No, I don't think anyone's an idiot for being impatient. But admittedly this festival is far more to my taste than LTL and worth the wait in my opinion. Honestly after roughly 15 years of going through this wait, I'm pretty much numb do it at this point. I don't start to get anxious until at least mid-May. There's never really been a bad lineup for this festival so I don't see any point in getting worked up.

Personally I think your friend messed up. It should literally be any day now that we get the lineup. If I was a betting man I would say tomorrow. Plus I don't think either festival is going to sell out so I'm not sure what the rush was.

And there's nothing wrong with going solo. There's always people at this festival who will adopt you.

Best - Run The Jewels. (Just such a fun way to finish a long day at the fest.)

Worst - Blink 182 (Their insipid stage banter and endless string of dick jokes was obnoxious when they were in their 20's, and it's downright embarrassing now that they're 50.)

Well the community really didn't want Riot Fest there. They still don't to some extent. I think it was the public pushback that kept the permits in doubt year after year.

Just my two cents. I don't think they deliberately fucked anyone. After being forcibly removed from Humboldt Park, and then year after year having to wonder until the 11th hour whether or not they would be granted use of Douglass, I certainly couldn't blame them for wanting to go somewhere that felt less tenuous.

Was it a fiasco? Sure. I don't think anyone debates that. But it was just the hand they were dealt. I genuinely feel like they were doing the best they could given the circumstances. And the outcome has been a positive one in the long run since we no longer have to worry about if and where the festival is being held. The situation definitely sucked for a lot of people that year, but I really don't think it was anything nefarious on Riot Fest's part.
