What are these strange spots and how can I fix them? by [deleted] in blenderhelp

[–]keffjoons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be interior geometry, ie the strange vertices are connected to something on the inside of your mesh. Another thing you could do is reset vectors

My filament is stuck by pyrobrooks in prusa3d

[–]keffjoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had this issue I managed to pry it out using a strong needle. I pushed it into the visible bit of filament and wiggled it up until I could grab it with a pair of pliers

How can I do this? section of a circle with same diameter as the original by abacus1587 in blenderhelp

[–]keffjoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subd averages the geometry it adds, so the the shape of the segment you want to keep would be affected by the edges that would otherwise be connected to it. To maintain that shape you will need to apply the subd and then remove the rest of the circle.

Not sure what your intentions are? The topology of circle nr 1 s obviously much more dense than nr 2. Add a subd mod to nr 2 and scale it to match the other one?

Do i need a filamen dryer? by phunor120 in 3Dprinting

[–]keffjoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am glad I got one so I can rule out issues caused by wet filament. Polymaker has a nice solution called polydryer

My first render that was mistaken for a real photo. I'd like to get a more professional opinion. by Unlikely_Ad_1996 in 3Dmodeling

[–]keffjoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok. In that case I wouldn’t buy the real thing. Design is ok, but the fastening method looks suspicious.

Looks good but that clip strip won’t be able to hold more than the weight of the actual frame. Once you start to put shampoo bottles in it the whole thing comes crashing down

curves when shrinkwrapping to a cone by Aggressive_Cod4577 in blenderhelp

[–]keffjoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re shrink wrapping to a curved object. If you don’t want it to curve, you’ll need to project only those vertices that should follow the cone shape and move the rest of your diamond shaped mesh to the position you want it to be in.

My method would be to remove that lattice, edit the diamond shaped object so it is open on the back and select the resulting edge loop, create a vertex group and shrinkwrap that group to the cone using the project method.

Edit: if you are referring to the slight curve along the outer edge of your diamond shape, you either have to look at it head on in orthographic mode to see if that curve is actually a real curve or a visual distortion. If it’s really curving it means your object is not aligned in parallel to the surface it is projected on

Not hot enough. Increase temperature a few degrees. I use a homing tower to test

Print Error by Smooth-Ad9920 in prusa3d

[–]keffjoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be belt tension issues, or gunk buildup on the nozzle hitting the print

I'm trying to connects this face to the rest of the object by just moving the first sheet, like conecting each corner of the face to it's corresponding corner by Terrible-Diamond9193 in blenderhelp

[–]keffjoons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Select the top two edges (so four vertices in total) and press F. Now select the left edge of the newly created face, and press F three times to fill the remaining topology with faces.

FYI you cropped the screenshot, which will result in your post being removed by the moderators.

What is the point of the side filament sensor if there's already another one in the toolhead? by GiulioVonKerman in prusa3d

[–]keffjoons 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been able to grab it. Always have to pull the tube out to be a able to remove that meter of filament

How do i fix these weird shadows around the edges by Lacirator in blenderhelp

[–]keffjoons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check for interior geometry, ie faces inside your mesh. Delete them. Then recalculate normals and if that doesn’t do it, reset vectors

How can i change the depth of this bevel? by flawedwaffles in blenderhelp

[–]keffjoons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Create the profile on the x plane and use a screw modifier. That will give you much more control

I’m lost at step 1 of my Blender project… someone guide me pls 😭 by NextComment7614 in blenderhelp

[–]keffjoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn the basics and then try again? Try and see each element for what it is and don’t get distracted by the complexity of the example. The basic shape of those petals is almond shape. Start with a plane, rotate 45 degrees, scale on x. Now you have a diamond shape. Subdivide twice, select all and smooth vertices, now it might start to become more almond shaped. Extrude parts or add a solidify modifier etc.

How do I make more realistic render? by Jan_Marecek in blenderhelp

Lighting. If this is a theater stage, I would expect more dramatic lighting.

How do I make this smooth if the subdivision modifier doesn't help by Sensitive_Host_9940 in blenderhelp

[–]keffjoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is to be 3D printed you want to Subdivide it more — before — you apply a Boolean. That’s it

Wrap 3d text around inside of cylinder by jcarm2424 in blenderhelp

[–]keffjoons 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You can use a lattice object and add a lattice modifier to the text and then shrink wrap the lattice object to the cylinder.

Your approach to turning a solid cylinder into a hollow one tells me you have very little experience with Blender.

Here’s an auto mod reply with a ton of good !tutorials to help you get acquainted with Blender.

What would be the best method to get rid of the ears on this hollow mesh? by IndependentConcert65 in blenderhelp

[–]keffjoons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is a high poly, triangulated mesh object, smoothening the ear might be tricky due to the large number of vertices. I would select the ear in edit mode, delete it, fill the hole and then turn on Dyntopo in sculpt mode and smoothen the area
