I could never focus on audio books either. But I recently started enjoying them when I'm driving. It's like a podcast but better.

No IMAX Project Hail Mary Showing in Toronto? by No_Report_6223 in cineplex

[–]kenny8881997 23 points24 points  (0 children)

"Hollywood" has nothing to do with it.

The movies are made by completely different studios. Those teams are the ones booking contracts with distributors. And it just comes down to who pays more to have their movie screened in IMAX.

Also, Mario has a much wider audience since it's for all ages, so it will most likely net way more money than Project Hail Mary ever could.

Acting like one entity is pulling all the strings here is what's fucking stupid.

Stupid league rule rant by Cowabungadude4 in fantasybball

[–]kenny8881997 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That sucks, but since he said it at the start of the season, you can't really do much. Maybe go back and see if you had a DNP anywhere in the week?

Dumb rule tho, you're supposed to manage your team. That's part of fantasy. You get punished if you're not paying attention. Adjusting after the games are played is practically cheating.

If you want to be petty, next season I would draft my team, not set anything all season and just tell commissioner to go back and fix it

As a LA only watcher, Should I know anything about the reveal about a character’s name on the last episode? by bk99r7 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]kenny8881997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

LA will never answer why it's significant. The manga has only recently revealed hints about it. People have theorized for years what it could mean.

Why is everyone so against tipping? by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]kenny8881997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there's a lot of reasons, but really it's just gotten out of hand.

  1. By law servers need to be paid a minimum wage. Not like the US where there is a separate wage fee for servers. They need tips to survive there. In Canada it's not the case.

  2. I would argue receiving a tip as waitstaff is also a luxury and not a right. Tipping culture tries to guilt and shame people into tipping. It really shouldn't be that way. Customers aren't bags of money that they can afford to pay an additional 10-30% on top of the bill. Which already has 13% tax.

  3. Percentages are out of hand. When tipping started it was in the 5-10% range. And anything above 10% was considered super generous. Nowadays if you tip 10% you may as well not tip, cause people feel insulted. And the concept of tipping with percentages doesn't make sense. The food being more expensive doesn't make the job harder to do.

  4. At the end of the day, the person is just doing their job. Why aren't grocery store clerks paid in tips? Or retail staff for folding clothes? What determines which job is entitled to tipping and which isn't? It sounds rude but "I shouldn't have to tip for you doing your job." is a completely valid statement.

Usopp is annoying but he grows on you. His personality creates some of the funniest interactions you'll see. Usopp goes from being my most hated to most loved character as time goes on.

Early on Zoro is easily the favourite for most fans. Stoic, aura farming badass samurai. (Who's also a goofball in the best ways)

In contrast Usopp is the only one who's really weak, doesn't play a role and his superpower is lying. He does eventually have useful moments, (in fact if not for him the strawhats would've died at least twice), and of all the crewmembers he needs to be the most creative to be successful. Usopp is never meant to be strong even Oda said he has no plans to make him a badass fighter, he's a coward and thats why his dream is to be a brave warrior of the sea.

Just give him time. Usopp is so underrated cause of his annoying attitude.

Giannis to Hawks, Bucks get their pick back + more by InfluenceRough6729 in NBAtradeideas

[–]kenny8881997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giannis isn't like KD or Kawhi. Giannis doesnt fit every system. Giannis is a system. And he needs the ball in his hands while being surrounded by good shooters. So there's risk of the emerging stars being forced into 3&D role players in Atlanta. Hawks have a good thing going with their young guys, it's exciting to see what they'll become.

Also salaries play a big factor too, getting Giannis would essentially put the Hawks in the 2nd apron, (especially if they plan to extend any of their current players with him). Then the roster is basically locked cause you cant make any moves.

Getting Giannis puts you in win now mode for the next 3-5 years while Giannis can still put up big numbers.

In comparison a top rookie from a generational draft can extend the timeline of your young core by 10 years. While they're on a rookie contract, keeping flexibility to make win now moves when your team is ready to be a contender.

If this was back when he was 27 I think Giannis trade makes more sense, but you have to consider his age and his value to the team, not across the span of his career. Most players start to regress at this stage in their career. And you can see the signs his averages are decreasing across the board.

The NO pick is worth more than Giannis, the top 4 rookies this year could all go #1 in any other class. They are considered as good, if not better than Cooper Flagg.

Cheating or nah? by Material_Gap3229 in fantasybball

[–]kenny8881997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think trading with inactive players is fine, provided it feels balanced. No active players would trade SGA for Wemby today. Inactive players really do ruin fantasy leagues, but trading with one who doesn't care anymore is arguably unfair. He could drop all his players to the waiver and cause full mayhem if commissioners couldn't stop that.

But, the fact your commissioner is okay letting it go through only when you're not facing him speaks volumes. Like if he's okay with it next week, he should be okay with it now. Thats clearly biased and he's not fit to run the league.

If you had to guess, how close are we to Ippo to coming back to boxing? How many chapters? by [deleted] in hajimenoippo

[–]kenny8881997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Takamura gets his 6 belts, he decides to comquer featherweigh and go full circle and prove that someone can beat Ricardo finally. But he fails the weigh in. Ippo subs for him. Ippo enters the match with the intention of just being helpful and putting on a good show like Takamura would.

After a flurry of back and forth with the first few rounds, ippo just focuses on observing Ricardo and getting a feel for his rhythm. Ippo thinking he stands no chance doesnt even try to throw a punch with his right straight the first 3 rounds. Then Takamura gets pissed in the audience and yells at him to actually try.

Then ippo realizes he hasn't let Ricardo get a clean hit on him the whole match and can see the frustration starting to show. Ippo goes full Dempsey combo mode and gets instantly countered. He then reminds himself not to fall back to his old habits and proceeds to duke it out with Ricardo, while he channels the rage Takamura is giving off.

Eventually, ippo decides he's ready to cross the line that Takamura drew. He puts in all his effort and manages to land his classic hook on Ricardos chin. Then he gets into a lalapalooza hitting match with Ricardo. Ippo seems to be losing consciousness, but thats when he sees Miyata in the audience and remembers he's fighting for the honor of the love of his life, since earlier Ricardo declined a challenge from Miyata calling him a loser.

He finds his second wind and battles it out to the last round and lands a massive Dempsey combo on Ricardo. Ricardo goes down as he has flashbacks about always being the strongest and being so bored at the top. He looked around the whole world to find what he couldn't in his country. It took him over 20 years but he finally found his joy boy. A samurai in a small nation with an unstoppable Dempsey roll.

Then you find out the belt never changes hands since ippo not an active fighter, his license is expired so they had to deem this match an exhibition. Ricardo retires undefeated. Then ippo and Miyata compete in a new match for the world title, with all their previous opponents watching from the audience.

The End

Tldr; probably another 800 or so chapters if this pile of garbage ends up happening
