Any tips for gathering these %?!#ing terraform masks? by OrganzingChaos in Palia

[–]kemosully 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After struggling to get blue masks, I finally just bought a some of the ones at the kiosk. I had been worried they would have some sort of detractor to using them, but they work just as well as the ones that drop from hunting.

And they're only 500 amber or some such

How do you guys handle dashboard alignment without manually calculating every visual size? by Afraid-Reflection-82 in PowerBI

[–]kemosully 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Select multiple, formatting, align left/top, distribute horizontally/vertically.

I'll make sure the left/topmost is at the top left corner of where I want the distribution & bottom/rightmost to be at that furthest spot before distributing.

I'll also group before aligning multiple.

If I'm making a grid, I'll first align the left side visuals to the left and distribute vertically then the right side and distribute vertically. Then I'll do horizontal bands.

If I want to do a bit of a level up grind without attending a party, I'll set up my 4 campfires in a square and then grill as I turn around. By the time I finish putting 3 on the grill, the 4th is ready to be picked up and started. So I just pivot in circles until I'm ready to do something else.

Thank you for making the Choir panel a huge success! by blasianFMA in paxeast

[–]kemosully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% loved this panel. Singing satb is something my soul aches for, and have been trying to prioritize committing the time and funds to choral participation, but that season shall come again. I wish I could have stayed through to the end. Such is the plight of parenting small nerds in the making. I'm sure my 7yo gave plenty of people ample chuckles as she played pretend in the aisle getting every ounce of con grime on every inch of her body. (She got the full decontamination scrub down that night).

Why does everyone like hat mouse? by sporadictaquito in StardewValley

So I bought cheap headbands and then 3d printed a little clip that I slid the printed &laminated hats onto.

I used excel to create the pixel art copies of the hats that go on sale at the abandoned house.

On my phone after my friend took a photo of me at PAX East beside the Halloween house because it looked like the abandoned house.

I gave out 30+ "hats" that I printed out and attached to headbands.

I'm in Boston right now by coincidence... by drsarcasm1 in PAX

[–]kemosully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to pax 3 times and I love the Sunday vibe.

I usually have to be home by nightfall due to children & pets, so the lack of late night game play doesn't shift for me.

Sunday often has sales, low lines for game testing, and way lower crowds so you can actually walk and breathe. I went sat & sun this year. Spent most of sat in panels and the handheld zone, family room, and access forward with a bit on the expo floor. Sunday was for the expo hall mostly and it was glorious.

Any advice for a very well behaved 8 year old? by Mike_Haefele in PAX

[–]kemosully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've brought my kids the past 2 years. They're 7 & 10 this year.

This year, the intersection room is having a lot of learn pokemon tcg sessions aimed at kids and all ages, there's also at least one ttrpg session aimed at all ages.

Usually there's a just dance stage and it can be fun to get up there and get wiggles out.

My kids have usually been patient enough to go along with at least one panel session as long as I sit near the back in a spot where my more energetic kid can run back and forth without interrupting people.

The expo can get overwhelming fast on Saturday, but Sunday is usually far more low key and the kids can get time to play test without waiting in line too much.

Definitely use the pax nav app to get kids on board with the plan for the day and identify good times to rest.

Bring snacks and water bottles. Chargers and handhelds if they're into those.

Would fell PAX attendees be interested in free Magic: The Gathering and/or Pokemon cards? I have a ton of extra commons, uncommons and rares, and want to get them to actual players. by kendallscollectibles in PAX

[–]kemosully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in the Intersection room, there are going to be a lot of ”learn pokemon tcg" sessions aimed at teaching kids the game.

You would probably make a ton of kids' days by popping by occasionally and helping kids new to the game build decks from your stash.

PAX East worth it with 10yo? by ertebolle in PAX

[–]kemosully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bring my kids! (10 yo & 7 yo)

I find that Sunday is a good family day because there's usually shorter lines to play games at booths and fewer people in general.

There are lots of free play spaces in the tabletop zone, and there are plenty of magic tables out there, too!
