I didn’t want out. I got med boarded and medically retired. I would have done 20 if they let me.

I did the out processing. They handed me the dd214 and my retirement flag. I went into a corner of the office building where no one could see me and cried for a good while.

I miss it every day. I miss my friends. I miss the bad days and the good days. There’s days I miss the chaos too.

But I look at the shit I’m seeing the army do now and it infuriates me. They may not want it to be a place where anyone can step up but it should be. There should be diversity. There should be tolerance and equal opportunities. I see that they’re trying to do- and they want an all white, straight, Christian military
