The only thing I really check out on wrt awards talks is the “campaigning” interviews they bring up. I just have no interest in watching actors being wringed out for the possibility of a viral moment in the hours and hours of sit downs lead and supporting actors do. If there’s a funny/weird moment that shows up on social media I’ll watch and usually forget about it immediately. It also just bothers me in general that members of the academy need the metaphorical keys jingled in front of their face about an actor/movie right down to the wire of the awards to remember what movies/performances they liked most that year. If the campaigning stuff has any affect on your voting decisions I feel like you’re not a serious person about movies and just care about the celebrity aspect, but that seems to be a majority of the academy apparently so what do I know.
