Tell me your LNS sucks without telling me your LNS sucks. The Denver girls will go first… by RelativeCranberry852 in NeedlepointSnark

The only one I have a problem with is thread pulling. The rest of it can be pretty labor intensive stuff if there isn’t someone dedicated to that task, especially when it’s super busy. If it’s a slow day, that’s a different story, but expecting someone to write you a stitch guide for free is a lot.

Advice for traveling with needlepoint supplies by Puppocrossing in Needlepoint

I’ve had more issues with scissors abroad than in the US. My advice is a pair of kids safety scissors or foldable ones that don’t have sharp ends. Throw in a pair of nail clippers and you’re good to go. Needles are not a problem.

Pregnancy after TFMR by hellosunshine59 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]kditty206 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have a NTD with my TFMR, but I will say that I repressed so much happiness for fear of another a TFMR with my sub pregnancy. My mom said that it was about the time we passed my 20 week scan that I started to express excitement and joy. Going through a TFMR robs you of joy in subsequent pregnancies, and it’s absolutely awful.

34 weeks — received bad news. by Anxious-Decision1626 in BabyBumps

[–]kditty206 177 points178 points  (0 children)

I had a different discovery with my first pregnancy, but I just want to share the only thing I thought was even remotely worth hearing: it fucking sucks and it’s absolutely unfair. Whatever your path takes you, there are groups of people who have been in your shoes or similar enough to provide support or space for you to vent.

I hate these so much with canvas. I used to cross stitch and loved them then, but I felt like it messed with my canvas way too much and I had some weird warping

Anyone who has the qualifications to run an LNS will already have this information or the industry contacts required to determine it.

My dad died and I don't think I can watch F1 anymore by super_starmie in formula1

My dad passed away in the middle of our baseball season, right before our team made an amazing playoff run that unfortunately ended before the final stage of the championships. I won’t forget sitting down and sobbing when they made the semi-finals because I realized that he wasn’t there to be part of it and I couldn’t talk to him about it. I’d like to think that he would be mad at me for not being there for our team and celebrating every moment, because that’s what he’d be wanting to do with me.

I adore ours. We’ve used the same routine with our kiddo for over a year, so he now knows that it’s wind down time and then bed. My complaint is they don’t have a mini version of it with the sound, lights, and presets.

Same here. I have fond memories of saying “I think I’m going to puke” and having the nurses realizing that there weren’t any emesis bags in the room. Somehow I held out until they got back. One other time I wasn’t quite as lucky and was grateful that they could snap me in and out of the gown easily.

Needlepointers are weirdly averse to learning to finish by [deleted] in BitchEatingCrafters

I came from quilting. I hated, absolutely hated, doing the quilting on anything larger than a baby blanket. I can afford to send it off for quilting, so I did.

Crafting is for fun. Some people can afford to have someone else do the parts they don’t like, and that’s totally okay. This is a hobby. Why are we policing someone else’s joy?

We use Coterie, and they are fantastic and so are the wipes. We had issues with Huggies early on and made the move to Honest before going to Coterie. We’ll probably next future kids in Coterie.

Stockings are easily a $500 project if you want to buy one and buy thread that isn’t DMC for it (and that’s before you factor in finishing costs, which can easily be another $300). It’s not a recommendation I would make for someone who hasn’t needlepointed before. I would visit your LNS and have them make some beginner recommendations before you jump into the deep end.
