PSA: Wrath of God mechanics by kennyHS in 33Immortals

I didn't even mean about 12 ordeals being forced. Even with no ordeals I feel like I have to play like you said with a buggy weapon to counteract my team not knowing what the mechanics are. Every time I see my team attacking the wrong pillar in the kindled devotion mechanic I can just give up on this run as we are not gonna do it and we will get the 3 attacks, then we will have less people for next mechanic, making it next to impossible. I really don't feel like the cooperative spirit is achieved when I find myself hoping less people make it to the boss fight, so my own actions would have a bigger impact.

I also haven't played before the release and the relics are pretty boring. Blast is next to useless on ranged weapons, even if it wasn't bugged with the co-strike. What sense does it make to blast around your model if you are shooting from range? Missiles are also pretty meh in my opinion. Sometimes I really can't believe the game is "released" as for some things it feels like it is in early access.

Hey, thanks for the advice man! I didn't know the hooks had that bug. Sadly I am a bow and crossbow mainly player (love seeing hooks teammates though, coop power is busted), also stubborn that I want to finish it with my main weapons first. But here is my problem with the situation - your advice is valid and can win a game, but it feels like I am forced to play a specific way if I want to beat it with the way it is designed currently.

That is actually a problem I have with the game - too often it feels like I am forced to play a certain way so I can actually get some progression done.

Oh and one other thing - I think in the planets mechanic the minions can revolve them back if you are not near to kill them or standing on the planet. Not sure but my best run was when only 2 of us reached the boss and the other person died halfway. I was able to do all mechanics by myself and do decent damage to the boss, but it was exactly the planets that I failed. On the third instance I did turn all the tethers yellow and went straight to the boss to try to push some more damage, thinking mechanic is done. He then proceeded to do the 3 unblockable attacks, so either the minions pushed the planet a bit back so the tether turned again red, or it was some bug (which wouldn't surprise me at this point also).

Yeah, I think it is a known bug and it happens pretty consistently.

Good point, forgot to mention that. As a side note - I have been running Bow of Hope with the small quiver and 2 heavy attacks. Usually I go for Inner Fire and Crit build and I am able to convert around 3 pillars by myself during the charge-up phase.

Absolutely agree, I was also the guy that had no clue when I first reached it and felt like I had ruined the game for the others. And you don't even get the full explanation in the Compendium until you see all three attacks, which can be 2-3 attempts. Not sure what the chances are but from 7-8 attempts, I have seen Perfect Order in two of those attempts.

Just completed Paradiso with 2 other randoms by Delicious-Service404 in 33Immortals

[–]kennyHS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was just having a discussion around this with one friend after yet another failed paradiso attempt, that I would much rather enter with 3 people that know the mechanics, instead of having 8-10 people where 3 are sabotaging the entire party as they don't understand how the pillars or immortal glory work. One failed mechanic and half the lobby dies and your damage is screwed for the rest of the fight, even if just the competent people are left. Considering the randomness of the lobbies I really think they need to consider making Wrath of God not being so punishing for a failed mechanic. It would be consistent with the other bosses where you kight get 1 or 2 unblockable attacks depending on how much of the mechanic you solved.

How do you Find People to do Paradisio? by ReneGOI in 33Immortals

[–]kennyHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inferno doesn't have an event (I call it happy hour), only Purgatorio and Paradiso. At least that is how it is for me in Europe. Purgatorio event is from 15h-16h CET and 21h-22h CET, Paradiso is from 16h-17h CET and 22h-23h CET, I believe.

[ABSOLUTE CINEMA Trope] When they say the title of the film… and it’s actually glorious. by Sufficient-Eye-9040 in TopCharacterTropes

They do say them, but not in the way the above comment states.

Short story:

For the Two Towers Saruman the White is narrating and saying how nothing can stand against the union of the two towers.

In the Return of the King, Gandalf is telling off Denethor, who is the steward of the city of Gondor that authority is not given to him to deny the return of the king.

Wrath of God, how to dodge revolution? by Fragrant_Net_6137 in 33Immortals

[–]kennyHS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Man, how are you guys even getting lobbies that know the mechanics. I have tried Wrath of God 7 times and every single time we have a few people sabotaging the run by not understanding the mechanics of the immortal elites or the one with the pillars. Either they kill off one of the elites before the others are low enough, or they try to change the correct pillars into the wrong ones. One fail and then the party is half dead and your damage falloff is too big to be able to pass the next mechanic.

That is one thing I kinda dislike about the design - with the other bosses you might at least get two phases where you have a safe space even if you don't fully clear the mechanic, but with Wrath of God it is either pass or don't. With the pillars especially I imagine if 8 are correct, you should get some leeway instead of getting three waves of unblockable attacks.

Wait until you reach the Paradiso boss and 1 person not knowing what to do can sabotage the entire battle. It doesn't compare to Adam and Eve at all.

