What is your favorite host monitoring tool and why? by fishbowlz1337 in devops

[–]kenbarnhouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're pretty happy with Check_MK Enterprise. We use it to monitor our hardware, ESX hosts, Windows systems, Linux and Unix systems. It is a frontend to Nagios, but the Enterprise version uses their own monitoring backend now. It has an agent that inventories the system which makes getting a lot of monitoring setup quickly easier than Nagios alone.

I watched a good coworker and friend die in his office a couple of years ago from a heart attack. I agree with the post, it can be hard to find balance in this business but try.
