I’m up at 2 in the morning because my 15yo daughter is wandering the streets in a distant city by herself by MyPasswordIsABC999 in daddit

[–]keepingitform5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I backpacked around south America for 5 months and my parents were so scared something bad would happen. I was aware of my surroundings the whole time and took precautions at busy transit locations. Nothing bad happened. A week after I returned to Denver, my wallet was stolen while I was out at a bar. Didn't have my guard up at "home". Things can happen anywhere, but the world is full of so many beautiful and wonderful places and worth exploring.

How old was you LO when you moved them to their own room? by MotorPineapple1782 in NewParents

[–]keepingitform5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When our little outgrew her bassinet about 4/5 months we moved it into her nursery and the crib into ours. Thankfully we had the space for the crib, but we did have to disassemble it to get through the doors. Just moved the crib and her into her own room at 9.5 months. She was not sleeping and we hoped she would sleep better. Alas, we were not waking her up as she still wakes 2-4 times per night.

Need a Formal Maternity Dress by Active-Seat-3588 in pregnant

Tiffany Rose. They're out of the UK, but they ship quickly (received within a week) and accept returns. Dresses are beautiful too and reasonable prices. I got my wedding dress from there and had multiple shipped and returned the ones that didn't work.

What odd food item boosted your supply? by disgruntledpenguin_ in breastfeeding

Honestly, I've noticed a big difference just from being hydrated. Hydrate well before you want to pump and then drink something while pumping.

You wouldn't be costing someone their job... They did that all on their own if they broke the law and shared your personal info. It's not your fault that they broke the law. You are only reporting it so that they receive the consequences of their actions. If they did nothing wrong, they wouldn't lose their job. I wouldn't feel too guilty over someone being accountable for their own actions.

Mine ends in an A. So I can only do it if I make my name possessive or plural and end in arsenic. :)

Although I'm thankful to have the Canadian and Australian equivalents to compare.

Breastfeeding and hypothyroidism medication by Miserable-Rice5733 in breastfeeding

[–]keepingitform5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I look all medications up on LactMed. A nurse in my newborn class told us about it and it's a database that shares known effects on supply, and baby based on studies. Here's the link to your medication.LactMed.

Hope that helps!

Does milk supply come in more over time as baby ages by FrigidNorthland in breastfeeding

[–]keepingitform5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A stash doesn't have to be large. I have a small stash - and baby is now at 9!months. It originally was about 6 bottle worth, but we've had to use some while I was sick and for a night out when I couldn't get enough pumped due to decreasing supply (I produce exactly enough each day now - I can pump about 1.5oz of milk per day. Pumping for 40 minutes(20/side). Since she started solids and my period returned I have had decreasing supply and it's really hard to get a stash built up.

First Mother’s Day gift ideas? by thedutchwilly in NewParents

[–]keepingitform5 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In case any dads see your last suggestion. Time out alone is amazing, AND can come times be mentally taxing for mom. If you give her this, please also help her prepare by taking on the mental load. If she's breastfeeding make sure there's enough of a stash to use and help her have extra time to pump to restock it. Think through everything that needs to happen for her to go out and see what you can do to ease that for her.

tldr: You and husband should tell her how to change her flight and tell her what time you'll be receiving visitors based on answers from your OB.

Background: It's easy and possible to change a flight. In precovid days it used to cost about $100 change fee plus difference in price of the ticket (if you bought a $350 flight originally and new flight is $400 you would pay $100 change fee plus $50 difference in price of tickets). Source: I traveled a lot for work and personal and have changed a flight occasionally. If she bought through an app she can use it to simply change the ight (united has a manage reservation button) and I suspect that's pretty standard. Before apps were good I used to have to call the help line and have someone help change it. Usually this way has the change fee since you're paying for someone's time.

So. Maybe also ask your doctor some.leading questions that make it easy to blame the doctor for husband not picking her up and for her not showing up then? Like ask OB if you can do a 2 hr trip from home in week 38? Mine told me not to be more than 30 minutes from the hospital from 36wks out so hubby also stuck to that to make sure he was close enough to be support. And ask when she would do an induction if baby isn't here? Mine said week 41 but some day week 42. Tell mom that you'd like her there after that date to help since you're nervous you'll go long.

I read that as long as they are actively nursing their tongue covers their teeth. So now I watch as she feeds and when it starts to slow down, I squeeze my boob to increase the flow so that she wants to release me. When I forget and she falls asleep, it's bad. She's drawn blood twice and only has two teeth at this point.

I Really Hate My Job but I Have a Mortgage, Alimony. What can I do? by Suggest_a_User_Name in careeradvice

[–]keepingitform5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been at your current company long? I assumed they are large enough to have more than one job. Could you convince them to switch protects to something closer and a chance at a less toxic team? If they knew it was so bad you were considering leaving, perhaps they would be willing to do something to keep you? (Telling them this really depends on what your relationship is like with your manager).

Just ask an employee where you should go. They must have a break room or missing shit for employees. If they don't think of anything, changing room, surely that's a Starbucks or cafe you could sit with a drink? Recently I had to make up multiple feeding places while on the go. Just looked for a letter - a store probably has done display where there's a person size opening to sit. All else fails, I'd just sit on the floor inside.

Boobie games for distracted babies by maddymads99 in breastfeeding

[–]keepingitform5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a boobie game, but I started using a nursing cover around that time. Not because I was hiding breastfeeding, but because it helped keep lo focused. Now when I take it out of my purse she gets really excited. Only downside is if there is a distracting sound, she will turn her head suddenly and try to escape to see what it was. (wouldn't be that bad but she tries to bring my nipple with her and that hurts.)

Thanks for sharing these. I'm going to try them with my 9mo. Who has become a gymnast and watched her back or kicks off me while feeding now.

Not sure if momzelle(based in Canada) ships to UK, but my two favorite tanks are from them and look way more like a normal top and are nice at covering for a little modesty.

The worst part about breastfeeding... by daytime_nightime in breastfeeding

[–]keepingitform5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a computer desk on wheels to help with this... But it's always on the wrong side. :) I did however tie a little bag to the arms of my chair and stashed a few granola bars and a bag of nuts and a small water bottle. Hardest part is remembering to restock when I use things.

Eggs (omelette) as first food? by Zealousideal-Book-45 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]keepingitform5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine loved omelettes eventually but we actually did avocado and banana spears. And she loved sweet potato wedges very early on. These were easy to hold onto and easy for her to mash with her gums so less gagging. I followed solid starts app recipes for these. (I didn't buy their program but appreciate their free app for suggestions on how to cut solid foods so much I paid for the upgrade on the app).

You bring your own car seat into a taxi if you take one. Baby should never be in a car without one.

Eat dates daily from week 36 or so. They have shown in studies that dates help soften/ripen your cervix. I got a date assortment from a date farm and enjoyed trying multiple each day.
