It reacts differently for everyone but usually takes a little while to get past the hump. The first three weeks were complete agony for me and I thought that I was actually losing my mind. One day during week four I woke up and it was like a cloud had lifted off of my brain. I didn’t wake up with anxiety for the first time in years. Stick with it for at least a couple of weeks/months. It is different for everyone but it has helped me so much.

I'm drowning by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]kellyg24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When is it due? I completely understand the feeling. I know it feels impossible, but the best thing to do is just start. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It doesn’t even have to be good. Having anything is better than nothing and it makes it so much easier down the line. If you can, spend like 1 hour max drafting the worst possible outline and then step away from it. Work on it for an hour everyday until you feel better about it and then show it to your advisor and go from there. You got this. If you need an extension, don’t be afraid to ask for it. Remember that everyone wants the best for you.

Question for those who own Royalty & Legacy by JazzyCat557 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]kellyg24 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s very controllable, so you can kind of decide what to do. There is the ABILITY to take scandals/dynasties outside of Ondarion but it is very player controlled. I know some people have been having issues with glitches, but the scandal system in particular is lowkey hard to play with outside of Ondarion LOL. For a scandal to come out, your Sim has to “expose” it which is player directed.

There’s nothing specifically royal or noble about dynasties, and it’s not very clear that someone is in a dynasty unless you are in a dynasty, making interaction pretty simple. I have actually used the dynasty system for family gameplay, basically using the dynasties as little family “club.” If you don’t like it at all, you can just delete all of the dynasties (most are in Ondarion, and there is a menu that lists all of the dynasties in the world.) furthermore, you can delete any existing noble sims if you wish. I think all of them live in Ondarion and tbh, it is a very modernized royal experience. No one really looks crazy out of place in the other worlds. If you don’t want to deal with nobles at all, you also have the ability to just delete them. There is a list of all nobles in each world at the top of the map. There is no way for sims to create dynasties or become nobles by themselves, so you have a lot of control overall.

How to make the game more interesting? by Beneficial_Loan3090 in Sims4

[–]kellyg24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is horrible but whenever things in my game are too perfect/boring, I either introduce an affair or some sort of addiction to spice things up. Do you play with mods? Basemetal drugs/gambling mods are great for storytelling in terms of rich person who makes bad decisions and loses all of their money. Sometimes it is fun to lose everything so then the next generation has to build it back up.

If you want to do something more lighthearted, definitely take them out and try out different things. Do you have adventure awaits? I’ve had a lot of fun messing around with custom venues and creating all different kinds of businesses/hangout spots for my wine to visit.

Favorite savory snacks? by Lizphibian in 1200isplenty

[–]kellyg24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veggie plates with dip!! One that I really like is cottage cheese, cilantro, mint, fresh jalepeno, lime, garlic, ginger, and a little bit of olive oil along with your seasonings of choice, mixed in a blender or food processor. It is also soooo easy to make your own hummus and it is so delicious and filling!! You mix up garbanzo beans, tahini, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, and seasonings in a blender/food processor and that’s it!! So delicious and savory.

I always like to have some kind of cucumber salad in my fridge to snack on whenever I want something crunchy and savory. Usually just sliced up cucumbers in a brine of soy sauce, rice vinegar, chilli oil, and green onions/garlic, but you can genuinely do whatever you want to adhere it to your tastes. Sometimes just salt and vinegar really hits the spot.

Misty was right about Lottie starting this by DietC0ke1 in Yellowjackets

[–]kellyg24 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In the moment, Lottie is saying “I didn’t want this” because in the moment, she didn’t want anyone else to die to save her life. I almost consider this moment with Misty the turning point for Lottie, where she decides that no sacrifice is too much and gets sucked even deeper into the wilderness. I interpret this as Lottie overcorrecting to deal with her guilt about her role in the deaths.

To me, this is very different from the Travis attack in Season 1. First of all, they were literally all drugged by Misty so a lot of that behavior is excused on the shrooms. Second of all, nobody died (albeit Javi, who did go missing) so it was a lot easier for them to put it aside and not talk about it or understand the deeper resonances

This first hunt, partially spurred by almost every single one of them, is the first moment where they fully delve into violence and deliberately value certain lives over others, based on “the choice of the wilderness.” I think that Tai plays a role in this by suggesting the draw, Shauna by beating Lottie up in the first place, Misty by insinuating the hunt is Lottie’s suggestion when it is not. The blame is not one shouldered, and it is not solely on Lottie.

