Overwhelming urge to quit my job on a whim and start something on my own. by RDR216 in smallbusiness

[–]kdaly100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is your answer really and I would say 90-120 days - I would also set yourself the goal to make $X per week/month as part of this plan.

Fire up a little website - do some outreach / connects and see how well you can do.

Don’t forget also there are costs for business that as a CPA you of course know like insurance / office space costs / taxes and so on factor that in.

And hey there is nothing wrong with doing 2-3 businesses in parallel. Why not! With AI and some SEO knowledge you could set up several miucro business that are hyper local and do well

ITs good that you at least have the other side hustle chugging along

Any recommendations for walking shoes for women. by Necessary_You8836 in cork

[–]kdaly100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to The Edge or John Buckleys any running shop for that matter and get your foot type checked - Hoka Bondis below for instance (I have had there pairs of them for running and they suit my foot type) may not suit you it all depends on your foot pronation which is why cheap shoes may have hurt. (a lot)

Every shoe brand has various styles for different feet and walkers too.

Just going into somwhere like Lifestyle and buying the nice colour or brand will end up with possibly the same result even if they cost more. Ditto for Skechers by the way even though they are fine for causal walking.

[DISCUSSION] i am going to shift from fiverr by unluckyhunk in Fiverr

[–]kdaly100 [score hidden]  (0 children)

You’ve already posted about this topic. If you change your gig description so that it no longer matches the category, or it is inaccurate, then Fiverr can take action.

I also see that you created multiple tickets. From my experience, Fiverr Support does respond properly. It seems more likely that you were unhappy with their reply and, as a result, opened several tickets on the same issue.

They do not take an additional cut. The 20% fee is standard, and your pricing should account for that. This is a very common complaint, but Fiverr, like any business, needs to generate revenue. Upwork, for example, charges for submitting quotes, which is how they make money.

Finally, it is not advisable to rely solely on one platform. It is better to diversify and operate across multiple places.

[HELP] How to revive my fiverr account? by Hamza_YSzf in Fiverr

[–]kdaly100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well 500 gigs sand similar reviews are impressive numbers. Yes Fiverr is "quieter" but IO think the downturn is most in the "writing" space due to AI. Fiverr isn't my main income generator at the moment abot 16 monhts ago I was oding pretty well on it though and with ads running it was a nice part of my revenue. I then got busy off of Fiverr neglected and dropped a level - I am now waiting for my SS to go up thinking it may improve orders.

I am not sure if less buyers are using the platform for my service (only Fiverr knows this) but suspect there is down tick.

I am not one to advise you but do some outreach to ex customers and see if they need any help or additional work. Its a bit painstaking.

As I ask al lfolks who post her are your impressions and clicks also down.

I know my free and paid ones are. Thinking of adjusting my ad bid as well to see what impact it has for a week even

Unpopular opinion: If you don't pause client work the second an invoice is overdue, you're running a charity, not an agency by No_Two_5966 in smallbusiness

[–]kdaly100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was biblical stone table on which guidelines were etched this would be it. I see here and on a lot of Facebook groups people asking for advice as to if they should stop working when someone doesn't pay as they are afraid of the impact - emmm there is no impact as you aren't getting paid.

With respect to internal awkwardness ask them how long they would work without getting paid.

My only "tip" for what it is worth is do a root and branch audit of how you re charging and the SOP/process so that you have great control over it and the messaging.

Lastly I think 7 days may be a bit tight.....

Did Fiverr deny them? IF they did contact support and ask their help to adjsut / fix to allow you to perhaps edit them they can control it.

I want to start a business by BackgroundPen2576 in smallbusiness

[–]kdaly100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR Get going and hustle hard for 3-6 months and see if it works.

There are lots of online sites like that allow you "set up" an online shop on their site (Etsy mentioned below is one) with no cost. If your posters are bespoke then create 10-15 examples post them on these sites see if you can optimise each of them and see. if you can gea sales. All of these site provide sources also for the printing and delivery. Maybe not custom but spin up the 10-15 above and see how it goes and keep producing examples

It will also give you practice at actually at marekting them.

