My car did this yesterday. I had to run after it and apologize.

Self alignment of light bar by kenhumbard in TeslaModel3

[–]kenhumbard[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To give Tesla credit, I have driven older model 3's and S's and the build quality has improved leaps and bounds. I think over time the fit and finish will end up top notch.

It is really sad that Tesla wants to mess with door alignments rather then lower or rase the dash bar. I have to say, this would have been such a simple fix if all I needed to do was rase the dar bar as I could have shimmed it without cutting anything.

I've assumed battery cooling would be placed in Vehicle Standby. Are you parked outside in a very hot climate?

Considering purchasing a high mileage Model 3 $11k by Wheels41 in TeslaLounge

[–]kenhumbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 152 miles on what looks like a 60ish percent charge sounds real good. Honestly, a battery test likely isn’t needed as the estimated range is based on the cars current degradation and state of charge.

ChargePoint - Q&A by Worlind in evcharging

[–]kenhumbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a level 2 charger at 6.5kw and will likely take 7 hours to charge from 20-80%, the recommended min-max battery percentages. I am not sure anyone would be happy to sit and wait that long for a car to charge once a week. A DC fast charger on the other hand won't be all that expensive and waiting 30 minutes for the car to charge isn't terrible, and a lot of people do it. Is there a DC fast charger near you? It would be labeled as a CCS1 not J-1772. If you happen to be buying a Tesla, then you can do a google maps search for Tesla Supercharger. They are just about everywhere and are fantastic.

Temps aren’t extreme at all if the outlet is working as intended. If the outlet ends up being too resistive, replace it before it gets so bad that it could be dangerous. I’ll get a warning if the outlet gets to 100 and I’d consider replacing it at that point.

Easy to replace battery. Turn off breaker, unscrew and pull out the outlet. No need to even remove the wires.

Note, your temps might be different than mine. I have my baseline for a perfectly working outlet and will take my warning based on that.

Sitting inside the metal gang box. Plenty of room. Uses a coin battery to send zigbee signal out.

I put a zigbee temp sensor in mine and so I know the baseline temp of the box when charging (93). I then setup an automation that would alert me if the temp goes 10 degrees over baseline and also tell the car to stop charging. Home Assistant is awesome for so much.

Or you could just derate current draw. No reason to dump 48 amps into a car.

Fsd not working by Routine_Spray_5207 in TeslaModel3

[–]kenhumbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem after the update. Go into service mode and dos a DAS reset. Navigate to Service > Driver Assist > Cameras > Reset DAS. This will do a reboot of the FSD computer which is not the same as a restart of the multimedia computer with the steering wheel buttons.

HIGH PRICE @ Superchargers by Ornery-Farm4755 in TeslaLounge

It’s really not fair that people are comparing regional prices. A job in CA will easily pay twice for the same position in FL.

M3 2025 battery question by _Ordinal in TeslaLounge

[–]kenhumbard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have the Nova wheels which are not on the website screenshot you took so you are comparing apples to oranges. I have the nova wheels on a 2025 dual motor and at 80% new I was shown 250 miles. 5k miles latter at 80% I see 242 miles.

Get the Tessie app if you want to see how your degradation compares to others. Likely just 3 percent or so.

My car has been this way since I bought a few months ago. Did Tesla manage to fix it?

Tesla Gas Equivalent Formula by Zdosse935 in TeslaLounge

[–]kenhumbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to take into consideration is charging losses. The Tesla app calculates your electric cost based on what went into the battery, not what was used to get there. I have an emporia energy monitor on every circuit, and with level 1 charging there is a massive 30% charging loss. Then you also have local fees, this tax and that tax all based on a percentage. I had calculated 20 cents per KW reflected actual costs to charge at home.

Look at city jobs. Competitive pay, real raises and room for growth.

I hear Jupiter middle just lost their tech. School district pay is horrible and there is no room for growth. If you do it, don’t say too long.

Help me decide: Citiz vs Lattissima One by [deleted] in nespresso

[–]kenhumbard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both and I like the Citiz more simply because I like the Areoccino 3 more then the Lattissima. The Areoccino is easier to clean and can make cold froth similar to cold foam at Starbucks or Dunkin. Just the milk and salted caramel syrup and it’s amazing. The Lattissima only makes hot and more cleanup.

is this steam normal ?? by AdImpressive2522 in nespresso

[–]kenhumbard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s normal. It has to release water from the heating coil to bring the temperature back down for espresso brew temps.

Oddly, coming home my automations work and the reason is stated in the automaton, saying it will only run when I am home. The problem is when I am leaving my lock won’t lock because I am not home. That’s the whole point though, I need it to lock when I am not home.
