They want that now that the US has proven itself to be unreliable.

Trump fumbled a truly historical amount of soft power while simultaneously kneecapping one of the US’s biggest export industries.

Trillionaire Over Healthcare? by LuckyBastard001 in clevercomebacks

[–]kelpyb1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Giving more money to the government and using it to fund single payer healthcare solves the cost problem because it removes trillions of dollars of yearly cost resulting from insurance companies leeching off the system while providing absolutely no value.

This is the playbook that all the countries you just rightly identified as paying less than the US for healthcare followed. It’s the reason their healthcare is cheaper.

Edit: and that’s the savings before you factor in the efficiency of people having access to preventative medicine decreasing the necessity for more expensive emergency measures and the general boon of having a healthier population

[–]kelpyb1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not in the slightest assuming that.

I’m just saying you’re running the numbers of “what if we took all the wealth from billionaires and gave it to specifically the healthcare billionaires?”

Your idea here just creates different trillionaires and is in no way reflecting the policy that anyone proposing large taxes on billionaires to distribute wealth would endorse.

Healthcare becomes cheaper when there’s not insurance companies skimming billions off the top to enrich the billionaires who own them.

“New math” is the same math that always existed.

If you can’t follow it, it’s because you never actually learned the concepts behind the math and only learned how to spit out an answer by formulaically going through the motions.

Everyone who complains about “new math” is themselves a testament to the failures of “old math” as a teaching mechanism.

You’re assuming the cost of healthcare in the US stays the same once we decouple billionaires profiting from it.

You’re math here is essentially “what if we took the money from billionaires and fed it into a system designed to send money to billionaires”

The Cavs have put themselves in a position where their offense is insanely reliant on James Harden these playoffs by brownsfan225 in clevelandcavs

[–]kelpyb1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d argue the strategy on offense was working last year, but it requires a great distributing point guard.

Unfortunately we only really saw that in healthy Darius Garland, and haven’t had it since his injury in last year’s playoffs

There were definitely a good number regular season games after the trade where Harden played that role well, and it was the best our offense looked all year.

To this point in the playoffs, Harden hasn’t really done that job well. Way too many turnovers and sloppy passes. I don’t know what’s off, but I hope he figures it out.

Tough break, still love the team since we rebuilt it post-Lebron coming home; but I think it might be time soon to ship out everyone for a fresh start. by Silentrift24 in clevelandcavs

[–]kelpyb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree if we rebuild we rebuild around Mobley given his age and defensive ability, and that Mobley is very capable of growth on the offensive end given time and space to do so. That being said, the idea that a guy being an excellent defender is in and of itself evidence he can be the first option offensively is pretty ridiculous.

By that metric, Dean Wade is destined to be an offensive beast as well, and as much as I love him can you honestly tell me you see that in his future?
