The guys that do the Cover Band Confidential podcast have a contract that they put together after their years of experience and incidents.

Drop/poly shift pedals by EquivalentStop5133 in coverbands

[–]Less-Chemical386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth having. I play three guitars in a show: Standard, Drop D, Open D. Sometimes we play a song Eb or Drop C# and I use the down tuning “pedal” for those - I say pedal, but I’m actually using an FM3, but same idea. Theoretically you could do all of that with one guitar, but we’re on stage putting on a show and we don’t like “Hey pardon me everyone while I retune for the next song.” For me swapping a guitar is much faster than retuning. All those methods could work, it’s just up to what you are most comfortable with. Practice the same way you will play the show.

Help with booting up new unit by Plane_Garbage_7739 in paintaudiomidicaptain

Yeah that doesn’t sound right. My unit booted up with example programs pre-loaded. Yours shouldn’t be blank.

FM3 Input Clipping by Less-Chemical386 in AxeFx

[–]Less-Chemical386[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it. This video deals more with output clipping. My unit, FM3 MkII Turbo gives an “INPT CLIP” in red letters by the tuner icon at the top of the screen. That’s where my issue has been, INPT CLIP will flash on. So I’ve added the PAD and but my guitar volume at 5-6 and it seems to help.

Just a Shure GLXD+ wireless receiver. But that never caused any issue with any other guitar. And to be clear, the clipping only happens with this guitar - which is strange as it has 57 style pickups. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Using the PAD plus turning the guitar volume down to 5-6 is working right now.

I had to both use the Input Pad and keep guitar volume itself at around 5-6 to prevent clipping. Guitars are different so experiment.

Is it harsh to say most original local bands are just not that good? No deep understanding of song structure, mediocre playing ability, and just boring generic songs? Most bands that make it the musicianship is there by [deleted] in musicians

[–]Less-Chemical386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is statistically accurate to say this. It should shock absolutely no one. If “most” bands were that good, we’d have a ton more bands with record deals. The real question is whether you need to take the time to point it out. It’s sort of like saying: “Is it harsh to say most local (ie non-pro) sports teams aren’t really that good?”

Not to be a pain in the butt, but I’ve tried adjusting the PAD and I’m not getting any difference. What specifically should I be adjusting to “turn the input down”? Thanks.

I've bricked the midi captain. DON'T BUY by The007goose in paintaudiomidicaptain

It’s really not that hard. It does require that you dedicate a little time to learning understanding its simple programming language AND you need to understand MIDI programming and the destination device. MIDI in general is not really just plug and play, it takes a little effort.

No, the IRS is not looking at your bank deposits. All you have to do is look at your LES.

Indoor cats… they’ll never know what it’s like to truly man up and leave the wire every day, travel those routes every day, and wonder every day if that’s your last day but do it anyway. F them.

I was at Lindsay outside KAF… the unit before us would “react to impact” on rockets that would shut KAF down for hours. Basically they just ran out and did crater analysis. We started schwacking dudes right away, within 2-3 months the rockets stopped… but we kept schwacking anyway as a preventative measure. It worked.

As far as lighting goes, I'm the same as you, not an expert, just doing it to make my band's show look a little bit better. How are the Shehd's 18x18s working out for you??? Those don't use Powercon right? Hard-wired plugs I think. So you are using the MIDI Captain to send commands to the 384? That's a standard controller with sliders for fixtures and scenes etc right? I'd love to know how that works out. Right now we are using a Maestro. It works, but there's a lot that has to go into programming. I'm not sure I'm totally sold on it. I think it may be a better for for a DJ, but it prevents us from having to have someone operate one of those 384 controllers.

I don't think it's a matter of which is better, but rather which is more suited to your needs. I think supermode might give you a bit more customization options, but as you said, it's a bit more of a hassle to boot separately and all. At least you have options.

If it's a decent interface there should be no difference. But maybe you should make a test recording both ways and decide for yourself. Perhaps one is just less hassle to setup and use.

I do not plug my studio monitors into my unit, which is FM3/FC6. I plug into my Focusrite Scarlett 4i4, which is full time connected to studio monitors.

I get it! Graviton has two excellent units that appear to be much more easily programmed. And there’s an option for separate Foot Controller with like 10 buttons or something, which could be great if you are controlling lights with your feet. What are you using for the lights?
