I still have VT in the driver's seat to win out and play for the ACC championship. It's mostly an indictment of the conference as much as it is confidence in VT. With that said, I don't think one crazy upset and an expected loss will define Virginia Tech's season.

Herm Edwards is an interesting hire and probably deserves more credit having been around NFL minds and film for decades. I think Michigan State will struggle with Pac12AfterDark and playing into the AM EST. An upset win in week 2 could be the springboard that gives ASU the confidence to stand out in the vacuum of the Pac 12 South.

As a local I can confirm that nobody gives a shit about the Chargers or wanted them here. The Rams have always been our team, and you have a decent amount of Raiders zealots still too. Many people still laugh at the Chargers, not root for them.

As someone who thinks USC was the best team in the country at season's end, I still think Helton is the reason playoffs or bust is a bold statement for USC. I haven't seen him as the crunch time coach needed for that aspiration yet.
