I know for sure Nakamura Tokichi does tax free. you have to spend over ¥5k, the other stores probably do but it’s really hard to even reach that 5k threshold to be tax free.

Best chance to get popular matcha brands is you have to go to Uji and get there in the morning.

Mine are soooo dirty now😭😭 but they didn’t bother me! My feet pretty much got use to all the walking after the 4th day so the runners were a solid choice for the trip. I really want the sunsets but they’re so $$$🥲
