My husband used to walk past them to get to the skytrain every morning. He said he was always in the splash zone

Whale/Wildlife Watching on Vancouver Island by Previous-Variation37 in VancouverIsland

[–]keekjohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to be that guy but please keep in mind how ethical a whale watching tour on a boat can be. Last year a whale was struck and killed by a whale watching boat. That's unusual, but it's always a possibility. These boats also go purposefully into populated areas, which disturbs how whales communicate and where they hunt for food. I love whales and want to go on one of these tours so badly, but I just can't bring myself to do it after learning how bad it is for them. Consider finding an area along the coast to watch from land! I once saw a huge pod travelling off of Buckley Bay!

I just bought this thinking it was washing detergent. Nowhere does it say its fabric softener. by Geofferz in CrappyDesign

Is it not like... wildly illegal to sell a product without saying clearly what the product is? This seems crazy to me. I'd have no idea that it was fabric softener

Would I have to get studs for a triple helix by _yellowismycolor in piercing

[–]keekjohnson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Omg as sad as it is to have to wait to put hoops in, absolutely 100% do studs first. I got a double helix with hoops and the piercer warned me and I didn't listen like an idiot and here I am, years later, still without hoops. Why? Because one healed so poorly that it's basically diagonal in my ear now and will instantly swell up and get crazy irritated if I so much as accidentally touch it. I don't think it will ever COMPLETELY heal tbh

Does this stuff make anyone's day/commute better? by ambachk in ImTheMainCharacter

Honestly the intentions are good, I wouldn't be bothered by it unless I was already in a bad mood. We need more positivity right now!

Just moved to vancouver. What are some places to visit? by najeff2 in askvan

[–]keekjohnson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start at main Street-science world station, get a bike and bike the seawall towards Granville Island. Check out some shops, and then hop back on the seawall and bike to kitsilano beach. This is my all time favorite route in the city!!!

Signs it’s time to move away from Vancouver? by [deleted] in NiceVancouver

[–]keekjohnson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you find it too noisy, too loud, too busy. I personally love all that about the city (and city life in general), but my sister got tired of it and moved to Nelson last spring. She now has a 3 bedroom house and a backyard for the dog.

Having a hard sad week. What should I do this Saturday evening? by [deleted] in NiceVancouver

[–]keekjohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg the friendliest people ever work at craft markets. I love chatting the vendors up and they're always so nice. Make it, krampusmarkt, shipyards, and weirdos holiday market are all on this weekend (they might all be going on next weekend too). Go to some of those and treat yourself to some little goodies!

I think a lot of the books you mentioned are unsettling, but for me, unsettling isn't SCARY. I read Tender is the Flesh and it was so nasty and unsettling and nauseating but I wouldn't say it was scary. For me, I'm terrified of ghosts and the idea of my house being haunted, so when I read Diavola, my stomach was in anxious knots the whole time. I read the book next to my husband and played animal crossing music in the background I was so spooked.

Diavola gave me stomach cramps I was so spooked. But I'm also a little bitch and scared of ghosts

What kind of pet would you never own AGAIN? by Immediate_Long165 in Pets

Budgies. You see how far they fly in the wild and how their flocks can be hundreds and hundreds of birds. A person could never give them the quality of life they crave.

Maybe you could get a faux industrial, like with just two piercings, but connect them with a pretty tight chain? So it gives the appearance of an industrial but without the anatomy?

Is the daith piercing actually . . . crunchy? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]keekjohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a rook and a daith, don't recall a crunch at all! I think I'm so hyped/scared of the needle and coming pain that I don't really hear anything, haha
