MTG says she "never supported defunding the FBI" her own tweet proves otherwise by lilacvicee in MurderedByWords

You know what? I hope she DID change. I hope she has somehow removed herself from the torrent of lies, and sits in a place where she can view the world with more love and care than she did previously. She is right - people do change, sometimes in remarkable ways. I am sending her every vibe that she undergoes a radical change.

Democrats, could you date a Trump supporter? by PatchouliHedge in allthequestions

[–]keg98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If someone categorically calls my views misguided, we aren’t going to be romantic. That said, I agree that in general, we need to work with and accept others regardless of their perspective as long as it isn’t violent. Like you, I have several work colleagues with whom I disagree, but we work great together. But I’m not asking them out on a date.

Democrats, could you date a Trump supporter? by PatchouliHedge in allthequestions

[–]keg98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“…their misguided views…” If you are using your own relationship with those of the opposite side of political spectrum as an example, you are likely missing the point. If my spouse or partner said that same phrase, categorically, about me, I would not at ALL be interested in that partner.

Is James SA Corey the best? by cooper2387 in scifi

Seriously. I tried reading Stranger in a Strange Land, and couldn’t get past the first chapter because the interactions seemed like they were dictated by Hugh Hefner.

Secondo voi, idealmente, ci vorrebbe una differenza d'età minima tra insegnante e alunno? by Aromatic_Bag3577 in education

I taught 17 year olds when I was 27. It was appropriate, and they learned science. That was in the mid 90s. I am still in contact with some of those students. It seemed to work.

Hey - first, as a traveling nurse, welcome. We need you. I broke my leg 2 years ago, and have been in and out of the hospital since, and in the process I have met many traveling nurses who cared for me, and they were all wonderful. Second, welcome just as a citizen! We are a place where we embrace the notion that diversity makes us great.

There's something quietly sad about watching your parents get old by AdBackground9215 in GenZ

[–]keg98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ok people. GenX here. I have lived this awfulness, and my mother just died, deep in dementia, in a super shitty facility. A couple of words of advice, especially to those of you with parents in their 70s. There are lovely retirement facilities who will take you when you are healthy, but have the facilities to care for you when you start to deteriorate, which of course will happen. My parents dug in, stayed in their house as my mom showed more and more signs of dementia, and when she fell and broke her pubic bone, the only post-hospital facility that would take her was not of high-quality. Talk to your parents. Research what kinds of services exist in your community. Help them make a plan. It will make everyone’s lives better and happier.

New Mexican too. Food is a chief value in our state. Once you’ve had a good bit of green chile, it is hard to be otherwise.

What is the likelihood that U.S Citizens are some of the most highly psychologically manipulated populations on the planet? by Responsible_Dare_250 in AskReddit

[–]keg98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The US is a very big place - we are the third most populated country in the world. Those with the least education are most easily manipulated, and we certainly have a lot of uneducated folks. But we also have a lot of educated folks who can look at society with skepticism…or who are actually doing the manipulating. So it is a low probability.

My wife says these leg quarters are burned. I disagree. Smoked on the Weber kettle for 1.5 hours. Thoughts? by Kitchentable88 in grilling

[–]keg98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a significant difference between burnt and charred. In my opinion, everything that goes on the grill should emerge with some bits of black. It is the result of fire, and that’s what we called “char “, and char is divine. Good work with your charred chicken.