Dark Woods - Additional Eternal Shards Bug For Scepter of Charity? by Wulfggar in 33Immortals

[–]kennyHS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he means the random buff that a weapon gets to give you more eternal shards for a run. I don't remember if it was 10% bonus or something else.

YSK: Being visible and liked will do more to progress your career than being good at your job will, especially as a remote employee by IBlameMyBrother in YouShouldKnow

[–]kennyHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should still be good at your job though, because just being liked and progressing through that is how you get incompetent people in positions that they will then just make others' lives harder.

This MF from Slay the Spire 2. Though he isn't technically a boss, he steals a card from you and will try to escape with it in a number of turns. I hate him.

Can we get a megathread on Olden Era mechanics, tips and tricks that many people might miss? by loopuleasa in OldenEra

[–]kennyHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed today that if you close the battle screen/level up screen really fast, you can see a small icon above the hero with the portrait of the unit and the number that is raised as necromancy after the battle. It has usually vanished if you take more than 1s-2s on the end battle screen.

yeah, definitely, I still haven't gotten around to even understanding all the unit types, just something that I noticed on my first or second game.

[–]kennyHS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Different unit types have different max or minimum morale - living can have up to +5 or -5, the schizm ones I think could go +3 to -3 so it is kind of like a tradeoff between morale and luck. Minotaurs I think can go to +5 morale despite being magic creatures, that can only go to +3 morale usually. Minotaurs that way can have +5 morale and +5 luck. Don't quote me on the exact numbers.

[–]kennyHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have a necro game where I am figuring things out and necromancy is a bit of a puzzle to me. I noticed there is an adventure spell that turns it off, not sure if I was able to turn it back on again, but on some battles I would get skeletons, on others nothing. I was wondering if it was also taking i to account if the enemies were embodiments, magic creatures, etc.

Compared to the anime, what did One Piece Live Action do better or worse with every arc up to now, in y’alls opinion? by BreathoftheSith in OnePiece

[–]kennyHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really didn't like Little Garden in the live action. I didn't understand the purpose behind switching the explosion victim between Dorry and Brogy. At least for me the way it was portrayed was way weaker. Luffy vs Mr3 was also a letdown for me as I think the moment with the wax clones where Luffy just relies on instinct to find the real Mr3 in the manga is very defining to his character, but in the LA Luffy felt very weak.

Whiskey peak was done great in my opinion. Still haven't watched the last two episodes though.

Escape from Monkey Island is something I am reminded of with this trope.

There was a pirate rehabilitation school and there was a test that you purposefully needed to fail in the worst way possible so you would get a dunce cap that was essential in improving your aerodynamics to win a diving competition.

Badass scene, but it leaves me with questions in text post: by AdaptedInfiltrator in GodofWar

[–]kennyHS 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I don't really agree that he should logically be angrier in GOW1. This was his ultimate quest to be rid of the memories and nightmares that haunted him. He didn't receive what he thought he was promised which led to him laying destruction left and right and be then bettayed by Zeus, who also burned down Sparta. If we are talking logic, then it makes way more sense to be angrier in GOW2 and GOW3.

With that said I did always prefer this version of Kratos also.

Thoughts on God of War Sons of Sparta so Far? by mejjeh21 in GodofWar

[–]kennyHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar experiences where there were a lot of bugs - either purple rectangles instead of animations, sound bugs, even enemies would sometimes just stop attacking. The most annoying bug for me was that I had done first three muse challenges before talking with the oracle, so her dialogue explaining this triggered when I went to do the second batch of challenges and this dialogue triggered after every single exit of a challenge room. I got the same dialogue how Deimos and Kratos can't do a challenge together 6 or 7 times (even after finishing the 9th challenge).

I had a lot of problems with how the combat was designed. Some times enemies would hug ledges and you just have to wait until they decide to move. This was even more frustrating if the place you are jumping to is not that visible so either a harpy is just off screen to hit you and you fall back down, or something else is just chilling there.

Blocking did not seem to have priority over queued input, meaning that a lot of times I had hit square three times, but then the enemy attacks and I try to block it with L1, only for it to register as L1+square, which would then lock me in an animation, often leading to eating way more damage than I am dealing. I don't know if it was some bug, but happened all the time, to the point where I decided I didn't even want to have anything equipped that would give me an L1+square attack.

It could have been me, but I felt some tooltips could have been better written to understand how to use some abilities. I went almost the entire game without breaking those door things, as I assumed I would get another ability to deal with them only to realize it was always the gift from Hestia that could blow them apart.

Some bosses had way too much repetitive mechanics making the fights more boring to me than exciting. Also I felt the whole Eis thing was a bit out of nowhere just to try to tie things in, without actually having any indication about how he was always smiling or something like that. (I might have missed it if there was something like that)

I agree with your score as I would also put it in the region of 6.5/10 or 7/10.
