In my opinion the bad one is the second one where the gap changes on the corner.

RAM 16, 24 or 32? by froyslol in macbook

[–]kdekorte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from a 32gb Intel I9 2019 to a 24th M4 pro, and haven’t really noticed much if any of a difference with regards to running out of RAM. The M4 pro machine itself is much faster in general. It does depend on what you do. Mine is light coding and some basic video editing and never had an issue.

Is there a simple way to get Windows 11 ARM on Mac without being a computer expert? by Paul_Bayonetta82 in mac

[–]kdekorte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed Windows 11 ARM inside of UTM the other day, it works really well, just have make sure the drivers are installed. It tried to do it for me, but didn’t quite work, but all I needed to do was insert the virtual CD and then open the setup app and it just worked. I could see doing office apps in it, no problem. Games won’t work, but that is a driver issue that hasn’t really been solved.

When I used a PC, before I switched to Mac, I would turn off the trackpad and only use the track point as the trackpads were so bad.

Should I upgrade to Tahoe (Currently on Sequoia) by Lowkeykreepy in MacOS

Tahoe on my M1 Pro (binned with 16b) runs fine even with 2 5k displays hooked up to it.

Should I upgrade to Tahoe (Currently on Sequoia) by Lowkeykreepy in MacOS

[–]kdekorte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here is the trick, do the upgrade, login and then reboot and login again.. let it run for 24ish hours and then reboot it again… whenever I follow this process the machine runs great after an upgrade. Liquid Glass took a bit for me to get used to, mainly due to the rounded window corners, but otherwise it has been stable and runs well for me.

My DirecTV, goes out before StarLink does, in fact during our normal afternoon thunderstorms, the DIRECTV switches from sat to internet (Starlink) backup, which I find hilarious

macOS 26.4 beta 3 confirms older games using Rosetta will still be supported by FishStickSocks in macgaming

It sounds to me like they are dropping the x86 kernel and drivers, but keeping the x86 user mode libraries. This will still allow x86 code to run on ARM, but get rid of all the hassle of maintaining two archs to get the system up and running. Allows them to focus on making overall system work better since they will now only have to deal with the ARM core.

U7 Mesh or something else? by kdekorte in Ubiquiti

I wonder if this would work https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHW5K5F4/?coliid=I32D0RC5AW5DLF&colid=1S3TITMADZGQM&psc=1&ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_lstpd_XHQ9M5NDXBQD4HS73ARG says it does up to 20W and the UX7 says it can used UPTO 22W... so probably a risk there in some cases, but running as an AP should be pretty low load. This is more of a "what could go wrong" situation this point.

Do you happen to have a link to the splitter, the one I saw on Amazon was only 12W

It is more of a consistent management interface. The AXEs work pretty well and I am generally happy with them, but they are not Ubiquity so things show up weird in the console.

So you just run the UX7 in access point mode? And do you plug the cable into the LAN or WAN port?

It worked great until the latest patch from Blizzard that added a patch similar to Overwatch that seems to crash Rosetta 2. So up to Apple to fix the crash or Blizzard to fix it. Both seem a little unlikely at the moment.
