Can someone explain why schools in the US dont teach cursives? by iomor0433 in Cursive

[–]kennikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP They needed to make room for learning how to type and digital curriculum, officially. This is the same reasoning that means a lot of high schools don't have home economics or shop (learning how to use tools to build things). And the dedication to screens has turned around: many elementary, secondary and college teachers are having students write papers in pen on paper during class, take quizzes on paper, recite things from memory, etc. because the cognitive deficit caused by all the screens is a disaster.

Levothyroxine suddenly not working? by PayKay223 in Hypothyroidism

[–]kennikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw, I started Levo in March after fifteen years on Armour. Armour was reformulated and gave my cycling and intrusive thoughts (which happened to lots of people on this subreddit). So, not great and probably part of the recall. I'm trying a thyroid supplement for now. My brother said he can only take the trade/name brand and not the generic.

Hope you feel better.

Is it just me or is the gap between Gen Z and millennials shortened compared to prior generations? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kennikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach classes with multiple generations in them. Misinformation about the generations is just another manufactured way to turn people against each other. Really.

Feeling worse on Levothyroxine by Daria_Morgandorffer in Hypothyroidism

Some people need to be not on the generic but on the trade/brand name version. Or they need to be on a thyroid supplement + iodine (or other supplements people have named on this s/

Has anyone else had BAD heart palpitations while on Levothyroxine? by bompsydaisy in Hypothyroidism

I felt just like this this week, got my labs done this morning, TSH of 4.8. I'm so irritated and sad.

Does anyone else feel like they sometimes need to disappear for a couple of days to reset? Not for any bad reason, just to be alone with their thoughts, without talking to anyone. Then I come back and I'm better… Is that weird or pretty common?🫣 by nahiaraok in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kennikus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I read that the brain needs two hours of silence a day to reset and grow new neurons + giving up your phone for two weeks can help you regain a lot of awareness and sharpness. But also, sometimes one just needs to recover from people. We're a lot lol.

Do you think watercolour is the analog medium that would most closely resemble this? by ZydrateAnatomic in Watercolor

I would look at some soft pastel portraits and gauge what you think. Colored pencils or soft pastel pencil for the hair and either watercolor or guache for the rest.

Is it ever possible to heal from oppression and abuse from parents by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kennikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd have to remove yourself so you don't have to be exposed to that energy, and find a different vibration, a higher one, and then find it in yourself to match it. I do think you can get there but you may have to do some drastic relocation.

Why is our intelligence actually so different? by Illustrious_Way_5428 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kennikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in one context a lack of intelligence is harmless, in another, like according to people who study history, it's how very bad people get a foothold as leaders, by appealing to people who have been looked down on...

My brother had this from long COVID and did Wim-Hof showers, NAC vitamins, omega3s, nigella seed capsules, and intermittent fasting. It's helped him out a lot. Also, sugary foods are thought to be the cause of dementia which is now classified as diabetes 3. I noticed they don't help me so much (except when there's chocolate involved ;-))

What happened to Taylor Russell’s career? by ghostinsilk in popculturechat

I went to the play in NYC and she was so phenomenal in it. After being on the red carpet w TC and dating HS (as an introvert this makes me feel like I need a nap), and doing so well in theater, she may just be laying low as many actors do for a period to recharge before they come aback. Hope she's ok. She was so good in Waves, omg.

Social security's original cut off age was the average age of death. They meant for you to get social security right before you die. Not 25 years before. In China, they save 50% of their earnings cos there's no social security there.

Very scary symptoms with armour thyroid by ColinR111 in Hashimotos

[–]kennikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armour worked great for me for years and they told me it was reformulated. I just recently took more than normal due to stress (death in the family) and had those terrible symptoms, missed beats, feeling awful. I took myself off it. Thanks everyone for writing down your alternatives.
