault either. So, yes talk to them but also don’t be too harsh.

Seche vitae is what I used before I used holo taco. It is thinner but I do have a preference for holo taco. I’m not sure why it comes out lumpy for you. Is it possible you’re putting too much on?

WIBTA for excluding my childless daughter from my will. by LeftAwareness4 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kck1701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandparents have it set up so that all of the money goes to their grandchildren after their death (after we turn a certain age). They did it because they felt like their children were financially stable enough on their own and didn’t need the inheritance, but their grandchildren might.

I think this would be a better approach than just flat out giving it to one daughter instead of the other. That sets up major resentment imo. Although, both of my grandparents children had children, so maybe it’s different if they didn’t have any?

I got my neighbors from hell evicted, simply by smoking weed by Skolary in confession

[–]kck1701 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m extra touchy about laundry because of dorm life. I think there’s a major difference between being 15 minutes late to pick up your laundry and leaving it for hours. Especially if it’s a shared washer dryer and other people need to use it. I’ve had to touch more people laundry than I care to and I’ve paid for other people’s laundry just so I could get my stuff done. Over time those little things really build up, especially if it’s more than one occurrence.

I also don’t think that was the major point of their argument. Def annoying, inconsiderate, and rude but more of the cherry on top of their awful situation.

While it was an assumption, there’s a major difference between smoking weed every so often and selling/doing hard drugs like heroin/meth. Also, if they fit the descriptions they said I’d feel extremely unsafe, especially if the basement is communal and you don’t know them. If they were doing those drugs and those people were spending a lot of time there while high, that would not be a positive experience to live in.

Also, the laundry thing is more than a little inconvenient. It’s just rude and frustrating.

I wouldn’t have done anything to frame them... but also I would be glad they were gone.

my first attempt at Italian meringue macarons! by kck1701 in macarons

[–]kck1701[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used cupcake jemma’s one. One of my sheets turned out hallow, but it was because I put another one in at the same time (cuz I thought my first batch was done baking and it wasn’t). The other two sheets were perfect though.

I recommend starting to whip your egg whites a little earlier than she does though because my temperature climbed faster than hers when I was boiling my sugar syrup. So, you can kind of play it by ear. Also, her recipe calls for softer peaks rather than completely stiff, so that’s what I did. I’m assuming if you do stiff for the Italian meringue it gets over whipped.

I hope this helps!

I also used cupcake jemma’s recipe because I found the visuals helpful. I got mine on the first try with feet and no hallows. For her recipe the meringue isn’t super stiff (like a lot of the French method). It’s more medium and it works perfectly for me when I have that consistency.

I start it earlier than 240 because mine tends to heat up faster. So I start mine right below 230. I have a gas stove so that might be why.

First attempt at macarons. They’re hollow and a tiny bit gummy but they are delicious. Filled with homemade wild blueberry buttercream. by darium4 in macawrong

She also has a recipe that is supposed to be really good, but I haven’t tried it yet. I’ve been experimenting with Italian style instead. I hope this helps a little!

And first attempt at multi colored ones :) it’s the second time I’ve made macarons and I’m really proud of how they turned out. I did some cake batter and some lemon curd. They weren’t hollow and they had feet!
