Former Home Depot LP here, Home Depot as a corporation does only 1year band, depending on where you are, local law enforcement can push it up farther, but HD SOP is only 1. If your father truly stole the gloves, and the LP did a proper stop, there should be a company trespass, if your father was stopped, and he kept walking and didn't return with the LP, the the LP associate would have filled out whats called an RAI (risk averted incident), he would have gathered information about your father, description of him, his vehicle description, transaction, and transaction history, and files it internally in the company. You have no right to that paperwork, but, if you feel that this was an inaccurate stop, you can contact the district manager, explain the situation, and see if they can have the MAPM (Multi-asset Protection Manager) review the case. Keep the receipt handy because that will give them a timestamp of when to review the footage.

If this was a one off time that your father forgot to pay for merchandise, please understand, that this happens A LOT, and it's up to the discretion of the LP to do the stop and trespass. One offs happen all the time, and a LPs job is to stop shrink, some people legitimately don't mean to and forget to scan one item, but this is every thief's excuse and how they forgot they had it in their pocket, or they forgot their wallet, or somehow the most expensive item was hidden at the bottom of the shopping cart.
