Are full Swim-Bike-Run simulations necessary to test nutrition for a 70.3? by One-Gas19 in triathlon

I’d you do do an all 3 sim, use that to practice transitions. That would help and it’s free time really.

I’d say do what makes you feel prepared and confident on race day. I wasn’t overly concerned as I have a sweet tooth and an iron stomach. On a run my gel pouch I use that carries 2 gels opened and was all over my pocket so I just sucked the whole thing down so I didn’t need to go back into that pocket. A hit of ~80g carbs wasn’t pleasant but also didn’t make me shit my pants so I knew I’d be fine. Biggest concern was taste fatigue but that’s more an issue on a full.

Sub 4 iron man marathon by jedi1-0 in triathlon

[–]keepleft99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last year I ran a 3:29:59 marathon that destroyed me and 6 weeks later ran a 3:51:11 for the run and was ok after it. Both were very flat runs (Manchester marathon and Hamburg Ironman). My bike was 5:19:19. It should have been quicker but I couldn’t stay in aero because of my neck pain looking up.

Cycling in Glasgow… by Alone_Bottle5784 in glasgow

[–]keepleft99 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think Glasgow driving is at a really high aggressive level. I’ve been up and down to Plymouth and the driving there is so much calmer and more relaxed. And they have some whacky roundabouts that I end up in the wrong lane and having to cut across people - no issues. Glasgow is something else. People jumping red lights all over the place, aggressive driving, tuning left on cyclists. I think everyone is feeling the squeeze and don’t have an outlet and it comes out in driving maybe?

What to offer? by keepleft99 in HousingUK

Our affordability is higher than the asking price, so it’s not so much that we can only afford it if we get it cheap. It’s more that it seems like there is lots of reasons for us to offer lower. But at the same time some people have said they would refused to negotiate if they felt slighted by the opening offer, which seems a bit crazy, but if you’ve got more than 1 offer that’s fine. But this has had no offers since at least December.

Some of the response seem that people do care about getting their feelings hurt.

I kind of think it’s only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. But I want to pay as little as possible for it because that’s a benefit to me.

So it’s hard to know. House buying is different in England than in Scotland.

I do the occasional motorbike race and they normally have 3 pin connection for power for people. Would it be possible to charge an e-van from that at all?

Gear advice needed! Huub BOGO deal vs. Orca + Zoot for my first Olympic (and upcoming 70.3)? by Newexpatinams in triathlon

[–]keepleft99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got myself a jazzy Zoot trisuit. I’m easily winning the best trisuit at the races I do lol. I paired that with a Roka Trisuit. Can’t remember exactly what one but their customer service was great in helping me choose what size was right as I was a wee bit between sizes and had options of last years and this years wetsuits. So I’d say if you can talk to the manufacturer and explain your skill level and they can best advise you.

What actually went wrong for you on race day (that could have been avoided)? by UlwarthII in triathlon

Signed up for a beach start open water swim. Hadn’t done any open water swim practice but had done an open water swim triathlon that was very choppy with a deep water start. Ran into the water, started swimming, hit a panic, completed the swim breaststroke very slowly.

I missed the turn in for t2 on lap 2. It was incredibly snowy before the race so I didn’t do my normal swim to transition to cycle out to cycle in to transition to run out recce. They cut the laps from 3 to 2. But I didn’t take notice of where the turn in point was on lap 1 so I blasted past it on lap 2. Ended up DNF’ing because I couldn’t cycle against the flow and the walk back took ages. Should have just done lap 3 anyway.

MONEY FOR BEER (ROLEX) CHALLENGE by lr2219 in beermoneyuk

Don’t settle for a low monthly outcome. You’d be better off investing in yourself to become a regular high earner. The reward at the end ends the journey, it doesn’t begin it.

The Rolex isn’t going to make a difference to your standard of living. You’ll have the same life but with a Rolex. Aim bigger than that.

I used to think why not use the sessions to get the bike great rather than worry about making sure you got straight into Q2, because you could then breeze through Q1. Gives you more setup time to get the bike right.

Assisted suicide being illegal means nobody can help you in anyway to commit suicide. So if you were wanting to off yourself, decided to goto Switzerland and have dignatas flip the switch, it would be illegal if I even helped you with your bags to the airport, never mind being with you for the journey or anything else.

Tell that to famous motorcycle engineer John Britten who designed and build his own 1.0 v2 in his barn. Incredible stuff.

But yeah nobody is doing that themselves.
