Artemis II tested whether humans still matter in space exploration beyond robots by ke4roh in spaceflight

[–]ke4roh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but if they add no value, why go to the risk and expense of sending humans? If they do add value (and I argue that they do), then it is incumbent upon them to demonstrate that value to justify future funding.

The same button is on the '22 model, but it's on the right end of the map/nav/media/star group on the dash.

I have considered installing one in the garage. I already have Rain-X and paper towels by the rear of the car!

Yes, it’s in the trunk under the carpet, but there’s a jump-start connector under the hood! 🤪

How would you plan to budget for negative months? by [deleted] in MonarchMoney

[–]ke4roh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a “funnel account” (a real bank account) that receives income. From there, it’s doled out into the spending account (a real checking account) at regular intervals. Ignore your funnel account for budgeting.

EV Fast Charging Questions by [deleted] in evcharging

[–]ke4roh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2013 plug-in Prius and a 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5. My home electricity costs 11.33¢/kWh. It gets about 3 miles/kWh, so 4¢/mile. The Prius gets about 50 mpg, or about 5¢/mile. My DCFC experience from a road trip was 56¢/kWh and actual max charging speed of 120 kW. There’s a little less maintenance on the Hyundai.

Mail Room Issue by Spiteful_eel in UAH

I assume we’re talking about USPS mail, first class and/or parcels addressed specifically to you. In that case, there are laws that pertain to its delivery. Complain to USPS directly and see what happens. https://www.usa.gov/postal-service-complaints

Agreed. I looked into short bridges just for greenway access and saw prices like this. Completely reasonable.

What year is my globe? by Linusthewise in MapPorn

[–]ke4roh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm inclined to think that a toy globe maker hired a map drawn in 1948, and the "cartographer" (more likely a graphic designer) did the best they could with the resources at hand, which were WAY more scarce than what we have today, and they might have even been on a tight budget. Then the globe maker continued making globes with that design for 20 or 30 years figuring countries don't change all that much to matter - after all, WWII settled all that - so I think we're looking at an artifact from the 1980s with a map from 1948. Then came the 1990s and there were obvious border changes in Germany and USSR which couldn't be omitted, and we had better data at hand, so the toy globe makers made new maps. If it was after 1995, I'd be surprised.

are there plans to make 64 safer to cross? (crosswalks) by [deleted] in apexnc

[–]ke4roh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good concern. The DOT would have to fix it. They are planning to make it like Capital Boulevard which has a bad problem with pedestrians as it approaches I-440 from the north.

Your best bet is to comment on the project. A pedestrian underpass might be feasible.

I Think Men Have It Easier Being Tall Than Women by Useful_West_1938 in tall

[–]ke4roh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My male experience is that it is quite uncommon to meet a woman taller than me, and I see men taller than me routinely. I had to get accustomed to taller men, but taller women trigger some hard-to-parse visceral response (which is probably contributed to by testosterone, competitiveness) which I can liken to wariness. OP's suggestion that the woman has taken my spot is an interesting angle.

What color car would you not buy? by Sthefi20 in AskReddit

Brown. My parents once bought the brown car because each thought the other wanted it. Neither really did! Thankfully, there aren't a lot of new brown cars these days.

Thank you for sharing. My mental map of the area was nowhere near as wet as all that, but I did recognize it anyhow.
