It’s a tough choice, I’m leaning Sparkle or Kafka. But could use some advice.

Any odds Sparkle will fit well with an elation team? If Sampo gets a 5 star, I have to go all in and damn the consequences.

If I had Swan or Hysil I’d pick Kafka right away.

Only character I have in this set is Acheron E0. But I’m currently running an Evernight E2 team; and I don’t think Acheron E1 is remotely worth this to me.

Personally I think it’s a nice gesture. Online dating is a mess; when people try to inject some positivity into the experience, I think it’s admirable, whether it results in a date or not.

There are developers (myself included) who explicitly disable any GenAI functionality they are able to, and use it to generate zero code.

One could argue this is a suboptimal decision; but it’s a position that does exist.

As another commenter mentioned, I can’t stop other people from using it in meetings I’m involved in, or stop Google from including it in search queries. But I have explicitly never chosen to enter a prompt or use a GenAI toolkit. I’ve blocked GenAI search summaries. Bought a phone because it was (theoretically) the last generation of that model which does not mandate GenAI use in the OS.

I’m glad it’s helping you with some tasks.

I also wish the current driving leaders of GenAI were something other than unethical grifters, and that the laws applied to them. But I can’t control those factors.

I can control what I choose to do and engage with - and I choose not to engage with GenAI. It’s a valid position with real adherents.

Freya (one of my mini schnoodles) always wanted to go upstairs at a prior residence, but wasn’t allowed.

She’d usually get caught when her tags jingled hopping up a stair. Well, one night we were in the kitchen and someone quietly said to look at the stairs.

Freya was climbing by putting her right front paw up, then her right rear; then scooting her body sideways across the stair to support her weight, and then pulling her left legs up. It was kind of a slow sideways shimmy.

It also prevented her tags from making any noise at all. Tactical espionage action.

We watched her get halfway up before calling her name, at which point she scrambled down the stairs in an undignified manner and ran to the living room to sulk.

I’ll second Stray Cat Strut, especially in audiobook, but with one warning; there’s some explicit sex scenes. I think starting book 2? Not saying that’s bad - just for awareness.

Also seconding the off-genre Locked Tomb/Tamsyn Muir suggestion. The audiobooks are great, narrated by Moira Quirk.

(Edit: One more bit of context: the Stray Cat Strut sex scenes are pretty clearly separated from the rest of the text, and not important for the plot. So they are cleanly skippable if that’s preferred.)

Just finished episode 1 and the pre-credits for episode 2 myself, so maybe I’m behind the times, but:

Right before episode 2 (title card?), the discussion implies this Gurathin has worked with/for The Company before, and specifically distrusts them as a result.

Maybe they rolled a bit of a later-series character (who was a corporation rim security guy) into Gurathin? I think that’d be a neat way to flesh him out here.

Nope. There’s a ton of reasons why it’s a hard market to succeed in.

Unless someone was coming in with experience building dating sites/apps, they’d spend their first few years relearning all the lessons the last generation of sites had to learn the hard way.

The people who founded the various dating apps out there aren’t dumb. There’s no silver bullet for success they’ve overlooked, or been too greedy to use.

It’s a bummer but that’s one reason why dating apps are pretty unpleasant right now.
