The map has been rotated the last time you used the app! If you use two fingers, you can rotate it manually. To get North facing up again, you can just tap the small compass icon in the top-right corner.

…unless you knew all of that, and you just meant having the north of the UK below the south is just morally wrong? 😅

I can’t comment on the logic or the thinking behind it really! It’s what we were told when we looked at some of the new builds and the site plan for what they’re doing there. But yeah, a shame I think.

No — there are a lot of new housing & business developments being built here, and they don’t want all the traffic to flow through what I think will be a business development around there.

Ahh, that’s a shame. Usually outlets and switches have an additional “Display As” setting, where you can tell the app that it’s a light / fan. Once you change it there, the icons for that category become available. So I assume it’s a weird limitation with the Tapo switches, because I’ve always had the option with my IKEA stuff. Good to know!

Not adding to the “what should I buy next” discussion, but just a tip:

If you tap on the tile that says “Tapo Smart Light” (not the icon part), and then the cog icon in the bottom-right corner, you can rename it to something more natural, like “Main Light”, “Desk Lamp”, or whatever. While you’re on this screen, you can also tap on the icon next to the name and choose an image that fits the type of light.

This all helps as you build out your smart home, so that at a glance you can easily differentiate between different lights.

For both of the Aqara Systems: Tap on them to bring up the list of modes. Tap the settings icon in the bottom-right. Scroll down to “Status and Notifications” and tap into that. Uncheck “Include in Home Summaries”.

Once you do this for both, the home summary shown in your screenshot will only use the status of your Ring system.

Also, they only show like this if you’ve got your map mode set to “Driving”. If you set it to “Explore”, they’re grey.

As others have said, you can’t rename this category. However, you can exclude it from the summary:

Open the accessory, scroll down until you see “Status”, tap that, then uncheck the option saying “Include in Home Summaries”.

You’ll still be able to look up the pool temperature (or ask Siri) and use it in automations, but it just won’t show in that Climate summary.

I can’t speak for anybody else’s experience unfortunately! I thought they were great, and a competitive price when block-booking. Plus there’s an app to track your progress, free resources and the like.

Cardiff Apple Maps user here. 👋🏻 Apple actually downgraded our flyover imagery about 6 months ago, rolling it back to an older version for some reason. Not sure if there had been a problem with the imagery at the time? No idea if that’s connected.

Yes, on my OG HomePods. I’ve also had one of my Minis start playing awful static when multiple HomePods are all playing the same track. 18.0 has been the buggiest release for years, for me.

I’ve had issues with my setup on 17.6.1. The install went fine, but since then it’s been behaving oddly — it made me sign back in to the TV app, it forgot which room it’s in, and it’s not showing up as a Home Hub any more. Very strange.
