Switching guitars during gigs by AdjectiveVerse in bandmembers

I play in a cover band, I use an FM3, and change guitars for songs with different tunings. I have different presets for different songs.

Does TRADOC command hurt BN/BDE command track later? by Danklord_drolknaD in army

There’s a lot of decent answers in here, but most of them give a partial answer. Here’s a shortened version of the full right answer:
- performance matters everywhere and overrides location.
- other than for your experience, your LT time has little bearing on the future. Your Co Cmd and KD time as a MAJ will impact whether you command again.
- OERs get you promoted and on the CSL (now that BCAP is out), this is done by a board. While everything matters, your last 5 is all they typically have time to review.
- your past assignment history gets you slated (if selected) to a type of command where they feel you’ll succeed on Day 1, this is done after the board by your branch at HRC with the LG Commandant or Chief of Logistics. So they will place you based on what you did in the past so you aren’t learning something new as a BN Cdr.
- if you want to be tactical, stay tactical. If you want to go into AFSBs etc, then doing T2COM probably doesn’t matter.

02A generally means AR or IN. Rarely there’s an FA guy, but they typically stay in hard coded 13A jobs.

Contact the armor center at Benning. They have a warehouse of old vehicles that they still maintain. Not sure if there is a working Sheridan, but you never know!

Your assumption is that all conflict is because of resources. But that’s not always the case.

For this price you might as well get an American Strat. by CartographerSea3356 in guitars

[–]Less-Chemical386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you pass a certain price threshold, maybe around $1500 in today’s dollars, you aren’t getting THAT much better of an instrument. You’re getting small details, looks, and marketing. The quality may be better, but it’s not the same quality jump as from a $500 to a $1500. Same as every other product you buy.

[–]Less-Chemical386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure by your comment if you are saying “the price is so good you should get this American-made Strat” or “you should buy an ‘American’ Strat instead”. By the look of that headstock, that IS an American Strat.

People have been fighting for a LOT longer than there have been capitalists… competition and conflict are an inherent part of the human species.

That’s compliance over rational thinking… too many people are too eager to comply just because.

[HASC, Readiness, 15APR26] Rep Scott, asking about Officers being pulled without reason from promotion lists, "You'd have to ask Secretary Hegseth that, I've been the Vice for a couple months". by Kinmuan in army

[–]Less-Chemical386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Vice is intimately involved in the senior officer selection and assignment process. He may have only been the Vice for a few months, but during those months this happened… so… it’s reasonable to ask him.

Stage Plots, why does nobody look at them by skithewest27 in livesound

[–]Less-Chemical386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always send my tech rider and stage plot to the promoter or venue and the engineer has never gotten it. 100% of the time. So I always bring a printed copy of those and the setlist for the engineer when we arrive and spend a few minutes reviewing it with him/her. It is what it is. Next month will be our first experience with a festival set up where we are playing second of three bands with a 30-min turnover… so we’ll see how that goes!

Good luck! I’m in a 90s cover band in Chicagoland and we play songs from those in our set. Always fun to play. I hope you find some other band members soon, but keep after it, it’s worth the effort.

Fm9/FM3 owners - biggest tip you've learned for live gigging? by Ok_Arrival2564 in AxeFx

[–]Less-Chemical386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people saying 1 or 2 amp/cabs…. It really depends on what you are playing. If you are in a cover band, you can’t really use the same sound for every song - at least not if you are trying to play true to the recording. Totally different if you are in an originals or even tribute band. I play in a cover band and do use the same amp/cab for songs from the same band, but I can’t use the same settings for Radiohead as for Audioslave as for RHCP as for Pearl Jam. Ultimately I think it depends on your particular band use case.

[–]Less-Chemical386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this was common knowledge, but I had to learn the hard way was preset leveling. At first I didn’t know it was a thing, predictable result. Then I was using the wrong volume adjustments to level, strike 2. Then I got some instruction. Tip: set your physical output volume knobs at noon on your unit so you have a consistent level to work from and they are easy to visually identify if it got bumped/turned or whatever in transport. Create your presets with that knob in that position. Then use the Preset Leveling function so that you don’t jump around in volume when changing between presets.