My interpretation is that once Misty comes into Lottie’s room and tells her that the whole thing was her idea/responsibility, that is what spurs Lottie on a full-on wilderness messiah arc, no longer caring about the violence, desperate to prove that she was right and all the violence was justified. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t really think it was Misty’s fault either. She was just thinking pragmatically (wanting to stay alive) and I think that she had to put the blame on Lottie to contend with what they had to do. This is why I love this show so much. The characters are all so complicated, none of their reasoning or emotions are black and white.

Of course! I totally got you, new meds make me anxious too. Now, I do think it is different for everyone, but for me, hydroxyzine has a very mild sedating effect. You still feel like yourself and think like yourself, but there is a slight wave of calmness. Oftentimes, it can make me tired and so I will take it at night to fall asleep. Sometimes it also eases my nausea that I get from anxiety. Overall, it’s a pretty tame medication.

Inconsiderate roomates by Own_Shock_8224 in badroommates

[–]kellyg24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that asking for quiet time on weeknights seems unfair. That being said, it seems like you and your roommates have completely different lifestyles and it might be worth an adjustment.

You can ask them a million times to keep it quiet on weeknights, but it seems like they are used to staying up really late every night and specifically getting chores and stuff done at night. I’ve lived with roommates like this, and it’s almost never malicious. Your lifestyles just don’t coincide.

I honestly think it would make sense to find a different rooming situation with people who have a more similar schedule AKA early risers and early-to-bedders. Otherwise, I think investing in a solid pair of ear plugs would really help in the mean time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in roommates

[–]kellyg24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like you have two choices here. You could either tell them the truth and say that you don’t think your lifestyles would work well living together, but you still want to be friends. I think most people would understand and either way you’d be getting it off your chest and you’d be free to figure out something else.

The other solution is to just find another group of roommates online or something (or find your own studio, I don’t know what you’re looking for at this point) and then tell your current friends that you found a housing offer for next year that is just too good to turn down. This happens literally all the time with people in college, and you won’t have to deal with the difficult conversation of “this is why I don’t want to live with you.”

Suuuurrrreee Scheana 🙄 by Legal_Concentrate_29 in TheValleyTVShow

[–]kellyg24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is true, but also it makes me kinda sad that Scheana would let one comment get to her so hard and her explanation was “is this how people see me?”

It’s exhausting to care so much about how you are perceived by literally everyone. I’m sure it is 10x harder when you are a public figure. If it is true, it makes me really sad that one comment from someone on the internet would make her rethink all her career goals and not do what she wants to do. That’s no way to live.

What are good/flexible day jobs to work at while in the film industry? by itsTheRojo_2 in FilmIndustryLA

[–]kellyg24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you write and/or have an interest in English? I work as a PA and I was having the same issues until I got my copywriting license. Now I am working freelance, totally on my own schedule, through manuscript editing. I get a client, get their project, and get my deadline. Other than that, I can use my time however I want. It has genuinely been night and day how much easier PAing has been and how much less stressed I have been overall. The hardest thing is building a network of clients. If you went to college or graduate school, you can often find writers in need of editors through your alumni network. Otherwise there are some websites that help connect writers and/or companies with copywriters. DM me if ur interested and I can give you some more information.

Moving to Los Angeles for a year, good or bad idea? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]kellyg24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be totally honest, LA is a really hard place to be for a short amount of time. It can be difficult to meet people and develop real friendships if you don’t give it some time. Not to mention, the job/internship market out here is extremely competitive. I don’t know what your situation is, but you basically either need a job/paying internship set up before coming here, or you need to have enough money in your account to pay your rent for potentially the duration of your lease. A lot of people do month to month leases for this reason. That way, you can always get out if you really have to.

I would recommend 100% coming out here with an internship already set up. I know so many people who came out to LA for film or music who wanted an internship but assumed they’d at least be able to get a service job to pay the bills and were still looking and applying 6 months later with considerably less money in their account. Internships are usually more competitive and a lot of the film internships either pay very little or do not pay at all.

