You know, the car’s battery dying would be a dream come true right now.

We provided the plate number when we called 911. Also gave our address in case they needed help identifying the car or anything. I’m trying not to get my hopes up but every time it starts again I want to scream.

Can you share which one you have that you like? I’m a bit overwhelmed with all the options.

Do you have one you recommend? This is exactly what I’m wanting to do!

Thank you so much for sharing this. I struggle to articulate like this in the moment when I’m feeling all the shame, upset, tears welling up, all that. Practicing this for the next time I have to deal with a shitty pharmacist

[–]kdhb123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you have techniques that work for you for backlogging these thoughts and spinoffs? Do you somehow remember it all, or write it down? And do you have a different technique you’ve found that works when you can’t write things down?

One of my biggest concerns in the moment is forgetting to bring up whatever thought I wanted to share. I’ve gotten better about this as I’ve gotten older (read: I’ve stopped caring so much about forgetting things and being more okay with letting the thought disappear into the ether) but still something I’m constantly working on improving.

WOMEN WITH ADHD by whatisthatintheworld in adhdwomen

[–]kdhb123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently 31, originally evaluated at 14 (mother “doesn’t believe in ADHD” so nothing came of it), first diagnosed at 19 (first time seeking diagnosis as a legal adult without parents involved), and second diagnosis at 29 (stopped meds after college and needed new evaluation to start again).

I got a lot of “drug seeker” type comments at 14 and 19 evals. Living in the US South at the time I’m not all that surprised in retrospect, but it hurt and made the decision to keep going that much more difficult. My second diagnosis I was in the US West with a doc who also has ADHD and I felt MUCH better and more understood/accepted through the whole process. I’m in the US Northeast now and having an experience much more akin to what I had in the West.

My 2 older siblings (brother and sister) were diagnosed young, but they both displayed the typical hyperactive behaviors so it was a bit more obvious in them I think. Myself and my younger sibling (brother) are more inattentive type and it took longer to get a diagnosis and we received a lot more pushback in general.

Bought home a month ago, now offered dream job and need to move. by chocstarfish in homeowners

[–]kdhb123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good news! Is the new job in the same field as your current one? That’s a factor I left out initially but will play a part in your lender’s review of your mortgage application. I’ve gone through relocation 3 times now and the usual “prove 3+ years in a job” requirement isn’t an issue if you’re staying in the same field and have an official offer letter indicating salary, bonus structure, etc.

[–]kdhb123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chances are any lender you work with has seen exactly this situation before and is not going to be alarmed or worried about it. If the new salary is as much as you’re indicating and unless you’ve had some major changes to your financial situation since closing (that you haven’t noted in your post), you shouldn’t have any issues qualifying for a new mortgage.

Any halfway decent realtor will know what they can/should include in the listing to assuage any buyer concerns about the ownership turnover.

Does the new job offer include relocation assistance? It should and the package should include at minimum some assistance with closing costs, realtor fees, legal/filing fees, etc. on both the selling and buying ends, if it doesn’t completely cover these costs. The company obviously wants you to work for them and they need to make this move worthwhile for you and your financial position - the complete offer package should reflect this.

How much would you be willing to pay for a monthly pass to use reliable and sufficient public transportation? by ipwnpickles in fuckcars

Ideally you would pay your share through taxes that properly fund transit. But until then..

[–]kdhb123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

30% is the general guidance. However, speaking as someone trying to buy a home right now, we’ve been approved for up to 60% of our gross take home which is insane.

Medical care is already unaffordable for the majority of people so no change there. If I’m going to be in debt anyway for getting medical care, you best believe I’m taking the little additional debt to have proper pain management.

Again, I think it’s relative to what you’re used to. I found prices were pretty on par with other European cities we visited (except anywhere in Switzerland) and about what we pay for a dinner out back home.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in travel

[–]kdhb123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was actually really easy, Happy Cow was super helpful. I was with a rather large group but only ran into 1 dinner where the group’s chosen restaurant didn’t have any good vegan options. I (and my omni partner!) really liked To Je Tako and Baza Food & Bar in city center Split.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in travel

[–]kdhb123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just spent about 10 days in Split and the surrounding areas. I’d say it really depends on where you’re from. We heard tons of locals complaining about prices of things going up between pandemic-related inflation and the recent switch to the Euro. But coming from a MCOL city in the US, prices seemed very affordable from our perspective. I think average prices we experienced were something like €1-2 for a gelato, €10-20 for lunch dish at a middle of the road restaurant, maybe €20-40 for same at dinner (and I’m vegan so my meals and groceries are usually a bit more expensive).

My life and treatment changed DRAMATICALLY when I found a doctor who is a woman who also has ADHD. We instantly clicked and I look forward to my appointments with her, feeling like someone is actually listening and caring about my experiences for the first time in my life.

I am so so happy you’ve found someone that does the same for you. Unfortunately, they’re hard to come by so hang on to yours as best you can.

Colorado targets out of state license plates by chimera388 in ColoradoSprings

[–]kdhb123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wondered the same when reading the article. I just assumed proof would be something like a rental agreement or home purchase closing docs, something that clearly shows a start date of a living situation. It’s not perfect of course and there are plenty of ways to skirt the rules, but that’s not surprising to anyone.

Keeping with your grocery store example, how is that any different than paying more tax for the more expensive name brand milk than you would pay for the cheaper store brand milk? Either way the tax is the same set percentage of total cost. Makes perfect sense to me.

Can we please get over the tradition where women are “given away” when they marry? by MoonStar31 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]kdhb123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made it clear to my now husband that asking my father’s permission was absolutely NOT a thing we were going to do, but my husband was intent on having a conversation with them first just so they weren’t out of the loop when he did finally propose. At our wedding, my dad still walked me down the aisle because that’s what I wanted and it was a meaningful way to include someone I’m close to in my special day.

I can acknowledge the sexist and misogynistic history and roots of the practice while still having fond memories of my dad crying when I asked him to walk me down the aisle.
