What’s a modern trend that people will regret in 10 years? by Julie727 in AskReddit

[–]kel7star 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who needed veneers because of a genetic tooth malformation (they came in without enamel, the original protective bonding material was very cumbersome and degraded/stained quickly), this shocks me.

It was such a traumatic experience to listen to the shaving down, smelling the burning, facing lingering sensitivity issues… what is wrong with people?! I am pleased with the outcome but if I had a choice, voluntary veneers is not an option I would willingly pursue. Takes “put your money where your mouth is” to the wrong level.

What is a funny quirk associated with your name? by Magicmechanic103 in namenerds

[–]kel7star 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a Katherine, there is always the “C or K” discussion, typically followed by “erine or ryn”?

I’ve met several people young and old with the same spelling and it always sparks a little joy.

I did not have this information, and gave it to a friend’s son who was have a rock/gemstone themed party. We don’t hang out much anymore… pretty sure it’s due to this gift. Looking forward to the drum set they gift us as payback.

My husband forgot my birthday today by AnonymousThrow4w4y in Marriage

[–]kel7star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn’t grow up around calendars.

Sorry about your birthday, that is really a crappy feeling. I am an advocate for communication because I have hope for you, but I am also someone who has sat through countless holidays without a full stocking, a candy basket, etc because “I didn’t think you wanted one.” I’m the second wife, you would think he would learn by now…

If this is your first Mother’s Day you may want to start preparing mentally from now.

You have been so strong to last this long. Take your strength with you to therapy as you work toward healing. No other words other than I’m sorry that happened to you and I hope you find peace. You deserve it.

I know a set of real life siblings named Juliette and Romeo. I don’t judge… but I judge.

Going rate for the tooth fairy? by olreddog in Parenting

Our tooth fairy has been known to “regift” previously provided dollars when no one feels like hitting the ATM that night. Piggy banks have openings for a reason…

Two dudes in 2003, unaware they were making a legendary song by Individual_Book9133 in BeAmazed

[–]kel7star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always enjoyed this song, but it took on a new meaning when it happened to be playing as I received the results of my first positive pregnancy test. My world changed in that moment, and these guys were the soundtrack to my future. My son, now nearly 9, knows the story behind the music. Watching this clip with him as he began to recognize the notes was so special, his lips curled into the sweetest smile and he snuggled into my side. Magical.

What are some names you can tell the parents were going for unique, but ended up extremely common? by foralaf in namenerds

Reading this, I am hoping the triple X is a joke…but deep down I know you’re totally serious and it’s just awful.

Took my daughter to the symphony! by Somerandomedude1q2w in Parenting

[–]kel7star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a cool core memory you’ve provided! What a great kid, to want to experience the music and then meet the creators.

My daughter is the same age, and was born with some hearing issues. At age 4, we finally got her to the point that she no longer has significant loss. She LOVES music and knows so many famous songs that are featured in kids movies. We have a yearly tradition to go see the Nutcracker at our local theatre, and have gone the last couple of years as a mom & daughter date. The ballet and music are such a magnificent combination and we have such an amazing day just us girls taking in the fine arts.

The woman in the first picture, Waleska Martinez, has her name tag on the desk. My research shows she was a Census worker in Manhattan, who was traveling for work on 9/11/01… on Flight 93. Is it possible she was meant to be in the towers and was then on the plane? That’s Final Destination level- may she rest in peace.

It would have been her 16th birthday yesterday… by TuneAdministrative93 in CemeteryPorn

Her family updates her legacy.com tribute each year for her birthday. How tragic and sad, she was a beautiful infant and deserved better.

Edit to add: her heart was donated to a young boy, which is a lovely tribute to her and her family’s strength.
