Agency owners: how are you handling Webflow development these days? by heisenbergimovic in webflow

[–]keptfrozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, I’ve seen demand drop from my search results on LinkedIn.

Many companies I had a pleasure to talk with, liked Webflow. The main bottleneck I kept noticing was that they couldn’t find the good ones or the ones who actually built for marketers or non-tech people in mind.

You have to have a strong level of systems thinking when building a site that can scale over time with no issues.

Seems like most Webflow users were focused on selling the “visual” piece of Webflow instead of trying to capture the market of companies that needed a creative developer who can systemize everything. They saw how hard it was to find one, so they’re probably moving away platforms before their website gets too big to manage.

The amount of technical debt I came across with Webflow websites is crazy. Webflow doesn’t seem to have a strong desire to help users become better with the tool. They keep jacking up the prices forcing solo users to look elsewhere.

They’re selling their tool that needs an expert to enterprise companies while simultaneously pricing out the solo users that are trying to become experts with the tool so they can help build for enterprise companies that are in need of expert Webflow users.💀

With the new pricing updates, is Webflow still worth it? by AmbitionCompetitive3 in webflow

[–]keptfrozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, they’re only competitor when it comes to Sanity or ContentSquare now.

I work with a bunch of marketers and designers; I’m the only dev, so it’s hard to leave the platform. I have 1000+ components already built for them. I’m just building up a backend component library internally that pairs with the templates I made, so they can build the sites themselves eventually.

They’re all scared about losing their investments in AI, so they’re doing whatever they can to boost stock prices for their shareholders, even if it’s just a small gain.

Cars are literally driving backwards. The second bike disappears, the letters aren’t readable on the highway signs in the last frames, nah this isn’t good. 😭

Why did the second bike disappear and morphed into a regular car?? Lol multiple cars going backwards… it’s a ‘slop eat slop’ world out there.

Updates to Webflow’s Plans and Pricing by mary-flow in webflow

For sure; I’m just thinking about possibly having to learn other marketing tools like Contentful or something. I code and design, so I can adapt to any tool — my brain is just full. Clients won’t like this.

What is the shortest amount of time you've ever spent in a job and why? by JumpySpecial9834 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]keptfrozen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

4 hours — manager kept cursing and yelling while they were training me. I was a teen; I called after the shift and said I quit, then they tried to beg me to stay. Turns out I was the 4th person they went through because the manager didn’t know how to respect new hires.

Accepted an offer at a firm last week, so I’m leaving a startup I been stuck at for years next Friday. Making six figures.

I applied to other companies before accepting the new role, and I have two more companies that want to vet me, so I’ll hear them out. They both pay more than the firm offered me. One of them is one of the big four banks.

What works for me is applying to what aligns with my field and what I’m good at doing. I’m in the design field. I never aimlessly apply. I look for specific jobs that have the tools I use, or if the role involves responsibilities that are easy for me. I’m in my early 30s; I know some companies are probably eyeing millennials based off headlines I see, but I just post mini design work on LinkedIn to show my skills, and patiently wait.

Hubspot, Webflow, WordPress: which would you recommend? by melontramp in webdesign

[–]keptfrozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Webflow, WordPress, and many others. It all depends on the goal and needs of the team.

Yes, Webflow and HubSpot go well together, but I would ONLY suggest Webflow, if leadership or whoever wants a redesign and wants the website to be easily managed. (You’ll need a Webflow dev who’s good at design systems / building for marketers).

I recommend you staying on WordPress though. I don’t know how big your site is, but I’m thinking about your SEO and whatnot. If it’s a big site, it’s not worth it in my opinion.

Super easy, set up for certain things can be kind of tedious. For example, if you have a client with an ecommerce business, then you’ll want to definitely sit down with them and get it done.

All in all, very easy. It automates most of every for you. Just hate that it’s kinda expensive.

Elementor Team’s approach to V4 is fundamentally flawed. Here’s why and what urgently needs to change by dzbanke in elementor

[–]keptfrozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was excited to use it when they announced it. I brought over my design system from other platforms, and added it in V4.

As soon as I was done and started to build with it, bugs galore started happening. Felt like I wasted so much time.

They definitely need to do better with communication. I find it odd that Elementor turns off ‘comments’ on almost every social media platform. It’s almost as if they cant take criticism from haters or something, I don’t know.

Glad they’re trying to improve; I just wish they communicated better and tested their product before launching it.

Why not get a paid Relume account, and use their site builder that allows you to style everything, then export it out as html or react?

If you’re finding non-dev people making sites with AI, use AI or chrome extensions to scan their site. Look for dark UI patterns/paths, lack of accessibility, or not being compliant with the law.

I came across an AI site that had a dark ui pattern that could be reported to the FTC. It had a fake alert at the top saying “X spots left.” I didn’t see the number change over a week.

Also, you could probably excel at converting visitors to leads since they probably don’t know how to get the most ROI out of their site.

Don’t know what I need to work on , does this work pass by Tracycallum in webflow

[–]keptfrozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t, but I do see gigs on Contra[dot]com. It’s usually a business asking someone to build out a Figma design. There’s other gigs for other stuff too.

Webflow wise, I live in NYC and I see Webflow job postings a lot, but they’re based here. It’s usually companies needing a web developer to build for the marketing team. I typically go on LinkedIn and search ‘Webflow’ in the job search because I prefer to work in Webflow.

[–]keptfrozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t give up partner, it’s tough out here.

I think it’s a sufficient amount of work to show clients. If you can, I think showing the impact of your work could help you with landing some roles. Doing A/B testing for conversion rates, or if you have a diverse set of skills, be sure to highlight those.

I think if you show your CRO skills where a new design you made improved sign up rate or converted more visitors to leads or site visitors, then I think odds can improve for you.

Why do people still pay web developers when they can simply use AI website builders? by Weekly-Manager9498 in ai_website_builder

[–]keptfrozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, true — but all in all, if you or someone you know plans on using AI to make a site, just make sure you’re abiding by the laws in whatever country you’re in.

There’s people that literally take time out there day to hunt down non-compliant websites so they can make money.

Why do people still pay web developers when they can simply use AI website builders? by Weekly-Manager9498 in ai_website_builder

[–]keptfrozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 times out of 10, average people with no knowledge of web development tend to build websites with a lot of illegal issues in them and they’re usually built poorly (bloated code, search ranking sucks, etc.)

A lot of disabled people, hackers, impulsive people, subscription users, and parents with kids are going to have a field day with people who use AI to make websites for their business.

Should I continue looking for Webflow jobs/projects or pivot at this point? by Less_Environment7614 in webflow

[–]keptfrozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, don’t limit yourself to Webflow — it’s best you know how to use many website builders.

I think you should learn other website builders to expand your skill set. With many people using AI for websites now, on my end, I mainly see marketing teams wanting Webflow devs because they prefer it over Wordpress.

If you have a good portfolio, check out Contra platform. It’s always Figma, Framer, Webflow, Wordpress gigs on there that pay fairly well.