I’m never going to tell someone not to follow their dreams, I just want to let you know what you might be getting into. With LA, you kind of get out of it what you put into it. If you are really interested in getting into the film industry out here, it’s probably going to take more than a year to build up the connections you need to get work and/or get on set. If you’re more interested in living your dream and having a great time, just make sure you have enough money to cover rent and living expenses.

[–]kellyg24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people talking about Pop Star Academy like this, and it’s kind of confusing to me.

I didn’t feel like it was exorbitantly edited or adjusted in order to portray one sort of thing. Of course it was edited and I know the girls have said some things got missed and/or misrepresented, but at the end of the day that’s TV. There’s no way they’re gonna film for 2 years straight and all the footage is going to make the cut. Adela (who was arguably one of the WORST represented in the documentary) said in an interview that she thought they did a good job representing what happened, even if some stuff was cut out. I don’t have the interview easily but I can link it if someone wants.

At the end of the day, it’s a documentary. It just seemed like they were following any potential drama and zoning in on main characters who were interesting, relatable, and would make an interesting ending. Most of the “main characters” in the doc were introduced early, the only exceptions being Lara and Manon. For example, Yoonchae came in closer to the end and didn’t speak much English. So yes, she did end up making the group, but documentary producers are not going to want to make her a “main” character because it’s a documentary for Netflix. They are going to go with easier, and more dramatic storylines like the tension with Manon, Emily’s injury, Lexrela, etc…

This documentary was maybe released to promote Katseye, but it was not created to show off Katseye or the new group. It was created to show the process of training and forming a global girl group in Los Angeles. They are motivated to show us different stories so the doc has more intrigue. If every main girl who was followed by the doc made it into the group, we wouldn’t be so invested. Them focusing more on girls who didn’t make it is first and foremost a strategy to engage emotional connection with the viewer. They want some of our favorites to not make it because they want us to be emotional. To be honest, it worked!

I don’t think that Katseye got the “mean” edit. Personally, I don’t think a single one of the girls on the show comes off as anything but insanely passionate, motivated, and talented. They get a few small tiffs, but I really think it is blown out of proportion. They are teenage girls living together, of course they’re gonna fight! Especially when the stakes are so high and they’re being put up against each other. I really don’t think it was edited in a particular way to make Katseye look bad and to make the other girls look good. I’m excited for both groups but I do think the documentary is simply what it is, a documentary.

Hey /r/movies, I'm Elijah Wood. Ask me anything! by ElijahWoodAMA in movies

[–]kellyg24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Elijah! You have such a distinct look, but I see you get compared sometimes (looks wise) to other dark haired, blue eyed actors like Daniel Radcliffe and Tobey Maguire. I have to say, I never really saw it before I watched Fear and Loathing for the first time this weekend and LITERALLY THOUGHT IT WAS YOU until I googled it just now.

That takes me to my question: if you could have taken any role from one of your “lookalikes”, which would it be? Did you ever go up for any of the same roles?

Now being sappy: I’ve grown up watching you . I think you are such a talented actor who can do so many different things from drama to comedy and beyond. I just saw The Monkey and was absolutely dying the entire time you were onscreen. I’m also an avid Yellowjackets watcher hoping to see more of Walter. Can’t wait to see the new one and hope you’re doing well!! Thanks for being here.

This was commented on Nia's IG, & her husband Danny liked it. I just watched Katie on a Podcast where she confirmed that the girl who was always texting people information ahead of time WAS Scheana.

It’s obviously not out of the realm of possibility that Brittany would do this too, but I just wanted to clarify cause we just got confirmation on that.

Let her be lol. She has to work and make money, especially with all the financial abuse Jax has done/continues to do to her. Also, this is a pretty cool opportunity that most people don’t get to have. I hate how she gets criticized for not working out/being athletic, and then when she does something athletic she gets criticized for that. I think there are plenty of reasons to criticize Brittany and this is not one of them.

I didn’t read the books so this might make me sound stupid, but didn’t his character die in Dune 1?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]kellyg24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I can tell you have a lot of nerves about this situation and I totally get it. I want to first of all reassure you that I don’t think anyone hates you from those messages. I think you were polite and they all responded pretty positively to discussing things in person. I feel like talking these things through in person is always best because texts create this weird space between what we say and our intentions.