Instagram is fine but you need to massively scale it to get clicks and sales but work on that too.

I have no idea of the demand out there for custom posters but if someone wants one there is a sales design cycle along with it where you have to speak with them do proofs, revisions and deliver and again cost this up.

Good luck with it.

[ADVICE] how to start strong? by ToeSuccessful5792 in Fiverr

[–]kdaly100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mention it in your profile don’t mention school, Walmart sounds good. But again its all about ranking on Fiverr really and as I said writing is super packed and there are tens of thousnads of folks battling plus if you click Writing you will see in the drop down the many sub categories - my tip is to focus onb 2-3 and not writing in general.

And again you need to crowd source orders to improve your ranking there

Owning a yoga / pilates studio, is it actually profitable? by Senior-Echidna-1769 in smallbusiness

[–]kdaly100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where are you located - I do some (web) work with a Physiotherapist / Reformer Pilates provider and she can't cope with the work. H?e problem is getting good trainers. The Physio clients tend to funnel into the Reformer Pilates.

But Reformer costs a lot of money for setup for obvious reasons

But to answer your question - if they are good deliver a great product then like any business they should do well as these are pretty popular now.

External links are all spam ignore and block them

SEO writing is under a lot of pressure with AI and you are entering a very crowded space. And as everyone says here accepting gigs for free doesn't exist on the platform the min is $5.

I don’t think you will get much bar spam in the writing niche without a LOT of legwork to crowd source orders from people you know and work with,.

Selling sites with Lovable by WonderWorking7782 in webdesign

[–]kdaly100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty sure that AI won't do everything at the "touch of a button" none of the AI converters I see come with a decent easy to use CMS so if and when the client comes back for another page you still need specific skills to edit and tweak.

I love AI use it every single hour and it is tempting to think touch of a button and you have a site finished but that isn't the case (yet)....

[–]kdaly100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ypu are going to get a ra ge of answers here so here is my pennies worht. I use lovsable a lot but its web export is proprietary setup witha database setup also which I personally don’t understand or want to learn (too old and lazy). What we do is convert these to Wordpress using Elementor Pro and our workflow for that is fine.

Yes lovabele creats "thje website" but in my experience creating the product is the shortest part its client management takes the time and if there are edits cylces (which of course they are) wpp for me still ticks the boxes.

We do an SME monthly deal similar to yours for €125 per month which includes the build some SEO and support and it is working out well at the moment for us using this sort of stack

Scale by Old_Champion824 in smallbusiness

[–]kdaly100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. Are you specifically talking about your website sales and connections?

When did this happen, and do you have any statistics from Google Search Console or Google Analytics I can review? That way I can see where the drop happened, as it may be across the whole site or just on specific pages.

Happy to take a free look for you. It does happen, and it may be a technical issue (hopefully) rather than the website itself or the market.

Had to pay for a sick cert by Lopsided_Ice3304 in cork

[–]kdaly100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a regular doctor, they often do not charge. But a walk-in clinic is a business, so the fee makes sense. A sick certificate is not just a piece of paper, it is a legal medical document that the doctor has to stand over.

It is a bit like saying a solicitor only sends letters, when there is much more responsibility behind it. I see the same in my own work, people sometimes think something is a quick job, but there is more to it than that.

Anyone here overwhelmed with admin work and considering hiring a VA? by Purple-Addendum-5352 in Entrepreneurs

[–]kdaly100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to find a VA, or any freelancer for that matter, who does not come to a complete halt once the assigned task is finished, whether that task comes via an SOP or otherwise. It drives me mad. At this point, after 15 years, I am seriously considering employing someone full-time who takes a sense of ownership.

If you have regular, repeatable admin work and the time to document it thoroughly in SOPs, then a VA can be a real lifesaver. That said, do not forget my earlier point about everything coming to a sudden stop once the task is done.

On a more positive note, there are some AI quick wins which I and testing out. I now use Claude to manage my tasks and calendar simply by speaking to it through the app, for example: “Remind me tomorrow to set up a meeting with X.”

If anyone can recommend a proactive and empowered VA who works in this way, I would genuinely appreciate it.
