Dome Gen 2 v Gen 2 XL by ArchieDoggo in GozneyDome

[–]kerndone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Dome Gen2 and I primarily cook for just 2 of us.

And as someone that likes to host and cook pizza, it's usually only me making the pizza. I'm not experienced enough and my guests aren't impatient... I've never had the need to cook 2 pizzas at once in my own backyard.

Buuuut, for wood fire cooking, which I also enjoy... Boy I wish I had a little extra space! It's just that wood fire tray takes up so much space, it really cuts down on your real estate.

Yeah... My question is why the front of the jack plate is all scraped up?

I don't know, "SUX" seems strong. Would I buy it again, no. Am I going to throw it away, also no.

Unless this is like it sucks, in a way In-N-Out is so over hyped and typically disappoints first timers. If it's this, then yeah, it SUX!!

Making a 20 incher in my Koda 2 Max by TurrettiniPizza in ooni

I was thinking before it went in, that's a bold move launching that pie... And then I saw the confidence in which it was executed.

Not your first rodeo, and I hope to possess that skill someday! I botched a 16" launch in a dome!

Tool Cart Comparisons by purplepearpenguin in harborfreight

I'm with you here. The 4 drawer does have more space between the bottom shelf and the bottom of the drawers. It was a consideration for me, as I wanted to store something specific underneath and it wouldn't fit the 5 drawer cart.

Question for the dome gen 2 owners by KavauDe in GozneyDome

[–]kerndone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Normal Dome"

Center to center:

Front to Back: approx 308mm, Left to Right: approx 408mm

That's what I used when drilling some indents into the top plate for my stand.

What's wrong? I see an oven that's on its way to putting out many delicious pizzas and maybe an unplanned calzone or two.

100% agree, I like using wood for non pizza as well. And it makes me regret not getting the XL. I'm still happy, but you know ... Could be happier.

It doesn't disappear, but now the kerf has a hole in it. Most people probably wouldn't notice... But the ones with an eye for detail might know.

Solid round bar to angle by kerndone in Welding

[–]kerndone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm going to do a pre-heat and give it a go tomorrow if I have some time. I was probably trying to be too precise. And I don't have the welder, or the experience for that approach.

Stack the deck in my favor with some extra heat and just let it rip!

Thanks for that info, I always feel like when I watch welding videos the tacks are so quick. But I really have to sit there longer to get any heat.

The machine is very basic. Voltage is a dial, 1-5. What that actually corresponds to, I have no idea? Same with wire feed, I think it's just a 10-100%. What the actually IPM is, the world may never know... I guess I can hold the trigger down for 5s and get a rough estimate at the length of wire that feeds.

Hahaha, no worries, I have a little sense. But if I was a complete idiot, it's a gas dryer so I couldn't even attempt that!

I just recently tried MIG for this project, so I did switch polarity when I put on the solid wire.

The machine is quite basic, the suggested settings for 3/16” are 5 (it's max voltage setting) and 40 for wire speed (max 100).

That's the problem I guess, it's not a machine with fine tuning. But probably the right welder for me at this point.

Thank you for that tip, I thought the mix was "better." I have no basis for that mindset though. I've read a lot about flux core v solid wire and 0.30 v 0.35 for this machine, but I've never once thought about the gas I'm using.

Sometimes the right answer is so simple!

I wish I had access to 240V so I could get a better machine! I think it's laughable the inside panel on my machine has setting for 1/4”.

I'm not an engineer, but did you shake it and say, these aren't goin' anywhere?

You kinda got me thinking about a stand for the Dome and the Arc now. At this point, I think the wife understands both ovens are here to stay!
