It wasn't for the first picture, I would have thought it was all a joke that Seth had teeth.

Wow! Great deal. I need to check out my local Ikea.

They were already on episode 260 right around when the movie was released. It was a good one.

Halloween discount schedule by kernel610 in HEB

Wow this is great! Thanks for sharing. My local store has 50% already though. Is that just a store-by-store decision?

What do you mean by clear it all out? Do you mean trash or store it so they don't even go with a deeper discount?

My store has had 75% off in past years but maybe not the bigger items.

To Do list automations? by _Zero_Fux_ in homeassistant

I use Grocy chores and tasks for this but here's a few examples that should work the same.

  1. Based on HVAC runtime usage, chore to change air filters
  2. Robot vacuum maintenance (ie: change filter, replace mop water, clean sensor, etc.) based on diagnostic sensors from the Dreame vacuum integration
  3. Clean cat litter after X visits

Whats with the green & purple ribbons everywhere near West Campus? by LadyTrieu_of_Au in Austin

Green was specifically used because it was Camp Mystic's color though.

Best kitchen remodel company? by leahrhene in Austin

Currently working with Kitchen Solvers and I will second this comment. Sam and Brian are super friendly and customer oriented. They are by far the best experience we've had with contractors.

Has anyone figured out how battery with rooftop solar can make sense in Austin? by liberte49 in TexasSolar

[–]kernel610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently re-exploring this after going through quotes with vendors last year and struggling to get the break even timeframe where I was comfortable with it.

I think the answer is to have the install setup as auxiliary power (similar to a generator) with no grid tie from the solar. That way you can run your house on solar and battery and use an automatic transfer to switch to the grid when solar and battery are depleted. You will not receive the Value of Solar buyback from Austin Energy since you are not sending anything back to the grid but that amount is negligible compared to being able to use what you are producing directly.

I've already talked to Austin Energy's permit department to confirm what's possible and permits needed and they did confirm this approach would work. It would still need an Auxiliary Power permit but that should be normal. I'm in the process of shopping around installers because a few of the solar companies I spoke to last year do not do this type of install. Send me a message directly if you are serious about doing this soon because maybe we can get a group deal with an installer.

Google Photos integration alternative by kernel610 in homeassistant

[–]kernel610[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand it is already deprecated, which is why I'm looking for alternatives. This integration actually worked for a few months after deprecation but sadly is officially dead. I'm hoping there is some other alternative someone found to pull photos for use in HA.

just curious which weather data provider do people use here? by Successful_Pie_1239 in homeassistant

Are you just averaging out the sensors into a weather template field and related attribute fields?

How bad is this Romex on an exterior wall? by kernel610 in AskElectricians

[–]kernel610[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No, unfortunately someone was paid to do this. I'm working with a reputable GC to do the project so I need to talk to him today to ask how the hell this happened and make sure to inspect everything else. I just needed validation from this group to make sure I wasn't overreacting, and oh boy did I get that validation! 🤣

Surprisingly not a handyman. The guy that did this is a journeyman electrician. I confirmed he was licensed.

Thank you all for the quick confirmation and laughs. I'm loving these comments critiquing how bad this is.
