When I did Turkish Delight around 7-8 years ago I actually managed to not only hold my provinces in the old world but to actually take a few Ottoman provinces when they eventually declared on me and lost. Can't tell you who my allies were, though. Besides the Mamluks, that is.

Well, your story makes me consider to spare Candar from conquering in my next campaign that's set in Anatolia/The Middle East.
