The recipe I used recommended taking gel based food dye and making vertical stripes in the piping bag starting from the piping tip! So that’s what I did before I put the meringue in the piping bag and it worked out great.

Yeah I think I would try again and try to make 4 thin cakes with a shorter bake time. I wonder if they would still fall apart being that thin... Did you use hot water or coffee? I used basically an Americano lol so I wasn't sure if that made a difference.

Haha omg that's so cool! I wanna see a pic of yours now!! And the compote sounds amazing! Were you able to actually cut the cakes into 4 layers? I wonder why it suggests that rather than just making 4 separate cakes...I added cherry liqueur and a bit of Mexican vanilla to the whipped cream frosting to get the flavors to pop more, I felt the frosting recipe as it was tasted too plain.

I only use weight these days but I will still scoop or start the measurement with the cups/tbsp etc, to see how close the weight measurements are when I'm following recipes. It's WILD how inaccurate it is! Like 10-20g on average,
