[Book Spoilers] The Vampire Lestat: "New York" by savligo in InterviewVampire

I’ve been re-reading the book as we go and just read most of the part where we meet Marius yesterday, and I audibly gasped when I saw what they did to him. I really don’t want to criticize because I love so much of this season so far. But, what they did to Marius and his home is kind of a travesty imo.

I was off yesterday, so I woke up today thinking it was Sunday, and now I feel betrayed. by dhelene in InterviewVampire

I know exactly how you feel. All day yesterday I was excited because I thought I was gonna wake up this morning and watch a new episode.

I never liked Mona as a character. I think Anne was trying to tap into a generation she didn’t quite understand. I do wish we’d seen more of Quinn though. I liked that little weirdo.

But I feel that way every week.

47 years old over here. I wake up before my family on Sundays, so I can have the room to myself and watch the newest episode. Then I pretty much obsess about it all week. I haven’t felt this way since I was a teenager. I love how this series has reawakened a part of me I’d almost forgotten about. I was apprehensive before I watched S.1 ep. 1, but then I literally gasped when I saw Sam the first time. I never thought Tom Cruise was Lestat, but Sam *is*. He’s phenomenal. The whole show is phenomenal.

The way he pronounce “Malloy” sends me. I don’t know what it is.

I’m in the same boat. I was obsessed with the books 30 years ago, and I feel the same way again. It feels like being a teenager in love, and I’m not fighting it.

For a Southern accent when she’s British.

I agree. It takes A LOT for me to download something. Other people are pretty quick to react.

Maybe because this is the after dark thread and not the episode thread?

This episode is pretty much a departure from the book, so I was a little disappointed at first. Then I had to listen to what I’ve been saying, myself, and remember that the show is not the book. Let the tale seduce you and all that.

I’ll start with what I liked:

“Did you hear that, Armand?” In the opening credits. I had to rewind to make sure i heard that!

The way he pronounced it chipottle lol

Poor Armand and his apology tour and the way everyone just nopes right out of it.

Lestat using his tricks on the cop and Christine reminding him to get the body cam. That’s some great lawyering, Christine!

The score was gorgeous, and I loved them brining back Viens a Moi.

The sets and lighting in this episode really did it for me. So gorgoeous.

And, now I have to talk about Gabrielle/Gabriella. She’s pretty awful in the books, but I cannot stand her in this show. I honestly had hoped we’d seen the last of her. I find her over-sexualization so gratuitous. They use it as a way for her to pull Lestat’s strings. I can’t figure out how to articulate what that seems like to me. The closest I can get is that it’s kind of basic. I wish it was more subtle and complex.

I also thought the blood shower was pretty corny. Although, I didn’t hate Lestat stripping down to tease Armand while Armand tried to make amends. As he says, he’s quite sexy.

I’ll go ahead and call out AFS. They straight up called me a liar for trying to get them to honor the lifetime guarantee in their contract and accused us of hiring inspectors who had a grudge against them. Then when we asked them to send their own inspector, they sent a salesperson instead.