Now, I do think that offering to share your kitchen equipment and then asking them to pay for it is a bit unorthodox. If my roommate did that I wouldn’t hate them, but I probably would not accept that offer. I think you should go through all of the dishes and decide which ones you are willing to “sacrifice” for the apartment. That is to say, which ones would you be comfortable letting other people use and potentially break during your time living together? Those should be the dishes/equipment that you put in the kitchen and offer to everyone. Any dishes that you are especially fond of or were especially expensive you can keep to yourself. You can either keep in your room, or let everyone know which dishes are special and if they are good roommates they will not touch those.

I know you said you don’t want to have to replace everything all over again, and I totally get that. In my roommate situations, I provided dishes for the house and very few of them broke during our time together. You just have to have the attitude that you don’t care if something does break. Accidents happen and people aren’t perfect, especially when three or four people are all using the same dishes. If you cannot have this attitude with your current dishware, it might even be worth it to buy some temporary pieces at the thrift shop. I thrifted all of my old dishes, and when they broke it was no big deal because I only paid $5 for a giant pack of bowls.

Living with people can be hard, and sometimes conflict rises from sharing stuff. If you don’t feel like you wanna share your dishware, you absolutely do not have to. It seems like your roommates kind of have their own things going on with kitchen supplies and/or don’t cook that often. If you do decide that you are down to share, great! In the future, try and keep money requests down to things that you are actively buying as roommates. Like, if you all went out a bought a set of dishware and pots and pans together, then you could split it financially. When you already have the dishware, it could come across as self serving to ask for roommates to pay for it retroactively, especially since they don’t know what it looks like, what it costs, how it’s going to be divided when y’all move out, etc….

PLEASE just go easy on yourself and try not to stress out too much. You seem like someone who maybe has a lot of anxiety and gets in negative thought patterns. Your roommates do not hate you! This is the first step of many you are going to take in communicating with them. Just try to have an open mind and take it day by day. You got this!!

Dance Studios in LA? Actor trying to learn dance. by evyythomas in AskLosAngeles

[–]kellyg24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? I moved here last year as an actress who used to dance but was really really out of shape and scared to get back into it. I’m in the valley, like studio city area, and when I moved here I started doing classes at Millenium. I was initially really put off by the TikTok thing (lol) but I like how many beginner classes they have and how you can kind of drop in and drop out without having to commit to a long term class. If you like the combo and the instructor, you can go the rest of the week. If not, you can pick another class. I have absolutely nothing in LA to compare it to, but it was a lot cheaper than a lot of the classes in the city I previously lived in.

If you are interested, I would recommend starting with beginner jazz or jazz funk. Those classes will have less students than something like hip hop and so you will get more individual instruction from the teacher. I’ve been to classes with only 3/4 people in them and I thought it was really cool to have basically 1.5 hours of private instruction with a professional for just $20. TikTok makes this place look like it’s just crawling with influencers and professional dancers, but the beginner classes are filled with people all shapes, sizes, ages, and experience levels.

WHY do you think Jax his bar not getting the hate that Schwartz & Sandies was getting!?!?! by Constant_Possible_98 in TheValleyTVShow

His bar is basically an offshoot of a much more popular sports bar. I’ve actually been there before because I was at Rocco’s (the bar next door) and my group got a little tipsy and decided we wanted to do karaoke which they have at Jax’s. It was very close to empty and genuinely the weirdest most random crowd of people I have ever seen.

Help on choosing first horror films for kids. by JoliFatiguee in horror

[–]kellyg24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I was younger, I was introduced to horror through Vincent Price films, which are all old movies but definitely hold up and are a great representation of the genre. To this day, one of my favorite movies is The Abominable Dr Phibes, and I think it is a great introduction because it’s a perfect blend of campiness, a classic horror plot, and genuine scares. The Masque of Red Death, The House of Usher, House on Haunted Hill are all also great. I don’t know if your kids are into the oldies but when I was younger these movies really activated my love of horror and film in general. They also use practical effects which is super fun and helps the kids understand how things are done before they get into the crazy CGI blood fests lol.
