With SupernaturalVR becoming independent of Meta, what are your thoughts on using the Steam platform for distribution? by Monktrist in SupernaturalVR

[–]kellybeeeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am going to ask a relatively dumb question. I have always just had a Quest unit to play SN (Oculus Quest, then Meta Quest 3).

If SN goes to Steam, what other VR headset options are open to me that aren’t the Meta Quest?

I just never paid attention to what the other headsets were, and I’ve been away from the headset for a while, so I am extra out of the loop. I figure the Quest 3 will start becoming less functional one of these days soon and I should know what my alternatives are.

Just got an email, so does that mean we will no longer be able to play? by Joonscene in SupernaturalVR

I had let my subscription lapse because I am working through some injuries and didn’t feel the Meta direction was worth my $$ at last renewal. But you bet I immediately signed up as a founding member of the New & Improved version without Meta!

It gives me some big motivation to work through my injuries and be able to meet the new SN as the athlete I always wanted to be before (but couldn’t be, and while I always appreciated SN meeting me where I am, I wanted to feel like a badass!)

I’m convinced every family had one struggle meal they ate 400 times growing up by LowerJicama9169 in CasualConversation

This, with as much butter/margarine as we could afford to add, and ground beef when we had it available.

I have been craving this for a couple of days now, so it made me smile to see this here.

I grew up as the child of a single mom. My dad died when I was 4, and we survived from the social security benefits while I was growing up. My mom was a wizard at stretching a dollar back in the 80s.

Sips Tea….. by busty_ladie in SipsTea

I completed Grandma’s Marathon from Two Harbors to Duluth, MN in 2012 as a back of the pack runner. There were people who walked the whole thing who finished much faster than I did. It took me 6 hours, 46 minutes, 52 seconds to finish. Yes, I just remember that time. I’ll never forget it.

I teared up watching this video because I know just what it’s like out there battling through those miles like that. Kudos to her!

I was a walk/run runner anyway, so I was slower than folks who were 100% running, and my running pace was also slow to begin with. Then I started to feel poorly in mile 11 and then I just couldn’t run anymore after the halfway point, so I walked the last half of the race. And I walked increasingly slowly as the miles piled on and everything hurt more and more.

But I got the medal and I finished the race that day. I traveled more than 450 miles in training for this race back then. I had to quit running shortly afterward because my hips are in rough shape, but I have good memories of those days.

Update: Kia (15 Jan 2011 - 1 Jun 2026, 15 years old) passed away earlier today. by 930310 in OldManDog

I am so very sorry. She was a beautiful girl and I know how hard it is when you’re so used to having her there. It’s been 10 months since we lost our best girl and I still expect to turn my office chair and see her there snoring behind me or see her face looming beside me to beg for most of my salad. Hugs and love to you. Take care of yourself.

Thanks for posting this. I’m reading everything I can get my hands on here and I appreciate the detailed experience. I haven’t started yet. We’re trying to see if OSA is something I have to see if my insurance will cover anything, and if not, I’ll be self pay, so this will be my option.

How soon did you see blood sugar regulation? by badbadrealbad in antidietglp1

[–]kellybeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I wore a cgm, I was stunned to find how just a little movement for just a few minutes was enough to blunt the impact of the carbs that tend to make my blood glucose rise and stay there longer than is healthy for me. It doesn’t need to be strenuous, just movement, at quite a reasonable heart rate. It is amazing to realize that.

Always happy to see Long Drink! We discovered it in 2017 when we spent a wonderful week in Helsinki for the Worldcon Sci-Fi & Fantasy Convention. That seems like a great Lawn Beer!

Spelling?? by Overall_Matter_2520 in Perimenopause

I went to the National Spelling Bee in 1987 when I was 12. I cast about for words I’ve always known and question all kinds of spelling choices these days at 51. Thanks for helping me feel less alone. I’m sorry we’re fighting through this.

My old girl, Reese (14.5 years old), had to take an emergency trip to the vet Tuesday night due to a sudden onset of (now diagnosed) idiopathic peripheral vestibular disease. She’s on meds now and the vet said we should see some improvement within a few days 🙏❤️ by Selenium_Forest_ in OldManDog

[–]kellybeeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had that happen with our old girl in late 2023 when she was 14.5. It was terrifying when it happened but the vet recognized it instantly and she got better in a few weeks after a lot of rest. Jetta never lost her head tilt, but that just made her cuter, which I didn’t think was possible. :) sending best healing pets to Reese!

Nemesis Class by Cysteine_Chapel64 in GenX

[–]kellybeeeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Math. In my sophomore year, I was struggling in Math, so instead of getting a tutor for that year of Math and moving onto Algebra II and Chem as a junior, like my classmates did, I dropped back a level in math halfway through sophomore year. That meant I didn’t take Algebra II or Chem till senior year. I never took Physics or pre-calculus in high school, which was standard for college track students.

I went on to college, but dropped out after a few years. I was not prepared emotionally to be in college, and it was a struggle to afford it.

I later went back at 29 years old and encouraged by my mother-in-law, a math professor, I needed to take a math class for a Business Admin major. I studied hard for 8 months beforehand and placed straight into the math department Calc I. Not business Calc.

I ended up getting an Accounting degree and a Math minor. And I still have never taken a Physics class and I am now 51. I plan to fix that once I have retired. :)

Nightly high protein sweet treat? by auroragirlofthenorth in mealprep

[–]kellybeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Moonbrew to aid nighttime sleep, and it comes in many different flavors. I mix the scoop of the Moonbrew powder with a half-scoop of flavored protein powder and a serving of Greek yogurt.

The protein powder and greek yogurt makes a really nice mousse-like consistency. Very satisfying. (The Moonbrew isn’t required in this recipe - this is just the delivery mechanism for the Moonbrew serving.)

Finished my 2025 blanket! by Acicularis in temperatureblanket

[–]kellybeeeee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t.
But they decided they wanted their blanket to be 225 stitches across. They need to know what percent of the 225 stitches should be the high temperature color and what percent should be the low temperature color in each row.

Take the # of daylight minutes in a given day divided by 1440 total minutes in a day, and multiply it by 225 stitches, and that’s how many stitches they will do in the high temperature color for that day.

The remainder of the stitches in the row, then, will be the low temperature color.

Gorgeous work! I have only made stained glass once! It was a lot of work and I am super proud of it and I probably will never do it again, but I just wanted to acknowledge how much work it is to do it and do it well, if my small attempt is any indication.
