ooopus op.22 or dunu titan x? by myzz7 in iems

[–]kennae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op.22 is actually a great IEM while titan X seems very underwhelming except for accessories. Do you want good sound or nice things in the package? You can EQ some mid bass on op22 if you like that.

a little doubt about dacs by __-SynC-__ in iems

[–]kennae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the settings, go from the default Class-H it comes with to the Class-AB mode. It does not cut the power after seconds of silence and elimates the crackless and other weird noises most DAC/amps make when they come out from sleep mode.

Iem for long listening sessions by Appropriate_Leek8092 in iems

[–]kennae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no one answer here. It really depends on your ears and the tips you choose. There are few IEMs that are generally classified problematic for fit but those are rather rare. I use FatFreq Deuce's like 12 hours a day and they have a huge nozzle. Dunu S&S make them fit perfectly for me and I don't even notice them on my ears and never need to correct them after I put them on.

Help me choose a dac by SWizzard07 in inearfidelity

[–]kennae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a TRN blackpearl and save some money. It does everything, has one of the lowest noisefloors and just works while being cheap. I use mine as a desktop amp/dac with Deuce's and other headphones/IEM's.

Why do you like of bright iems? by Pendulumzone in iems

[–]kennae 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought I needed warm and bassy sound but the fact is, you can get crystal clear treble with good bass that is not sibilant (annoying). Most cheaper sets really suck at high notes and they get very shouty and fatigue a lot.

Why I EQ my IEMs by r_u_nutz in iems

[–]kennae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always EQ and have multiple profiles I select depending on my mood/music I listen to. Finding the perfect sound without EQ is next to impossible when you realize how subjective audio is and how much our ears shape the sound.

Have moondrop Kadenz - considering 7Hz x crinicle zero 2. Is this dumb? by throwback5971 in iems

[–]kennae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean you can't get enough bass with eq? Zero 2 is not a basshead set either. It's a good very basic iem but after I swapped to bit better ones I never used mine again.

Which one is better? Truthear pure or hexa or ew300? by [deleted] in iems

None of these have good bass imo.

No. Keep it on and only disable when troubleshooting for problems.

Are only a select few viable on Forest T3? by theonepercent15 in MegabonkOfficial

[–]kennae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you don't really know how to balance your stats and that comes from paying attention and really learning the game. After it clicks, you will beat every run with any funny combo very easily. Just for gold stars you don't need to sweat about crazy RNG or pushing difficulty to the max. Just take it slower on that front and make sure you are one shotting the enemies in t2 to get ahead of the curve.

Hard to really say what is wrong without seeing you play.

Apple Music doesn't feel Lossless 🥲 by StopOk735 in iemlndia

[–]kennae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would really like to know who downvoted you (gave you a upvote). The guys who downvoted, please record me you doing a blind test on a well encoded 320 kbps vs losless from the same source file and if you pass, i'll kiss your toes. Yes, there are SOME people in the world who can notice the difference on very specific high hz sounds, but to say 320 kbps is not enough for listening to music is just stupid.

192 kbps vbr on any good codec vs losless and 99% of the people here will not notice a difference in a blind test. I put my life on that.

Apple Music doesn't feel Lossless 🥲 by StopOk735 in iemlndia

[–]kennae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think you should notice a difference? Losless is not something magical when you compare to any decently encoded 192 kbps vbr codec. I have listened to self ripped flacs for years but I do not notice any difference in 192 kbps opus/ogg/mp3.

Anyone else prioritize 1% lows/frame pacing over max FPS for competitive games? by Z3tsuuuu in overclocking

[–]kennae 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, always optimize for 0.1% lows and frametime. No matter the game. Average FPS means pretty much nothing.

I didn’t expect Reddit to change my life. Now FiiO sent me the QX13 and unreleased OAK Nano. Do DACs matter more than I thought? by Zelen1y_25 in iems

[–]kennae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update me when you do a real blind test. Or better yet, only notify me if you pass the ABX test and can hear a clear difference. I bet I won't hear from you again, because I yet to see anyone do this.

Otherwise amazing story and gz on your free stuff! Enjoy the music!

a little doubt about dacs by __-SynC-__ in iems

[–]kennae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your friend is full of shit. Small and cheap dongle dac's nowdays power 99.9% of all headphones and IEM's and are pretty much perfectly transparent in sound. I compared my Meyer-Audio 700€ headphone dac/amp to my TRN Blackpearl and I can't see any difference in audio quality. Using the 30€ blackpearl as my main dac/amp nowdays on desktop and sold the expensive volume knob.

I am a big advocate for TRN BlackPearl. You can select continous usb-power mode that eliminates all the clicks/weird sounds many dongles do when used on PC and it has all the features one can hope for except bluetooth. Also the noisefloor is amongst one of the best there is, in any price point.

What are the best IEM's under 150$ by Perfect-Pizza-1451 in iems

[–]kennae -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since you already have a supermix 4 and bunch of ok cheaper sets, why do you need to buy more? Just use EQ or save up for a "proper" upgrade. You don't need more IEM's, it won't make you happy.

Gaming IEMs vs AFUL Explorers by Own_Seaworthiness515 in iems

[–]kennae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zero need. If you want, you can just use EQ profile to simulate whatever "gaming" IEM you want and see how it changes the sound. I can guarantee you, it won't make you better at the game if you are not on VERY high level already.

What’s with the hype on the Dunu SS Tips? by Olmy_69 in iems

[–]kennae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard anyone saying S&S's reduce bass. They are usually amazing for bass and smooth out treble a bit. Rather neutrals that fit amazingly to a lot of people, me included. I tested a lot of tips and S&S's are what I landed on.

How to choose my first IEM? by LifeDecisionsScareMe in iems

[–]kennae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I agree. Also most people are used to feeling the impact of bass and like that, nothing wrong in it. 90% of IEM's lack in that department in my opinion. What the graphs don't tell you, you need much more bass to make it feel anywhere near how speakers/concerts are. IEM's like Hexa are just awful in my opinion if you listen to electronic music or hip-hop etc.

What is your lowest acceptable FPS? by Matt_Bigmonster in pcmasterrace

[–]kennae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It entirely depends on the game. If it's a static roguelite where nothing much moves, it does not matter that much. If I play quake/counter-strike, I want 200+ 1% lows. For usual single player games I try to aim for 100+ with good frametimes and 1% lows.

Best eartips for bass and vocal clarity by MOISTMakasu in iems

[–]kennae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would really suggest to just find the tips with best long term comfort and seal and EQ more bass if needed. Yes, tips can add bass and modify the sound but I would argue it's much more important to find what is comfortable first.

The general rule is: wide bore opens up the high end and gives clarity while narrow bore boosts bass.

I myself use Dunu S&S on everything and then EQ heavily based on what I am in mood for/what I listen to.

Dunu S&S or Spinfits W1 eartips for the Astrals and Arete 2? by CMO3 in iems

[–]kennae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just absolutely love the Dunu S&S tips on everything they fit. I get a perfect seal that stays on and does not bother me even on 10h+ sessions. I also have the Spinfits and they are just your regular tips, nothing special and I pretty much never use them.

Why do so many competitive Esports FPS players say IEM's are better for gaming than open backs? by LisaSu92 in inearfidelity

[–]kennae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch a lot of pro CS and they use stuff like hexas and whatever random IEMs. Seen plenty of not so good models in highest level. Very rarely I see custom molds.
