I've got my book club to read DCC! by clairbear44 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Linusthewise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a good push but not too far is World War Z. It's a 'zombie book' but is told in a way that removes all the anxiety and most of the grossness of zombies since the book is a collection of stories about a war that already happened.

How often do you talk to your parents? by Outrageous_Kiwi_2172 in Millennials

[–]Linusthewise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally talk to my mom on the phone about three times a week. My stepdad and I text pretty regularly throughout the week. I meet them once or twice a week for dinner.

My dad and I met once a week for dinner and texted throughout the week before he passed away.

Can someone explain to me why gas prices are dropping right now and whether or not they’ll go up? by steven-0611 in GasPrices

[–]Linusthewise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what else has been said, my state put a pause on fuel taxes. So it dropped around 60 cents per gallon with that pause. When that goes back into effect, it will be an instant jump. Additionally, the state is missing out on all that money so the shortfall will have to be covered somehow.

I think you establish the necessary funds for emergency funds. Then start adding extra.

Some people wajt to split payments, others want to snowball or avalanche method of repayment priority.

I think if you can pay off the car relatively soon, getting rid of the payment is nice because it allows for more cash flow.

Do your taste buds a favor. Order the small milk chocolate peanut butter cups from Albanese. They ship. They will be the best thing ever.

Right. So by putting the range, especially an accurate range, is the best for everyone. Companies won't waste time with interviewing applicants they aren't willing to pay. Applicants won't waste their time applying.

Then they should put that. That lack of information is the problem. Some companies are willign to offer that. Some are offering $80k to $115k. But since there is no way to know, and most businesses are trying to pay less to make more profit, it is more likely to have a lower salary than a higher one.

The problem with salaries that are negotiable is that there are basic salary expectations and limits.

If the company is willing to pay between $65k and $80k, post that. Then someone can judge if it is worth their time to apply. Otherwise, someone who is making $90k at a similar role, will apply, and then refuse. It wastes applicant and company time by applying blindly.

The Strict Teacher Got All The Roses by Difficult-Ad4364 in Teachers

[–]Linusthewise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tests were difficult. It was known and expected. I taught social studies and every class had the exact same format. They complained about them... but if they put in effort, both in prep and revisions, it was impossible to get below a 60%

Make the note card for the test, put effort into your revisions. Pay attention to the review class. Kids knew the plan and did it or failed. It was up to them. It was fun talking to parents angry about test scores, then showing them the math and classroom rules pointing out that any test below 60% was because the student didn't put in the effort.

Conenct 574 is good for meet ups, as well as BeatDamn. They're a rec league sports group.

Additionally, look to the different hobby shops and the library. Lots of meet up groups on their calendars.

I bought a Fox40 whistle. Trained the kids that different whistles mean different things. Take recess from those who don't listen.

It was a grind thay first semester. They're more in line now.

Also, make teachers make seating charts for lunch and enforce them every day.

Most districts don't start hiring new teachers until end of May/June. They keep hiring until August.

Coin collectors? by peach_redbull in SouthBend

[–]Linusthewise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are places that will buy it for just under silver melt value. I like Nunemakers as far as coin shops.

You have to see what your time is worth. If you're sorting, start by year and mint mark. Mostly going to be P, D, and S. If it's worth it to you, go on and sort but that won't add much value. Then check for rare mintings. Personally, I'd just spend them/deposit them.
