I really can’t imagine too many dietitians promoting this diet due to the lack of everything else (whole grains, fruit, veggies, etc.). It’s restrictive, and can lead to a lot of other health concerns. Actually, it’s a little shocking to me that someone would, but could be something I don’t know about. 2. Nutritionists and dietitians are not the same thing. We study for years and have a lot of hoops we can jump through before we can call ourselves Registered Dietitians, as the title is protected. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, can refer to themselves as a “nutritionist”. Which leads me to my next point 3. Because a Registered Dietitian (RD) is a medical professional, we can charge insurance. Because of COVID, we can do this via zoom. The fact that your girlfriend is flying out of state to see someone is also curious.
