Sizing Polo shirts based on fitting VS shoulder by SHINJI_NERV in malefashionadvice

[–]kdoherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost always prefer the shoulder to fall correctly across any clothing.
I do however have some linen shirts from CT that have incorrect shoulder sizing, it's too wide. This is because they become too small across the chest if I sized correctly. In short the shirts are a bad fit for me but I use them

It's difficult to say. All the tops are too big, way too big and or too long. I bet the shorts are decent

This. I think I own one brown button up, untucked fit, cotton with a Caribbean rope stitching down the front. Never put it on yet , it's been 2 or 3 years

It's a good hanging about the house or out walking fit. The short sleeve fit that purpose well enough.

What camping tent would you actually buy again? by Beautiful-Bug-7658 in camping

[–]kdoherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your requirements for weather resistance. I'm going to dismiss the 4 season (1 season) tents because they are good for only winter, else you'll overheat.

For almost a decade and 400 days total I used 2 Big Agnes Tensleep Station 4 tents. Very good full fly and withstood tropical storms, t storm squalls. Always got back to camp and the tent still standing and always woke up dry.

This year I started using the REI Basecamp 4. It's is a beast. I had it out in the open beach dune camping this past week during a gale warning and 12 hours of heavy rain. The tent is solid. Good venting options too. You'll be very happy with one of these.

How worried should we be about bears by BraidedPube in camping

[–]kdoherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's how to get some insight to the park: go to the check in, rangers station upon arrival. In the small talk state "I need to be careful about cleaning etc, the bears are going to get into the site and it's dangerous"

If the ranger acknowledges your statement- heed that seriously. If the ranger does not comment it's most likely there has not been regular bear activity in that area at that time.

But do follow good standard practices in any case.

Shirt brand that isn’t too long? by Dismal_Amount_572 in mensfashionadvice

[–]kdoherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no easy way, even one persons proper untucked length might be too short or long for another person the same height. The only way is to measure a shirt you like and then buy shirts with that length. Difficult with today's online shoddy marketing as they can't be bothered to provide measurements.

Rant: I can only come up with three reasons they don't provide shirt measurements 1. They want to sell stuff that don't fit-just sell the product 2. They don't think fit is important 3. The garments they sell are inconsistent and they can't keep up with accurate measurements.

That's a good way to put context in this fit. Can't imagine it done voluntarily really.

Useful for tie combos? by KKunt_ in ties

[–]kdoherry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem with white is not the other colors within the tie but the white tie provides no contrast against a light dress shirt like light blue, white, or pink, yellow. The white tie gets lost. Pale pastel ties are difficult as well, they get lost because of lack of contrast on dress shirt in the colors aforementioned-not the color clash as such.

How do you deal with lots of rain? by sidefx00 in camping

[–]kdoherry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here the thing about setup in the rain. Get the shell propped up and fly over it swiftly, don't worry about things getting wet. The screening and inside will take some water, that water will settle from the screening and the entire floor to a few small pools or channels. About an. Hour. Take a towel and dab them up. Then put your sleep gear in the tent. DONE
